History

Established in 1989.

A Michigan native, Dr. Dater has more than 25 years’ experience in organized dentistry. During that time, he has been an active member of the Michigan Dental Association Board of Trustees, serving as the group’s Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee. He was elected President in 2007 – 2008.

A graduate of the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry, Dr. Steve Dater served as a delegate to the American Dental Association from 1997 to 2012. He also served as Chairperson of the State Association’s Special Committee on the Young Dentist.

Dr. Dater was a Director of the West Michigan District Dental Society where he served on the committees on Dental Health Education, Dental Education, Adult Dental Services and Membership. He previously was the chair of the Young Dentist Forum and the Legislative Chair for West Michigan.

Involved within the community, Dr. Dater is a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Mary, are also active in the lives of their three children, Stephanie, Scott, and Samuel. His hobbies include bow hunting, golf, traveling with the family and outdoor activities. Along with his daughter, Stephanie, Dr. Dater is involved in an annual trip to Ukraine in June. During this trip, Dr. Dater volunteers his time by performing dental procedures on orphans.

In May of 2013 Dr. Steve Dater was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserves. He is now giving back to his country serving in the Dental Corps. It is a small part to help all the brave men and woman that serve our country.
