Tees, Sweatshirts, Sweatpants, Shorts, Swimwear, Fancy Tops, Sandals & Socks, etc. Also a large assortment of Seashells, Kites, Flags, Windsocks, Greeting Cards, Gemstones, Jewelry, Minnetonka Moccasins, Beach Toys & Body Boards, Blankets, Candy including Salt Water Taffy, and hundreds of souvenir type items. For your outdoor use we have Concrete Bird Baths, Fountains, Animals including Seagulls, Gnomes & Elves. And everyones favorite Plastic Flamingos !

History

Established in 1976.

First opened by Ben & Millie Cornelius about 1965 as Flamingo Gift Shop mainly specializing in Outdoor Lawn Décor and Sea Shells. Purchased by Jim Tratz in 1976 and became Flamingo Jim’s Gifts & Gems as Jim was very much into gemstone cutting & polishing. Later the name was revised to Flamingo Jim’s Gifts & Clothing to reflect the large selection of beach clothing. 1300 sq. ft. were added to the building in 1981, and 2400 sq. ft. more in 1986. For about 10 years they produced their own line of concrete lawn décor. Many families have visited «Flamingo Jim’s» for several generations. Children especially love the selection of simple toys and natural Sea Shells & Polished Rocks.

I’ve grown up going to this shop and absolutely love everything about it. It has everything you could ever want and more! It’s so much fun and if you’re in rockaway and don’t make a stop here than you’re missing out the most rockaway experience you could have.

They sell junk and don’t offer refunds or seem to care if you have a problem with a product. Very claustrophobic layout, long lines, rude staff.

This is always a fun shop to poke around in. I come in every time that I’m in Rockaway. Most of the stuff is just overpriced touristy knick knacks, but it is still really fun to browse. The staff is nice, and it is a great place to go if you want a little something to remember your trip or if you need a gift for someone back home.

I love this place.
Trinkets and souvenirs galore! If you want it, you’ll likely find it here. Magnets, clothing, shot glasses, alligator heads, statues… and oh so much more. You can shop here for hours. Go with friends so you can laugh at all the great, punny stuff they have there. Decent prices, too.

drove all the way from tacoma to get some lawn art from this business. found just what i wanted and the sales person (maybe owner) was so nice and helpful. he took my stuff to the car and helped me load it in. it was a 3 hours drive to get my gnomes but worth it… thanks…

I love this store! And, EVERYONE knows and loves the staff here! Great place to take the kids to pick out some fun/​cool souvenirs before leaving town! You cant leave Flamingo Jim’s UNhappy. It is like Disneyland!

I have been coming here since I can remember, one of the the first places I saw a shellfish man riding a motorcycle. One the greatest things of all times. Jim’s has one of the largest shirt selections with local themed phrases and decals you will ever see in one spot on the Oregon coast. Also a huge stone statue selection if you have a way of lugging 4 foot tall stone Buddha home. I definitely advise you and the kids to check out flamingo Jim’s for a great day of goofy shopping and fun.

It’s like someone threw up a rainbow of tacky/​touristy items in this place. 5 stars because Flamingo Jim’s was a constant in my childhood. I spent many hours in here during frequent trips to Rockaway Beach. Given the fact Rockaway is so small to begin with, you might as well come in here.

A trip to this part of the beach with the kids isn’t complete without a trip to Flamingo Jim’s. Ok, I admit it. Sometimes we go without the kids too. It’s that much fun. :) They have lots of touristy junk — the fun kind of junk. Aside from the t-​shirts, sweatshirts, flip-​flops and hats, they have lots of gimmicky toys that even adults have fun playing with.
They also have a statuary outside. Normally we don’t go for statues, but we bought an amazing lucky frog a few years ago. We had looked for one everywhere and can’t believe we found it in Rockaway!
Revert to childhood for twenty minutes and have fun at Flamingo Jim’s!

This store is AMAZING! It has so many fun things to buy. It’s the weirdest store I’ve ever been in. And it’s by far the weirdest store in town. They sell literally anything under the sun!

We really enjoy Rockaway Beach, and one of the reasons is this kitchy junky wonderful store.
Daughter loves the pop rocks, and the stuff. Oh the stuff! Bliss for the kid under 12, really. Last time we were in, her ten dollars bought her a stuffed purple snake, a rock, a seashell, candy, a fairy Christmas tree ornament, and a plastic mermaid. Ok, maybe I supplemented the ten dollars a bit, but still. She did well!
I bought her a fleecy blue jacket that says «Rockaway» on it. For less than $ 20.
They have cool and awful garden art out front. I really really want one of their faux Easter island heads to put in my garden.
Husband is not excited. So far it hasn’t happened.
Fortunately for me, we will be back. I’m sure there is room in the car, what is he talking about!??

At this fun stop we found nice and inexpensive (yet quality) touristy gifts including sweatshirts, T-​shirts, salt water taffy and some postcards. We narrowed down our choice from a vast selection. Believe me, there is a LOT more! As souvenier stops go, this one was top notch!

If you want a hip, over-​priced or cheap ugly Rockaway Beach t-​shirt, hoodie or tank, this is the place to go!
It’s also the place to go if you want some really cool yard/​garden ornaments. They had a freakin’ awesome set of concrete stepping stones that «en masse» were an alligator!
They also have an enormous supply of typical tourist crap like key rings, snow globes, saltwater taffy, kites, postcards, cheesy beads, etc.
Honestly, visiting Flamingo Jim’s in this «non-​destination» location is how you KNOW you’re on vacation!
An extra star because thanks to Flamingo Jim’s I was able to initiate my 7 year old niece into the delights of Pop Rocks candy. There ain’t nothing like the look on a seven year old’s face when they put that shit in their mouth…

Here are your stars, Jim, good buddy! If you are ever in Rockaway Beach, as I was this weekend, you would be a fool for not visiting. The place to go for boogie boards, playing cards, t-​shirts, hats, Three Stooges bottle openers (nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!), and other awesome beach-​going essentials. A beach bum or bunny’s wet dream come to life.
NOTE: There is no liquor here. There’s a store down the street for that.
