This place truly sucks! I took 10+ pounds of de-boned venison there for grinding into burger and smoked sausage. First, they don’t make smoked sausage. So I settled for all burger. Now I’ve had venison ground throughout the southeast, from Florida to NC. But I’ve never encountered a deer processor who does not make smoked sausage. But the kicker is this, when I finally went to get the meat, a day after they promised to call me, it was packaged and frozen, not in butcher paper and not even in human sized servings but rather in one big 10+ pound hamburger!:) When I asked the manager if they could put it on a band saw and cut it into use able size portions, he refused and said I should have been more specific when I brought it… well no joke, Sherlock! At any rate, I took it to a real butcher who after calling all his employees and getting a good laugh at my Brontosaurus-burger, sawed it down to 11– one pound servings packaged individually packaged in freezer paper. AND I didn’t have to be «more specific»! The butcher refused to charge me, saying, I’d already paid enough! Lesson learned. Avoid Sowells Meats like the plague!
