This is the only location I’ve ever played paintball at. And after looking at the prices and the conditions of other locations. Why would I go anywhere else? Reasonable prices Allows all paintballs All outdoor and natural terrain Staff is excellent. I tell everyone I know about this place. It is an amazing place to spend a weekend morning. I go about once every two months in the winter months and once a month in the warmer months.

David is spot on. Go down the road to paintball central, it’s worth paying a tad more. Safety is way better, the courses actually differ from each other and the team is well managed. At This place, you had to wait 25 minutes in between rounds to play while the referees ate Taco Bell and talked shit about the players that were out of ears reach. Not worth saying much more.

Palmetto is sort of the field that the paintball parents lock in the closet when the neighbors come over. The prices are some of the cheapest available in the Charlotte vicinity, at around 16 bucks to play with your own gear and paint. And the ability to bring your own paintballs is unique in today’s paintball market. This allows you to buy the cheapest paint you can find and use it at a field, where the field would normally charge around 50 bucks per case. However, the fields themselves are only mediocre. The pro shop(a partially dilapidated shack next to the parking lot) is run by the family that owns the field. The family is nice enough, but the selection at the store is extremely limited. But the problem that knocks this place down a couple stars for me is that the safety at this field is truly abysmal. You’ll find people shooting trees out the back of their cars in the parking lot. You’ll find kids walking around in the store without so much as a barrel plug. The chronograph is loosely enforced, meaning that guns could be shooting at a faster velocity than is safe. All these things can lead to accidents in severity that most people underestimate(a paintball WILL destroy an eye at close range.) Not only is that bad for business, but it’s bad for the sport of paintball. Like most fields, the referees are underpaid teenagers. Unlike most fields, these kids are poorly managed and seem to dislike their boss greatly. If you’re looking for a clean, safe experience, Paintball Central is just down the street. And while you’ll pay a lot more to play, your experience will be infinitely better. If you’re looking for good speedball or competition, head up to BOSS paintball in Locust, NC. I’ve played tournaments all over the country, and BOSS houses one of the nicest speedball fields I’ve ever seen.
