Schnabeltier is a fusion of good things that creates something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Schnabeltier is the region’s first Artisan Cheesemaker and Farm Winery. The company founders traveled frequently to Europe for business and leisure and are committed to bringing some of that old world flavor and artisan quality to the Midwest.

History

Established in 2014.

Our dream to start a European-​inspired, artisan cheese creamery in Northern Indiana started during a staff meeting in early February 2014. We were a group of childhood friends that had created a very successful environmental technology company and we were looking at ways to diversify our business. We frequently hold free-​form brainstorming sessions with employees and management. The topic for this meeting was «what’s next?» Should we expand into other markets? Should we expand our product line? Or, should we do something completely different? The idea for a specialty creamery evolved organically.
