Jolie Salon & Spa

I came in for a haircut last week with Heidi and have absolutely LOVED the result! Walking in, the salon was beautifully reiterated and felt very welcoming. There were some jewellery and other small things for sale, as well as an array of coffee and snacks available to make anyone immediately feel comfortable. I came in a few minutes early, but my stylist was ready to get me and start right away. I had a great time chatting with her, and although I didn’t have an exact idea of how I wanted my hair to come out looking, but she was able to create a plan for me that I loved. She showed me how to style it and it’s even easy enough that I can actually do it everyday (for me, this is huge!) Not just was Heidi great, but the owner, Mila, also came by to check on me during the process. They were both wonderful and I cannot recommend my experience at Jolie enough!

I started going to this Salon after my regular woman at another salon moved out of the area, and I found a groupon for Jolie. 3 brazillians for $ 90. WHAT a steal, right?! The «I’ve experienced better» rating is pretty accurate for here. It’s not the worst by far, but I’ve had better waxes.
The waxing room is kind of just a side room in the middle of the salon. You go in, your waxer asks you to undress and they come back when you’re up on the table. During one visit my waxer didn’t knock and came back in before I was done undressing. which wouldn’t have been a problem IF she hadn’t opened the door so wide that everyone in the waiting area received an eyeful. That was not great. Wanted to walk out to and ask everyone who had gotten a free show «so now who’s going to buy me dinner?!»
The brazillian here is pretty brutal, lots of ouch. More than you’d expect even from a brazillian. I’ve had a few here, and each time I would tell myself «okay, maybe it will be better» but it was consistently rough and the last time I went, I actually bruised. Bruising CAN be normal if you have very sensitive skin, but in 3+ years I’d never experienced that.
The waxes did last a decent amount of time, about 4 weeks. It might last longer if you’re not of hairy heritage. They are also very fast!
I can’t speak to any other salon treatments here, as I was only a wax connoisseur.
I’d say the only upside here is that if you can get a groupon, it’s a cheap brazillian. But I’m not sure you want to sacrifice cleanliness and sanitary practices for $ 20. If you have confidence in your immune system though and want to give it a go, knock yourself out!

I bought a groupon for a cut and full color. I didn’t expect anything fantastic because I did get a deal, but this was awful. I was rushed through my whole appointment. At first, the hair dresser, Jennifer, was welcoming and nice. My cut was very minimal with practically no styling. The next day I noticed that the bottom of my hair was significantly lighter than the top. I asked for dark auburn (my natural color is light brown). My roots were dark, and the rest of my hair was my natural color. During the process, I wondered if she was doing it correctly since she only applied color to my roots and washed the color into the rest of my hair but since she is the professional I figured she knew what was going on. When I called the next day and asked to have it done correctly she told me she had to charge me! For her mistake! I called to speak to a manager and was called back by Jennifer and borderline harassed. She got defensive, blamed me for the bad dye job and acted like she was doing me a favor. I will never go back and should not be forced to pay for her mistake. Now I wasted my money and have a bad dye job and was treated very unfairly.

Terrible customer service! Bought the groupon for mani and pedi wanted to use it before vacation they had nothing available the week before except in the middle of the day– some people have jobs! Then waited until before bridal shower and again had no availability– finally got an apt for Thursday but the groupon expired Wednesday and they wouldn’t accept it– Terrible customer service or accommodating a customers needs

I get brazilian waxes on a regular basis. Was in town, so randomly chose this salon as one of the few that does brazilians in Rochester. Salon seems nice but the Brazilian experience was extremely poor compared to those in Chicago. Normally I experience minimal pain but I actually Jumped and dreaded each time she did a strip. Either due to the quality of wax or technique. The work was not thorough, she didn’t even use the light, so I will have to clean up what she neglected. My normal esthetician is extremely thorough (uses the light and removes the extra hair that waxing missed), uses quality products (wax and tea tree oils) and has excellent technique all for less than what I paid here. Less of importance is that the table is just a paper sheet instead of comfortable towels. I would not recommend for first time Brazilian experience. But it will do if there’s nothing else around…

I bought the groupon for 2 Brazilians and figured it is always nice to try somewhere new and experience different people since everyone waxes differently.
The shop itself is nice and looks clean. I have never been there when the dog is there so that isn’t an issue for me.
The parking lot is very small especially when full. I would suggest backing into a parking space because it will be much easier then trying to back out of a parking space when the lot is full.
The receptionist is nice, but sits very low at a very high desk so if her head is down she doesn’t notice you right away, which is fine– it happens.
As for my wax– the first time I went it was very rough and painful. I figured that since it had been a while between waxes that it would be and when I went back 4 weeks later it would be better. However, it was not. It was still very rough and painful. I understand wanting to get the job done quickly since it is not very pleasant, but I do expect that my comfort comes first.
Both times I was waxed the lady did not wear any gloves and I did not witness her washing her hands before or after my wax which mean she touched my vagina and then the door handle that everyone else touches– this is the reason why I will not go back there! I thought the first time was just a fluke but when she did it again I was not happy.
She also did not do my back side or at least ask if I wanted it done. She did it the first time after asking but didn’t even give me the choice this time.
I also needed to ask for change for the tip however, the receptionist could not break a 20. I asked my waxer if she could break it for me and she assumed what my tip would have been and gave me back the change from that. I felt that was very unprofessional. She did keep what I would have given her but, I still felt as if she should have asked me first.
The women who did my wax was very nice and easy to talk to but everything else does not make up for that in my case.
Overall, I will not go back here for a wax even if it is free. I probably wouldn’t go back for any other services either knowing that one person doesn’t have the healthiest habits… I don’t know how sanitary anyone else is who works there.

I just moved to town and saw a groupon for brazilian waxes at Jolie. I thought, sure what the heck, I’m new to town and this is a bargain! I’ve had brazilian waxes done at different salons in different states, and let me say, this was a very different experience from what I’m used to.
First off, the room seemed clean enough, but the chair/​lounge that they had me lay on was just covered with paper, similar to what might be on an exam table at your doctor’s office. Everywhere else I’ve gone has had a sheet or something a little more comfortable covering the table, but I thought ok, this involves less clean-​up, so whatever. The esthetician did wear gloves, but I didn’t see her wash her hands before or after putting them on.
The esthetician stayed in the room as I got undressed and dressed again, which I thought was kind of weird. Also, throughout the whole waxing, I was pretty much spread eagle on the paper-​covered chair, totally uncovered. In the past, the salons I’ve gone to have always had a sarong-​type garment to help keep me at least a little bit decent!
The gal that did my was did do a good job with the execution of the whole waxing; the temperature was good, she was thorough and made sure to minimize the painful parts and also did a good job checking to make sure things weren’t sticky afterwards.
I would say overall though that I felt like I was being rushed through and it wasn’t the most comfortable experience I’ve ever had (i.e. having the esthetician in the room while I’m getting undressed/​dressed was REALLY uncomfortable, and she seemed annoyed that I was chatting to try and distract from the fact that my vajayjay was getting waxed.)
Maybe this is just how things are done here in New York State?
My groupon has another wax so I’ll be going back to use it, but I’m not sure if I’ll add this place to my pampering repertoire. They did a good job but it’s not what I’d call the most luxurious experience.

I went there about a year ago for a living social deal, the place was ok nothing really special and quite frankly expensive for the experience. I was grossed out by the fact that there was a little dog just hanging out at the «Spa». Had I seen the dog before I was mid pedicure I would have asked for my money back since that is not the proper place for a pet.
