DebtorWise Foundation is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable financial education to financially distressed and low-income households. It is the nation’s leading provider of online Credit Counseling and Debtor Education courses that satisfy the Federal Court’s education requirements for filing consumer bankruptcy.
History
Established in 2010.
DebtorWise Foundation is an innovator in community financial outreach programs. It offers a «First-Generation Pathways» internship/mentorship program for High School seniors who will be the first in their families to attend college. It also offers practical financial information in Spanish and supports underserved, low-income Latino migrant worker outreach programs. In late 2013, DebtorWise foundation launched a major empirical study of consumer bankruptcy. This longitudinal project will be the most comprehensive study of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filers since the 2005 reform of the consumer bankruptcy code.

Business Owner
Author of the widely acclaimed book Credit Card Nation; The Consequences of America’s Addiction to Credit (Basic Books, 2000), which received the 2001 Robert Ezra Park Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sociological Practice, Dr. Manning is a specialist in consumer finance, deregulation of retail banking, comparative economic development, immigration, ethnic/race relations and globalization.
