Specialties

Bomberos sub and bake shop specializes in custom cakes, both Puertorican style and traditional American for any occasion. Also specializing in Cuban style sandwiches for a different outlook on lunch and dinner options. All of our products are made fresh in store, from our empanadas to our very own breads. We are always adding new and innovative items to our menu, based mainly on the request of our customers. That is why we are appreciative of all the feedback we are receiving and would like that trend to continue. We hope to provide you with a unique experience when you come visit our establishment, located right past Kodak business park. Our name Bomberos; means firefighters in Spanish, being that the owner is an active firefighter with the city of Rochester, also the building that houses Bomberos, used to be a firehouse up until the late 70s making Bomberos the obvious choice when selecting or name. We have parking located in the rear of our building and we provide free WiFi.

History

Established in 2015.

Bomberos was established in January 2015 in the Northwest side of the city of Rochester NY. Located at 360 west Ridge Rd. The name Bomberos translates in Spanish meaning firefighters, being that the founder is a firefighter of the city of Rochester and the building itself: used to be a firehouse, the name seemed to fit perfectly in the grand scheme of things.

Hello my name is Al Velazquez founder and owner of Bomberos sub and bake shop. I am currently working as a firefighter in the great city of Rochester NY. which is an honor for me. It also has always been a passion of mine to cook great food and share it with others. I am pleased to say I can now achieve my dream to share my passion, by serving up authentic puertorican meals in our shop. Made fresh everyday are our breads and pastries right in store never frozen like some other sub establishments. Come taste the difference and become part of our fast growing family.

I do love their fresh baked bread. There is a lot of flavor in their meat. When they add chipotle they add it, when they add jalapeño they really add it. I love it! Sample their signature sauces and maybe dip your sandwich in them, highly recommended. Their baked goods are solidly good, flaky, sweet.

Ok so being Spanish from NYC having had one of the best Cuban sandwiches in NYC and Miami I have to say there Large Cuban Sandwich is pretty good :) also there Latin pastry bread filled with Guava is really good my parents really enjoy it when I bring some home :)

They have the best empanadas ever! They’re huge, and the fillings are amazing. It took me forever to stop and try one, and now I’m going to stop as often as possible. The quality and the price cannot be beat in Rochester. And yes, I’ve been to the public market and food truck rodeo. This place is so much better! Both the beef and chicken are must try!

Great place for a quick lunch and hearty meal. My husband and I shared the pizza sandwich and Cuban sandwich. Cuban sandwich was the best with the succulent pork, ham, melted cheese and pickles. Had a very rich texture with the special sauce. Beef empanadas are the best; made hot, fresh and cheap for a good price. Would come back here as a regular for the Cuban sandwiches and empanadas. Owner is also great and décor is clean, spacious and inviting with the added touch of the firehall decorations. Space used to be an old firehall with the owner being a full-​time firefighter himself.

Love bomberos! Usually get the steak sub. Which has a generous amount of steak on fresh baked bread, yum! Also have gotten their Italian sub, breakfast sandwiches, empanadas. Everything I’ve gotten here is delicious. Love coming here.

My family and I went to Bomberos for lunch today for the first time. After a wonderful experience it definitely won’t be our last time! The food was delicious and very fresh. The service was fast and friendly. It’s a very nice place owned by a Rochester firefighter and his family and decorated accordingly! I loved the fresh roll and my sub. We got pastries to take home and everyone loves them. There is nothing not to like about this place! I highly recommend it. They have parking in the back behind the shop which is very convenient. It is great to see a business like this open in Rochester. We can’t wait to go back!
