Meijer

The checkout times at this Meijer are totally ridiculous. I like the convenience of Meijer having everything I need in one store; however it would probably take less time to go to two stores. I waited in the checkout line with my one year old yesterday for 22 minutes. There were maybe 6 registers open in addition to self check (which also had out of control lines). The checkers are all slow as molasses. I was about to lose my mind. If I had more time, I would have left my cart and headed to Kroger. At least at Kroger, when the lines get long, they ALWAYS open more registers and I hardly wait at all. Even when the lines at Costco are super long, they go fast and it is never an issue. This store needs some TLC. I will be going to the Adams location or another store from now on, even though it is not as close.

Meijers store at Rochester & Auburn — horrible experience
I went food shopping here today, all lines were extremely long. I finally found one, after being in line for a few minutes, the cashier shouts to me that she is closed.
I explained that I will not be leaving since I have already been in line. She continued to shout at me in an extremely. I requested to see a manager, at Wichita she shouted that she was the manager.
Her name I Pam P. She is a very bad example of a horrible manager, and she be removed from her position. She set a ver bad example for her associates. I do not plan to return to this store, I have never experienced such disrespectful behavior towards a customer. Unacceptable.

Shelves were not stocked and there was no one stocking them. Man working the U-​scan during our visit was impatient and dazed. Our light was blinking and I had to address him twice to come over. He physically swatted my husbands hand out of the way, while speaking only the words get out. Lines were unbelievable and cashiers slow.

No matter what time of week I go, I have to prepare myself for at least an additional 20 minutes of wait time in line (before its my turn to check out). Far too long for the level of service and availability this store purports to be known for.

Great place to get all my shopping done in one place. Groceries, hardware, home goods, pharmacy. I like the idea of one stop shopping and the time I save by not going to multiple locations to pick up a few things at each place. This location is generally clean and well stocked and the employees are friendly and very helpful.

I live near this Meijer, so location is convenient … However, I spend more time waiting in line to pay, then I do grabbing the few items I need. No matter what time/​day I go there are ALWAYS lines at the checkout. They need more cashiers … I really wish there was a closer store for the quick gallon of milk I may need. When doing my weekly shopping I drive to a different store… Ugh

An average Meijer. My rating is more due to my experience at that particular Meijer. Coming up to this location for the very first time, I was very confused by the sign placement on the store in accordance to the door. It might have just been me, but I parked on the almost opposite side of the lot due to the «Meijer» sign not being close to or above the front door like the locations usually do.
Another issue I had was buying one of the holiday boxes of Jack Daniel’s Honey. It had the wired anti-​theft projection on it so it required a different type of device to remove it. NOBODY knew how to get it off. So I was traveling from cashier to cashier trying to find someone to be able to get the device off. It was very frustrating because I wanted to grab the device and do it myself, but I knew that would be rude of me to do so.

No one that works here knows how to use mPerks. Almost lost out on $ 6. Glad I checked my receipt. Politely waited in line again behind the customer after me to get mPerks applied. The woman at the register just stared at me the whole time like a dumbass, waited until I got all the way up again and told me I have to go wait in line at customer service. Went to customer service. It took them forever to figure out how to give me the discount that I waited in line forever for. I only recommend using this store if you go to self checkout. Last time I went to self checkout I had no problem using mPerks.
Meijer isn’t that great of a store as far as quality goes. I only go here for the discounts. If it takes twenty minutes next time to apply a discount, I am just going to go to Target across the street instead.

One good thing left about Meijer is the Meijer brand diapers and overnight diapers and the reasonable price. But that is the only reason I ever go here anymore. The bananas are NEVER nice or green and taste terrible. The strawberries are usually moldy before you get them home, and the Meijer brand bread gets moldy within a day also. MPerks has turned into a joke. They keep raising the threshold to get rewards to something unattainable. So even if you clip every reward and do ALL your shopping at Meijer, you’ll never make it. I decided to switch to Aldi instead and have been enjoying a 40% cut in our grocery bill, fresher and better tasting produce and meat with much better prices that my family loves. I actually drive 10 – 15 miles out of my way now to go to the Aldi in Shelby Twp rather than going to this Meijer which is right by my house. This store has gone downhill. Not to mention the employees here — my toddler was having a tantrum in the entryway and the greeter just stared at me like I was an alien last time I was there and I was so uncomfortable I actually just left and went to Aldi. This store also used to carry pedia sure vanilla powder for a very long time which my son needs in his milk, but they suddenly stopped and no one could tell me anything and they «claimed» they never carried it and argued with me like I was nuts. Funny my digital receipts show me purchasing it there weekly for a year! Also, I am all for hiring disabled folks, but one of the last times I was there, the guy who makes the «honking» sound and counts how many carts he collected ran me down with a cart pushing me with one into the corral where I was sporting some pretty bad bruises for over a week. The people who work at the U Scan here just like to stand around and talk, so if your register is erroring out (and it does often), you’ll be waiting a very very long time for them to quit chatting and assist you. I give up on Meijer. Don’t even get me started on the disgusting bathrooms here either. If my kid needs a diaper I have to change him in the car because the bathrooms are gross always. The one in the deli area has had dried feces smeared on the wall for about a year. Yuck. If I’m gonna spend top dollar on groceries, I will go to Nino Salvaggio or Fresh Time, at least the stores are clean.

This is the Meijer I’ve coming to the last two decades. Overall, they have a great selection of products. However, certain sections like men’s clothing could still be cheaper. Meijer sometimes is a little on the higher end when they don’t have things on sale or offer minimal coupons. In a way, this is where Walmart dominates much of the competition by offering similar goods for much lower prices. I never really took advantage of some of Meijer’s other departments. They have a Starbucks, their Bakery, Deli, Optical Department. In order to be competitive, they’ve really done a lot to move up. The ice cream from the deli area is worth the price. Yesterday, I tried a Spicy Chicken Sandwich (1.99) and 3 piece order of mozzarella sticks (1.69). They didn’t appear to have marinara sauce so they should get on that. The mozzarella sticks are average at best though. The sandwich just consisted of a chicken patty which is reminiscent of Wendy’s spicy chicken. It only contains pickles and jalapenos but it’s a good snack for the price. Overall, Meijer is always friendly with their service and restocking of products.

Meijer in general used to be a great chain. Today their pricing is not competitive with other all in one stores. The stores are aging and the format is flat. This store is very dated in particular. I quit using meijer for my needs as a result of both issues. Meijer needs to reinvent itself soon or risk its longterm appeal.

Meijer tries hard because Meijer is busy. I have shopped here for over 12 years and love it’s location. In a pinch, this store will have the type of something that you are looking for. It might not have the brand and specific kind, but generally, if you’re looking for something in a category, you will find it here. For example, Soup. They will have soup. Candy, they will have candy. Fruit, they will have fruit. (You get the idea)
Shelves are usually restocked nightly and the service is always friendly and kind. I am continually impressed when I am there in the middle of the night — the service is still friendly and kind. They have very busy days, so I’m usually very happy with the speed of service.
Two reasons why it gets only three stars.
1. Price. It’s not the best bargain — but again, in a pinch, it’s a reliable place for a needed item. If you have time to shop around, you might find a better deal elsewhere.
2. Honking man. This might make me a bad person, but at this particular location, there is a guy who gets shopping carts from the parking lot — every day, all day. Seriously, the job has to suck — but when he enters the doors to stack the carts, he begins to honk (Yes, honk like a goose) at people who are in front of him. You can hear him from the back of the store. I know why he does it — but still, a simple «excuse me» is a lot less intrusive than honking like a semi-​truck. Sorry dude — it was cute and funny at first, now it’s not so much.
Overall, I will continue to shop at Meijer.

This is my go to meijer ! I love it and it doesn’t compare to any other meijer out there. The layout is perfect and you can usually always find what you need ;) the staff is also very friendly.

This Meijer was pretty good when I first started going to it last year. Since then it has really seemed to decline. Here are a couple of the annoying things I’ve experienced:
— One day I was buying a bottle of wine, and the self-​checkout attendant walked up on some high horse saying «Okay kid, I’m gonna need to see some ID.» She gave me an attitude and I almost asked for the manager at that point. I mean really? It’s a crime to even try to buy alcohol when you’re underage. Don’t be so quick to assume things, lady. However I have never seen that woman working there ever since.
— The shelves are usually empty, especially the ice cream. Your selection is really limited because of this, and the icing on the cake (pun intended) most of them are freezerburned to hell and are covered in half an inch of frost.
— Floors are dirty, even in the summer. Almost never clean when I go there.
— Almost never enough cashiers on duty. Very long lines from time to time.
— Merchandise is damaged/​tampered with pretty often. Things are opened and unwrapped all over the damn place.
I’ve seen worse, but this place is really going off the deep end.

This location has gone down hill fast. From bare shelves to rotting meat to lazy workers. This is the closest location to me but I have to change stores. Today I saw lunch meat that was open and rotting still on the shelves. I meat worker carrying an empty box until he got to to an end cap of cookies and decided to just leave it there. Finally the shelves in many areas are just bare.

I’ve been to this Meijer’s a few times, and overall, I think I like it better then the one off Adam’s Road. Granted, it’s a pain in the butt to get in and out of due to it being off Rochester Road, but it’s still a nice store. Place is always busy when I come here, regardless of the time of day.
The place is large, well stocked and has plenty of stuff to choose from. Yes, it’s the regular Meijer’s stock, but I just love the layout. Parking can be a challenge, as it’s one of the busier stores I’ve been to. Staff is good, always well stocked and I’ve never left disappointed.

I have an intimate history with this store.
When I was fifteen, I had a bad (as in a trouble maker and rebelious) friend who stole his mom’s car one night and drove me and my next door neighbor to this meijer. This was probably around 1994. I was probably around midnight. We bought those sticky hands on sticky strings that you’d get over by the gumball machines. We’d walk up and down the aisles, whipping the hand at random products. The hand would stick and then we’d pull the sticky string and the product would come tumbling off the shelf as we walked around like it didn’t matter.
My next door neighbor peed on the magazine rack. We stole a lot of stuff from that place.
On the weekends, my neighbors mother who was a far too trusting sweet heart would shop their for hours. We would go with her and then cross Auburn RD and steal CDs from Blockbuster music. I didn’t like the rush, but my neighbor loved it. The first CD I stole was a Jerky Boys CD. I was scared as hell going through those security doors. I wanted to die, but then we started doing it every weekend.
Getting back to Meijer, that is where I finally got caught stealing some C batteries for a radio, the damned day before I was going on a family vacation. Worst of all, it was a road trip. The security guard who caught me was actually quite chill as he saw the look of agony on my face. He told me that it wasn’t the end of the world, as I waited for my parents to come and claim me. Luckily, I had to work a 3 to close shift after that up at McDonalds. I was never so happy to have to be at work. The next day my father pulled me aside and miraculously exclaimed that this wasn’t going to ruin our vacation, that I knew what I did was wrong and we wouldn’t talk about it again. Believe it or not, that actually worked on me. I never really stole much again after that.
There were always lots of freaks and goons of all sorts up at that meijer past midnight. You had us trouble makers, and then there were the older folk who were maybe anxious types who didn’t like to shop in crowds. I don’t see as many kids running a mouk like that these days.
I miss that, although I find that gallon smashing thing to be pretty funny. Its where a kid grabs a couple of gallons of milk and fakes falling while tossing two full gallons of milk into the air, only to have them explode all around them as they hit the floor.
Anyway, I’m a responsible adult now. For this reason I prefer the far more gentile Meijer off of Adams road. It is smaller. Its never that crowded like the one in Rochester. I’m only up there at respectable hours, so I’m not sure if it attracts the riff raff at night, but its probably the nicest Meijer in the area.

I can find what I need 90% of the time, but unfortunately due to my work schedule I can only shop in the late evening hours. Around 8pm, there are only 2 or 3 cashiers open and you end up waiting quite a while to check out. The produce is always fresh and the meat selection isn’t bad either. I love clipping Mperks and saving money.

I will start this review off by saying that I like animals.
If a store chooses to sell animals, they should keep the habitats clean and the animals fed. I go to this location pretty often and the fish tanks are filthy and full of dead fish. Several times the fish have had ick as well.
The Meijer on Adams is better with their animal care and cleanliness.
I won’t support places that don’t care for the animals they sell. Will not go to this Meijer location again.

I don’t enjoy shopping at Meijer. I will go to the Coolidge store when I need to stock up on canned beans or veggie burgers, but only when I’m really desperate.
So, I was pleasantly surprised by the Rochester Hills Meijer. The produce section was very clean and organized, and relative to other Meijers, the produce looked fresh.
Also, the customers seemed far less miserable than the people I bump into on Coolidge.
And even though it was pretty busy, I was able to get the few items I needed, and check out in a hurry, which hardly ever happens at «my» Meijer.
So, while I will probably not become a regular, I wouldn’t mind going here during a Sunday run to Nino’s to pick up miscellaneous Meijery things.
