Stay under a freeway overpass instead.
Sure, you’re likely to get robbed, stabbed, and approached by crack whores. But the primary difference is that you won’t have to pay for it. Oh, and the underpass probably smells better.
We had a group of friends in for a weekend event. Three different people were given rooms that were occupied. Showers didn’t work. Air conditioning didn’t work.
We didn’t feel safe leaving anything in the room; for all we knew, they’d give out our room keys to the next guest who checked in.
Customers were smoking in the elevator… When the elevator worked.
The «non-​smoking» room smelled like stale cigarettes and dead hookers.
And, yes, there were crack addicts.
Stay away. The only way to salvage this place starts with a wrecking ball.

Oh My G-​d.
I didn’t think that it could get worse. How wrong I was.
They charged me for two nights, even though I checked out at the front desk after one.
I called the Wyndham customer service line, and wasted an hour listening to music.
Called the hotel, and they said they’d reverse the entire charge. Instead, they charged me a second time.
Still working this out with my bank. A call to the Better Business Bureau is next. And then, maybe the police.
Do NOT stay here. Do NOT stay at any Wyndham property. Do not ever give them your credit card information.

Oh, man. This place popped my 1 star cherry! Seriously, just find somewhere else to stay. This motel is gross, and kind of scary. I’m pretty sure it mostly caters to the «by the hour» crowd, if ya catch my drift. I’m no stranger to cheap hotels, and my standards are realistic — this place is just icky. The front desk girl was really sweet, though. So there’s that.

The place is filthy we had bugs in the rooms. Blood on the sheets. Stairwell smells of urine. Staff was not helpful. Sheets didn’t get changed. Room was not cleaned. If you are booking during graduation season boom AHEAD OF TIME so you’re not stuck with this place. $ 129 a night is a complete rip off. The rooms were smoking rooms we brought air freshener and a candle to offset the smell didn’t help much. If I could leave no stars I would!

One star is generous for this run down dump. Stopped toilet. Had to call desk to only be told too busy to bring me a plunger. Called several more times and then again in morning. Finally one arrived. Dirty too. Maids didn’t even clean and restock coffee maker for next morning. Once a premier hotel chain. What happened Ramada. You can do better than this

Pulled in at 1:30am driving home from college. The idiot at the front desk said he wouldn’t let me stay there because I wasn’t 21. Had to sleep in my car. I’ll be 21 in 3 months.

Hotel nightmare! Formal Police Report also Better Business Bureau formal complaint made! HOTEL NIGHTMARE! AWFUL HOTEL!!! AND POLICE REPORT DONE!
Checked in about 6 AM. then met halls filled with unlawful looking hotel staff or workers smoking illegal marijuana in the hall to elevator! Scarred our kids, stayed about 4 hours and found bed bugs bites all over wife and daughter! The halls and elevator and all smelt awful! Moldy weed marijuana smelly place! I have never ever ever smoked weed but know what it smells like from police school presentations for education. The hall lights was filled with water where the roof was leaking too! Made formal complaint and then was promised a $ 18 discount. Next day checking online banking we find they not only didn’t honor the discount, THEY CHAREGED 2 X $ 57.60 and then called our bank and then called the POLICE and a FORMAL POLICE REPORT COMPLAIN FILED! The police department said they had many complaints! DO NOT, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!! PLEASE DO NOT!!!

I can corroborate the first 12 reviews of this MOTEL. What the heck happened to the Ramada brand? If you have any breathing disorder — avoid. These non-​smoking rooms (we stayed in two of them) were clearly smoking rooms once upon a time. The door locks are sub-​standard and security is non-​existent. Yes, the rate is great but here you do get what you pay for. Staff is polite and accommodating earning the two stars.
These rooms are not clean. Not by a long shot. I’ve stayed in similar places and at least the counters and appliances were clean. Not here unfortunately. Grime and grit everywhere.

I can’t even say 1 star is accurate. I needed a hotel that allows dogs and I’ve had success with other Ramada Inns. The staff was professional but I left after 10 minutes in the room. The carpets were disgusting, I didn’t want to touch the bed sheets and the back side of the hotel looks like a motel and people were partying on the walk ways at 7:00 pm. Point is, I didn’t feel safe sleeping there even with my dogs.

The only reason this place didn’t get 1 star was because the staff was nice and price was only $ 50/​night. The pictures to this place can be deceiving. Everything is dated and worn down. The hot breakfast was a joke. Only thing that was hot were the waffles and the unfrozen scrambled eggs. I was traveling with a large group and was not the one who chose the hotel. On the 2^nd day I noticed the end of my comforter reeked of urine. About 15 minutes later I had packed up and checking out a day early and found another nearby hotel.

Don’t walk — run away from this hotel. I spent one night there and I“m covered in bed bug bites. Spent all the next day stripping and cleaning my home.

Worst motel EVER! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Everything is very old, dirty, unkept, and in disrepair and dangerous…
broken outlets with wires out, nothing updated, nothing is fixed when broken, the building shakes. Seems unstable. Walkways are warped/​shifted. WTF keeps up the walkway around the building on the 2^nd and 3^rd floor? They used very flimsy material as «railing» construction around the 2^nd and 3^rd floor balconies. Don’t let kids push on it! Dangerous. Property in Bad location sandwiched between highway and downtown streets. Stinky water canal runs though place. The ramada parking lot seems to be a short cut for many types of people walking through. Not a family place. Scary.
Interior and external area is Dark and gloomy. Old beat up doors that don’t latch well. Carpet ripped and burned. Ripped curtains. No working vacuum? Trash cans full. Litter everywhere. Cigarette butts. Rooms smell like tobacco smoke. Rough place. Rough neighborhood. Make sure you can protect yourself here. Weapon recommended. I stood guard all night. No relaxing sleep here. To top it off, we all saw strange shadows that didn’t make sense. Chilling. Maybe it’s haunted lol.

If you’re in a grunge a rock band and need a cheap place to say, then you found it. The hotel was very noisy, the rooms are dated, and the carpets are filthy. Luckily it was Roanoke so I didn’t feel unsafe, but in just about any other major city I would have eaten the cost of the room and gone somewhere else. I felt better that there was a cop patrolling the back parking lot. As a single guy on a short trip, it was cheap and good enough. I spent very little time in the room, and at least the sheets seemed clean.
They offer a free breakfast, which basically consists of eggs, lots of pastries, cereal, and a waffle maker. They offer free wifi, which is actually cool since most hotels want to charge for this nowadays.
If you are traveling with a family, or even a wife/​girlfriend, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your stay in Roanoke.

Potentially acceptable for its price. Our room was renovated and very nice. But everything else about the hotel is pretty decrepit and rundown. The carpet on the main floor by the elevators was disgusting. The back side of the hotel looked like one of the shadiest hotels I have ever seen. But, probably by design, we were placed on the «safer» front side. If you can afford better, I suggest you buy better.

One of the cheapest hotels in the area and a 2 Star hotel. The room was dated, floors look unclean. The hotel is noisy. I had to cut on the TV and run the heat to drown out the noise. I did not feel completely safe there. The breakfast consisted of cereal, waffles, oatmeal, muffins, doughnuts, yogurt, coffee and juice. They also have sausage gravy and eggs. One thing that I did like was that they have HBO, which many hotels do not furnish. You can also buy movies for a fee. The office staff is nice.

We stayed at this hotel due to the fact it was closest to the hospital and we had family there. We arrived in the area late and hotels were full. Worst place we have ever stayed and I do mean ever.
First of all the room doors have enough room for snakes to crawl into your room as there is a creek running right at the doors. only thing separating it is a small embankment. They need to fix the doors but obviously this is something that has always been.
A snake was found slithering in the breakfast area so this should be enough for them.
Next they gave our personal information out not once but three separate times. The lady at the front desk printed off a hotel guest list and gave it out. We were harassed horribly bad.
Do not stay at this hotel your personal information as ours was may be given out which poses a threat to ones saftey. Needless to say we checked out made a report and will never go back. It isn’t safe to stay at this hotel. Apparently a lot of drug dealers, drug addicts and such frequent this place. Please for you and your families saftey and protection go elsewhere. We will now be checking all our ccs to ensure no fraudulent active is occurring.

I travel to Roanoke/​Salem to visit family several times per year. This was my first stay at the Ramada Roanoke. The hotel is run down, everything is old, dated from the 80s, dirty, smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Our floor was filled with loud drunken locals staying there long term. We had a non smoking double queen room. We don’t smoke and our clothes smelled like smoke. The only reason I stayed there was due to all other hotels were sold out for nights I wanted to visit. Thank goodness we stayed busy with activities away from the hotel. Avoid this place!

Worst hotel experience ever. Nastiest hotel ever. Dead bugs hanging from the ceiling, our non smoking room reeked of smoke, vending machines were completely sold out of drinks, fitness center consisted of 3 machines, one was out of order the other 2 weren’t even plugged in! What a joke! Dirty smelly bed linens, nasty hallways and obviously not kept up maintenance wise. Unfortunately we had NO other hotel options due to a large event otherwise we would have run away from this dump!

We booked this room after 5 days without power in the sweltering summer. Although the air conditioning was so very welcome, and the hotel lobby was set up beautifully, it was not at all representative of the hotel itself.
The halls and balconies were poorly lit, dirty, with broken tiles and decay very evident. You could see the street below where the balcony walls did not meet the floors and the insulation had decayed and browned.
The «laundry facilities» consisted of a washer and dryer crammed into a small space next to an ice machine — with no lights and sketchy power sources. The «recreational facilities» consisted of 2 tandem bikes — seemingly from the prior century — and a treadmill that was unusable due to the belt being dry-​rotted. (Yes, it was that old). There was a strange odor in the lobby hallways and the parking lot was full of holes, chunks of asphalt, and cracks.
The room itself was no better — outside of the conveniences of air and power. The room was billed as a queen size room. The headboard was queen size, the bed itself was a full. The blanket had holes in it and barely fit the bed. There were dark stains on the carpet and the box spring. There was no smoke alarm, and no knob for the «heater» in the bathroom. The toilet was filthy and looked as if the underside of the rim had not been cleaned in ages. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were cut and did not fit in the drop-​down grid properly, leaving dark gaps in the ceiling area. Although there were a microwave and mini-​fridge in the room, both were old, scarred, and dirty. There were spill stains/​runs on the wall, as if someone had thrown something liquid against it and it had never been cleaned. The lampshades were dirty and torn and the ironing board cover was stained and dirty as well.
It was, however, nice to have a clean pool to provide some relief from the misery.
It seems as if more attention has been paid to the lobby — to give appearance of beauty and style — than to the rooms, which are much more important to the guests who must reside in them. Again — although it provided a respite from our situation — I would not recommend this hotel in the state that it is currently in.

Cheap room? Yes. Friendly staff? Yes. Clean? Not so much… Our non-​smoking room smelled like a chain-​smoker had stayed there before us. The bathroom felt dirty, and the floor in the tub gave the feeling that I was going to fall through the floor at any minute. Towels needed a little extra bleach too. Can you beat it for $ 60/​night? Probably, if you look around a bit.
