Fairfield Inn & Suites Roanoke North

While the hotel itself was pretty decent, the noise was pretty bad (building alarms, etc. from the wind) so we had to turn the A/​C on to drown out the noise (which didn’t do it very well).
Comfortable beds, which is what you’re there for anyway, right?
Great customer service though and the place looks recently upgraded.
Would definitely stay here again on a less windy night. :)

We found this hotel via Marriott points but I’d recommend it regardless. It’s right off the highway, clean, and convenient. I saw a couple reviews about the limited breakfast but I found the breakfast to be extremely convenient and plentiful. Checkin was painless and there were upgrades available!
There’s a decent Mexican restaurant within walking distance too! Try the coronarita! :)

My family has stayed here probably 20 times over the years — it’s our regular stop over while visiting family. It’s no resort, but it’s clean, the rooms are decent, the breakfast is good (though I’ve noticed what they provide has gotten a little leaner over the years), the staff is very friendly (but do NOT as for restaurant recommendations, pretty sure they get a kickback because the places they recommend aren’t that good). The workout space and the pool are on the small side, but never very crowded in my experience. Overall, I consider this place well worth the cost.

The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming. Cookies were set out for the guests, and the rooms were clean and well-​kept.
Additionally, the staff was very willing to give suggestions about where to go in the area. I would stay there again.

Located right off of Rt 81, this hotel was recently renovated. I have always found the service and the rooms very good here. The breakfast is limited, but then it is NOT a restaurant. We like staying here and have never had any issues.

I work for the Gov. And travel on a weekly basis and stay at Marriott chains. I show up at this Marriott Fairfield Inn and have problems checking in… No reservation. I openly admit that the booking issues were the result of booking mistakes by my employer. There are no available rooms ANYWHERE in the area due to bar exams and a softball tournament. The lady at the front desk says that they do have a room for the night but not at the «gov rate». I explain my situation and that I am in between a «rock and a hard place» and ask for an exception at least until tomorrow. She says she can’t help. Okay… can I talk to the manager /​supervisor? So, he comes out… ALREADY with a bad attitude and completely unfriendly… doesn’t even introduce himself. I explain the situation again… he says «no, I can’t help you, I have to charge you the normal rate.» I explain I’m on gov. travel, a vet (yes… I pulled the «vet card» hoping for some appreciation) Nothing still. Then I say… well, I’m just looking for some customer service as I’m a regular customer. He then says, AND I QUOTE… «Well, we have to make money at this hotel and we are highly booked and I choose profit over customer service.»
So, after that, I’m obviously upset… I ask for his managers and his name… which is «Kermit»… and I think he is giving me a «nickname» and ask if that’s a nickname or his real name. His response… «What do you think I’m making it up or something?!»
I call his manager… she is no more willing to help, resolve or compensate for her employee’s rude behaviors. I call the cooperate HQ and they aren’t willing to help either. They TRY to make me feel better by giving me a «cookie» of 5000 points on my rewards account. AWESOME… I can almost stay 10 min. in a room for that.
Long story short… I get rebooked at another Marriott Fairfield about 30 min. away. I get there and it’s not at the «gov rate.» I tell the assistant manager… she apologizes and changes it on the spot… no issues, no attitude, no questions asked. NIGHT AND DAY…
NOTE: As I was standing in line at the poorly run Marriott Fairfield Inn… the lady at the desk was helping another customer having a room key issue. As he walked away and turned his back… she looked at me… rolled her eyes and made some childish face at him like he was an idiot. Sort of shows me the entire attitude of the staff at that hotel.
I will be in the area in the future and will make a point NOT to stay at this specific hotel. I’ve never been treated so rudely with blatant disregard for customer service or compassion. POOR… POOR… POOR. Shame on you Marriott… I’m highly disappointed.

nice and clean, category 4 hotel with category 1 breakfast. No many choice for breakfast, and can not compare with fairfield inn we stayed a few days before in TX.

First, let me clarify that this is a 3 star hotel– but with at 4-​star staff. The ladies are all very accommodating and conversational, flexible if you require late check-​out or have small children.
The hot breakfast is adequate, though limited. Location is convenient to the highway.

We booked our room 4 days in advance. I had been driving all day and was looking forward to a hot shower. Well, there were some hairs in the tub. Very pleasant to see
someone’s body hair in the bathroom.
The room was 78 degrees and smelled musty. The continental breakfast was so so. The lady working it however was very pleasant and kept everything stocked.
The pool is outside so if you’re staying here outside of hot summer months leave your trunks at home. There isn’t a hot tub. The exercise room has some nice elliptical equipment and they have quality dumbbells from 5 – 50 lbs. There is a flat bench in there also. Moral of the story. I’ve been in better places and I’ve stayed in worse. But for the amount you pay to stay at a hotel these days you’d think the room would be completely clean. Body hair in the bathroom is a big time pet peeve. No excuse for that.

Avoid this property. Expensive and STRANGE check in policy. Gave us our keys at 2:15 p.m. but told us we couldn’t access our room until check in at 3:00 p.m. We sat in the lobby for 10 min and then decided to go see if our rooms were ready. We’d been in the car for 4 hours, were tired and wanted to rest before dinner We checked. Rooms were ready. We went to our car and got our roller bags. As we went past the front desk clerk, she yelled at us, ARE YOU ACCESSING YOUR ROOMS EARLY? We said, they are ready, She said, «you aren’t allowed», then turned to a colleague and asked if they should call security! Are you kidding? The same woman was at the front desk when we checked out the next day and got the same rudeness. As a Marriott Elite member, I was stunned. In decades of personal and professional travel, I have never encountered such poor treatment.

This hotel was just renovated 2 months ago — so everything was just about brand new.
Very convenient location just off I-​81 — rooms were spacious and the staff very warm and friendly. The breakfast bar has the best selection of an Fairfield I have stayed at recently. Very nice Marriott branded hotel — I will stay here again.

We spent one night while passing through the area, but this is a nice enough motel with enough amenities that you could stay there for several nights while exploring the area (Roanoke, hiking, etc.). Either it’s a fairly new hotel or it’s been upgraded recently because everything was in great condition. Good-​size outdoor pool and a separate room with a large hot tub (could fit 6 comfortably).
Full free breakfast, not the cheapo continental breakfast of lousy packaged pastries.
Note that it’s not really close to downtown Roanoke. It’s 10 – 15 minutes by returning to the highway and taking Rt 581 into town. You can get there more quickly on local roads, but it’s also easy to get lost.

I stay here alot and this is a great and moderately priced Fairfield. The breakfast bar has a lot to offer than just the traditional continental fare. And you will get to know Geraldine for sure! She will make you smile first thing in the morning!
The rest of the staff is very friendly including Chelsea, Ricky and Kelly. They will make you feel at home so stop by here and spend a night! The rooms are clean and well appointed and they should be getting ready to do the new Fairfield update or refresh, whatever they call it.

Gotta love hotels; nothing beats not having to worry about making your bed, or cleaning up pee from where you missed the toilet at 2am. Having done my fair bit of travel for business and pleasure, I’ve stayed in hotels ranging from Superfund-​eligible dumps, to swanky places where I’ll bump into Paris Hilton in the lobby. Being the humble fellow I am, I don’t mind staying at places that fall somewhere in the middle. Having to spend a few days in Roanoke VA on business, I wasn’t sure what to expect at the hotel my boss and I were booked at, the Marriott Fairfield. Fortunately, I was in for a pleasant surprise.
Located conveniently off of the interstate, that brightly-​lit Marriott sign was a welcome sight after a nearly 4-​hour drive from the Dulles Airport. Knowing we would be arriving late, my boss called ahead, to make sure there would be someone at the front desk, and just like they promised, there were not one, but two friendly desk clerks waiting for us upon arrival. The lobby was clean and spacious, with a small lounge off to one side, and plenty of seats to relax in. They got us checked in at light speed, and even handed us the large parcel of materials we UPS’ed in advance of our arrival. They were on top of their game; now to see how the room looks.
A quick elevator ride to the 4^th floor and a few steps down a corridor brings me face to face with my room, where I slide in the key card, hoping for the best. The lock clicks, and I’m greeted with a blast of cool air as I open the door. Dunno about anyone else, but I like my hotel rooms ice-​cold, and considering the hot and humid Roanoke weather, it makes it all the more welcoming after being out all day. I was impressed with the room; clean (nothing crawling around, and no unidentifiable stains on the floors, walls, or ceiling), and surprisingly spacious. The bathroom is off to one side as you enter, and straight ahead is a small living room with a small couch, work desk, and entertainment center with flatscreen TV and stereo. A minifridge, coffee pot, and microwave are tucked away in a small alcove, and ready to handle any midnight munchies you want to throw at them.
Bedroom was straight ahead, with a nicely-​made King-​size bed, just as I’d requested. A small nightstand is on either side, with another flatscreen TV in front of the bed. Dumping my bags in the closet, I start the task of settling in for the next couple days. Bed feels nice, and isn’t funky. A/​C controls are straightforward, and in no time flat I’ve got the room cold enough to hang a side of beef. Heavy curtains on the window do a good job of blocking out ambient light. And most importantly, the room was nice and quiet; aside from the air blowing from the A/​C duct, I couldn’t hear a thing from the hallways or next door. I didn’t have to listen to my next door neighbor hacking up a lung all night.
Waking up the next morning to get ready to face the day, I got to experience the bathroom. Nice and clean, with the usual toiletries laid out, and plenty of clean towels of all sizes. I also appreciated the double-​roll toilet paper dispenser, on account of the food I had on the plane the day before. Damn you yet again, United.
Heading downstairs, I got a little mixed up getting off the elevator; it’s easy to lose your sense of direction, so more signs pointing to the lobby, lounge, front desk, etc. would have come in handy. Continental breakfast was included in the package, and it got the job done. An area of to one side of the lounge had stations for waffles, cereals, juice fountain, fruit, and a mini-​fridge stocked with all kinds of microwavable sandwiches. Just help yourself. An attendant did a good job of cleaning up after the many slobs, as well as keeping everything stocked.
I must say I had an enjoyable stay at Marriott Fairfield in Roanoke. Surprisingly comfortable for a «low end» hotel in the Marriott hierarchy. I’d stay again without hesitation.

For a fairfield inn, it’s not that bad of a hotel. It’s rather modern and the bed is extremely comfortable. It’s also rather inexpensive for what you receive from staying here. Plus you get Marriott points from your stay.
The only downside to this place that I can come up with is that it’s not really near anything at all! Other than the Gander Mountain next door, a McDondals, and a few gas stations, this place is isolated from society. Expect to drive a bit if you want to get anything other than delivery pizza or a big mac. :)

Fairfields are low on the Marriott food chain. This hotel is very nicely appointed and appears pretty new. Fairfields are great because they are reasonably priced and breakfast is included. Each room also has a fridge and a microwave. AWESOME for the frequent business traveler.
The staff here is pretty friendly. No pets allowed.
