I will never shop here again despite all my attempts to support local businesses. I dislike the quality of their plants, their service and their attitude. The only thing I like is the availability of parking. The last two visits there were no other customers. I found out why!

I’ve been patronizing this nursery for years, they’re the the best. Frankie, the owner is extremely helpful knowledgeable. If you have any questions regarding plants and the care of them she’s the source. I get all my plants, pots and advice from these folks. They have been in business for over 40 years, something is going right. I try not shop at the big box garden centers, give the locals your time and money. Go green man and sustainable It’s better for your Karma, don’t hide in the bushes, remain as Wildly Feral as possible.

I have been very pleased with the Elwood Nursery. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The plants have all been healthy and are thriving. We are lucky to have a business like this on the peninsula. I highly recommend them.

This is a great nursery if you want high quality product and knowledgeable staff. I travel from North Torrance to shop here. You could go to Big Box stores for stuff, but half the time we end up returning their plants. Everything we have bought from Elwood’s has thrived, not just survived like the stuff from the big box stores. It is kind of like going to Bristol Farms or Whole Foods… you get what you pay for, and I have yet to be disappointed here. Every time I go up, the folks know the customers by name. So there is a lot of repeat business which means they are doing something right. Also, say«Hi» to Yuki, the resident Akita. She’s very friendly and calm… though she may let out a howl if she wants your attention. =o) She is good with kids and my puppy loves to visit her as well.

Great neighborhood nursery, and there aren’t many of those around anymore. Not a huge selection but the plants are of good quality and the people there are very friendly and helpfull. I don’t get anyone saying that Home Depot is a better place for plants. I just picked up some great veggie six packs for the winter garden here and they were big and healthy, not like the scrawny near death stuff you get at the mega marts. The selection of supplies inside is very comprehensive, you can get stuff here the mega marts don’t carry. My daughter got to feed the dog some treats and they sent us home with some nice, fresh persimmons. I’ll be back in the spring for my heirloom tomatoes and a few other things.

Nice neighborhood nursery, off the beaten track, that is much larger inside than it appears from the street. There’s plenty of free parking surrounding the place & you won’t fight traffic in the area because there isn’t any. This is why I go to the shopping mall, movie theater, and grocery store near this nursery… no hassles with crowds. So I went to Elwood Nursery looking for hanging plants, even though it’s the end of summer season. I spent quite a bit of time with a patient & knowledgeable employee, making my selections. I needed plants that would look good through the winter, and… because the plants were destined for a house on the Palos Verdes Hill… they had to be of a variety that would not attract the roaming peacocks. Yep, the PV peacocks are all over the place, quite a spectacular sight, but they do eat your outdoor plants if it’s a type that appeals to them. Those strange haunting calls you hear on the PV Hill, day and night, are the numerous wild peacocks — perhaps they’re spreading the word about their newest discoveries in botanical buffets? So I ended up with a couple of nice flowering perennials that are attracting happy hummingbirds but not peacocks, whew. The large plants cost me about $ 60 for two, not a bad price at all. Elwood gets 5 stars for service, selection, easy access, and prices. Five stars also for the hummingbirds that are reputed to bring good fortune. Not sure yet how many stars for the peacocks, but they are definitely fun to watch as they perch on other people’s roofs & porches, and as they admire their reflections in windows and shiny cars, and especially when they walk around with little chicks. However those suckers better stay away from my new peacock-resistant plants or they will run afowl of my good nature & my feathers will be ruffled…
