Specialties
The Woodcrest Library has a collection of 36,000 books, magazines, DVD’s, books on CD and music CD’s. It has Data Bases, free tutoring help on line, Downloadable E-books and music. The library provides weekly storytime for preschoolers and toddlers along with movies, Wii gaming and a very active Summer Reading Program.
History
Established in 2001.
The Woodcrest Library began as a stop on the Riverside County Bookmobile schedule in 1999. The bookmobile stopped in front of the Stater Bros. Market located in the Woodcrest Plaza shopping center. By 2001 it was decided that the Woodcrest area needed a library building of its own. Space was leased in the same shopping center and two suits were combined to make a 1,800 square foot area to house the new library. The library opened October 21, 2001. This store front had all of the necessary requirements. It had public computers, a children’s area, tables for studying, magazines and comfortable chairs to read them in. The library was an instant success.
By 2006 we had outgrown the store front location. The county built a beautiful 10,080 square foot LEEDS Certified building to house the new Woodcrest Community Library. Meet the Manager
Connie R.
Manager
Connie Rynning has worked in the Riverside County Library System for 32 years. She began as a Library Clerk Trainee, in 1980, at the Palm Desert Library. In 1997 the Riverside County Supervisors signed a contract with Library Systems and Services to manage the County Library System. In 2000 Connie took the position of Branch Manager at the Canyon Lake Library. She stayed there until the Woodcrest Library opened its doors in 2001. The Woodcrest Library was located in a store front in the Stater Bro’s shopping center until a new County Building was built in 2007. Connie has been Branch Manager of the new library for the past 5 years.
