Tek One Autoworks

Please don’t subject yourself to this nightmare shop. Decent mechanics but no business sense. My car sat in that shop for over 2 years with constant bull**** excuses. No customer support, no follow up phone calls. Lets put it this way if you believe in the motto «The customer is always right.» Then this is not the shop for you. The owner will argue and fight to the bitter end. Which is why i had to take my car back. Almost forcibly i mind you just to get my car back bec it was constant excuses. I am not the only one who has went thru this torture. Thats why this place has such few reviews, only from people he asked to write a positive review for him.
Don’t get me wrong, One of the mechanics is OK. I would def ask for paperwork to make sure they are certified.

First I’d like to note to readers that this review is long overdue and I do not know how Tekone Autoworks operates currently.
My car, a Nissan z32 NA auto, was taken into Tekone Autoworks on August 18^th 2011. I was told the estimated date of completion for the project to be finished was September 16^th 2011.
Work to be done:
–Auto NA converted to 5 speed stock twin turbo
–Rebuilt engine with new internals
Three weeks goes by and I go to the shop to pick up a radiator for my friend and check on the progress. My car was still in its original spot of where I had left it. The only thing that really was done to it is that it had more dirt on it from sitting.
(I don’t think I am being unreasonable when one week away from the expected completion date, there is not a damn thing done. I know the world isn’t perfect but when there is a delay in production, a good customer service business would advise the ones who pay their bills.)
I then had to call Alex for a status update two weeks after the estimated completion date had passed. Alex told me, «Once I get the small block I can finish your car.» Alex also told me, «I am very busy and you have to understand that your car isnt the only one here» I replied, «Yes I am aware of that and I dont want to rush you but I would like to know what is going on with my car.» All Alex said as a reply was, «Ok I will call you when its done.» –End of phone conversation–
Next, I go with my friend to check on the «progress» on October 4^th 2011. When we arrived I saw that my car was moved but other than that it was not touched at all, as in there was no evidence of progress for what I had paid for. When I questioned Alex why isnt my car being worked on he said, «Well I have had this Rx7 and Nissan 240sx here for about 8+ months because the owners didn’t pay in full for the work needed to be done. Now they have finally paid for it so I will finish those before I get to yours.» Keep in mind that I had not received one phone call from Alex telling me of ANY delays in the completion of the car and it was then 18 days after he told me the estimated time of completion. Alex also told me, «That your car wont take very long to get done once I finished the other ones which will be in about three weeks.”(So the new estimated date is now October 25^th 2011)
And once again before I left Tekone Autoworks he told me «Dont worry I will call you when your car is finished.» However he is forcing me to call and to check up on my car because he goes over his due dates (that he sets) and I dont call on the day of when he would estimate the time, I call a week or even two after so I am not being pushy at all.
When the day came for me to pick up my car Alex informed me that they put a JDM engine with about 30,000 miles on it… and he told me that it would be about another $ 4,000 and more time for him to build the rebuilt engine with new internals which I had originally asked to be done. I was just so frustrated with how this build was handled and to compensate me Alex took $ 1,000 off the labor, installed a FMIC system for free (which was installed before I agreed) and an installed polished upper intake plenum.
In order to save an even longer review, it took Tekone Autoworks 10 months to finish the «completion» of my car which was initially estimated at 1 month, and then changed to 2 months.
With the knowledge I have today, another shop will get my business if I cannot solve it on my own.

First off let me just say that Alex and his team are very genuine and honest. They treat you like they are your best friends from the moment you call the shop! Caroline is also very nice and understands your situation and will cooperate with you to make contact with Alex. Now here is the story about my car and how Alex was the only person who could solve my problems. I purchased my 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo back in May 2013 with a seized engine. It’s was replaced at another shop. That other shop also replaced a lot of miscellaneous parts that didn’t need replacing or wasn’t the solution to other problems (money wasted). I then went to another ⁵⁄₅ star shop that kept my car for over 2 weeks and could never find any of the problems I was having. At this point I was starting to lose hope in my car. So one night I was reading about shops who specializes in Supras. I then found Driftmotion. The guy at Driftmotion was busy and referred me to his good friend Alex at Tekone Auto. That’s the day I began to gain hope again. I called Alex and spoke to me in a tone as if I was his best friend, I told him what was occurring and what I wanted to try as a solution. He then told me bring it down to the shop. When I got to the shop, I noticed a lot of high end cars including a popular Supra. I knew I was in the right place then and there. Alex then gave me a breakdown of what he was going to do in order to solve my problems and will update me. So I dropped my car off there and went on my merry way. Alex then calls me the next day saying he did a diagnosis on my car for 6 hours straight, 6 HOURS, who does that these days. The best part, he did 4 and half of those hours FREE! He found all of my issues and fixed them all and stuck to his original price. Not only that, but if he ran into a problem (such as 87 – 88 Turbo knock sensors are no longer made), he created a innovative solution and used the 2JZ knock sensors. I retrieved the car and drove it home no problems, but unfortunately the intercooler hose busted two weeks later. I then began to save up money so I can bring the car back to Alex because he is the only mechanic I can trust! So recently I brought my car back to Alex and his team took care of me greatly. They fixed all of my problems once again and for the first time ever, my car was no longer a GROSS POLLUTER and was able to PASS SMOG, with flying colors. All thanks to Alex and his team, I and now driving my car happily to school and back with 0, I repeat 0 issues whatsoever. Alex and his team were the only ones who fix my car, THE RIGHT WAY! This shop is a true Gem and I hope everyone check them out!

Theres no one I trust with 1998 Toyota Supra more than Alex, you get great prices for great service. Alex has a high attention to detail, and goes above and beyond to satisfy his customers, whether its washing your car after installing new brakes, or giving you great deals on parts he has in stock. Whether its a high performance car or your daily driver, Alex will give it the attention it needs and Im certain if you come in this will become your go to shop.

I was extremely pleased with the service I received at Tek One Autoworks. A friend recommended this shop, and I am glad they did! My Toyota was way overdue for maintenance, and Alex and his friendly technicians took very good care of my car. I don’t know much about cars, but Alex took the time to explain what needed to be done in detail. I was expecting to have to pay much more than I was charged for the excellent services rendered. I have felt like I was being taken advantage of at other car shops and big-​named chains… but this was not the case at Tek One Autoworks.
I will definitely take my car there again.
