This is a nice Super 8 property — clean, well-maintained, handily situated to get downtown quickly without encountering a bunch of traffic, directly across from a casino, and excellent well-lit parking. Our room and the common areas smelled clean and fresh and without any unpleasant odors noted in many other reviews. As other reviews have mentioned, the unpleasantness was dealing with the apparent owner, Sid. But the 25% off Summer Sale price point was very attractive. We arrived expecting to pay about $ 108 total cost for a king room for two nights and Sid was incredulous. No, you are mistaken he said that deal requires a 3-night stay. My rooms never go on sale. Corporate makes these mistakes all the time. You must have looked at some other Super 8. I doubted myself and we checked in. I went on-line, confirmed I was correct, and went back to the front desk to show Sid. He refused to honor the published price despite the claim on the 8-Point Promise placard on the front desk. Our room featured an aggressive air conditioner which was great given the hot and humid days. The shower worked well and there was plenty of hot water. Our pool-side room was very quiet and conducive to sleep — we drew the darkening curtains and slept like Rip Van Winkel! A couple bath towels, however, should have long been retired. When the WiFi worked, it worked well. But it dropped connection every 15 – 20 minutes which we’ve not experienced elsewhere. The water in the pool was crystal clear and the pool area neat and clean. The amount of floating debris was somewhat off-putting but Sid did the best he could with a skimming net to clean it out the first day but didn’t bother the second day. «Breakfast» was a couple kinds of cereal, milk, juice, bread, toaster waffles, and decent coffee. Mini muffins, it was pointed out, are served at this Super 8 but we should not expect them at other locations. We’ve had much better Super 8 breakfast experiences. Normally we just leave the card keys in the room and let the front desk know we’re leaving. Here, unless you bring the card keys back to the front desk you are subject to a $ 2 per card charge according to a sign on the ice machine. Sid provided a written copy of our bill. It was $ 142 and included a $ 2 charge for a safe we didn’t even know we had access to. I told Sid I’d write a favorable review and mention our disagreement over pricing. Malita was always smiling and cheerful and did a good job checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Sid works hard and perhaps he’s had too many 16-hour days to remember the basic tenets of the hospitality industry.

Do not stay here. We got a smoke free room that reeked of smoke, the shower head about to fall off and only gave us hot and scalding hot water. They gave us 2 towels for 4 people and then questioned why we wanted an extra 2. They overcharged us, it smells gross, the front desk guy was in pajamas, the wifi does not work… need I say more? If the other hotel was not booked we would have changed hotels.

Directly across from the Argosy Casino, wedged in between the casino employees’ parking lot and a duck pond, and next to the train tracks. Yep, this place is about as noisy as it gets! Honk, Quack, Slam, Beep!!! This was our first night of our cross-country trip to retrieve my monster-in-law and bring her from Kansas City to Palm Springs. This was the perfect place to set the tone for the trip. Noisy, old, kinda creepy… The bed was like sleeping on, uh, the floor really. HARD! Almost as hard as the pillows. Oddly, there was a lounge chair in the room and thinking back, it probably would’ve been a heck of a lot more comfortable than the bed! The locks on the window didn’t work so they threw a wooden bar in there. Handy. And as for the safe that was bigger then the TV and microwave combined, I used it to store my undies! LOL Not sure why anyone carrying that many valuables would ever be close to this Super 8 anyway. I agree with the other reviewer. Avoid at all costs!

Please do not go here if you have to sleep in your car or in a field. The place smells horrible and the rooms are dirty and stink. We got a place here to get away for the night and we checked in sat in the room for 20 minutes talking about how dirty it was and how the people above us were loud. We decided to check out and the manager told us too bad we already paid he could not give our money back. We walked out throu a group of people some of them were workers of the place that were drinking beer and drunk. I will never stay at a super 8 again.
