Dear families in need, please be very cautious using this doctor and or his staff. We are not the only ones that have been financially taken by this outlaw of a doctor. I asked that you please do your research/background check on Dr. Richard Young as I wish I would’ve done a better job of unfortunately he cost our family $ 5000 in fees before even met the man. Very sad that a professional family therapist can get away with something like this as family law is hard enough to get through without crooks taking your money. If I could give this man a zero I would. He boasts, is arrogant and in his documentation he mostly talks about how smart he is and what books he’s written. He gave me a packet soo long it took 15 days to finish and Richard and his secretary Jennifer said if I needed more time he was willing to give me more. The packet is consisting of questions he’s supposed to be answering and filling out since he is «the evaluator» quote on quote. The courts recommended this joke of a therapist to me because of parental alienation. Unfortunately this man destroyed what little chances the courts gave me to be with both of my children. I payed 2500 dollars to this man, only for this man to take sides with the alienating parent. The judge was more of a Doctor than this man will ever be. Do not hire this man. A real evaluator will charge you an eye and a leg but will do their job. A real evaluator will also be humble and professional and not self-centered like Richard Young is. Please be cautious about your money and don’t spend your money recklessly.

When I went to see Dr. Young for the first time, I was hanging by a very thin thread. I was desperate for help, yet terrified that what I was going through would somehow be exacerbated in the process of therapy. To make a *very* long story short, Dr. Young made me feel immediately at ease, and gave me hope that there might really be a way through all the pain I was experiencing. At our first meeting, he told me he wasn’t «the Shell answer man,» and that has proven to be true. He isn’t one to tell you who to be or what to believe, or how to proceed in life. Rather, he has an ingenious way of asking you questions that help you to discover those things for yourself. He sees to the heart of things, and is truly present, without judgment, during each session. He is humble and kind, yet confident. It’s clear he’s been at this for awhile, and he knows what he’s doing. During our many sessions together, he has helped to open my mind and my heart to see things differently, and I have become a different person. I am able to act more from a place of love, rather than debilitating fear. I am better able to accept and appreciate what *is,* rather than always wishing for greener pastures and feeling that I and my own life are somehow lacking. I am currently unable to walk, as I broke my ankle in several places and my surgeon has ordered that no weight be placed on the foot for four months. Add to that, my husband and I are going to be moving next week. We’re facing a very difficult challenge, but I’m surprising even myself by how well I’m doing(with the occasional breakdown, of course — no one’s perfect, after all :). Dr. Young has helped teach me how to let go and live in the moment, rather than stressing about my inability to control things that scare me or have the potential to induce great stress. It is no exaggeration to say that Dr. Young has been a godsend in my life, and I don’t like to think about who I’d be, or the quality of life I’d have, if it weren’t for his compassion, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor. Of course I will be learning and growing for the rest of my life — I have by no means«arrived,» but I’m enjoying the journey more and looking forward to living more and more fully as the years go by. I know it’s hard, especially if you’re in crisis, to find someone you can«click» with, and trust — someone with whom you can feel comfortable and safe. I have recommended Dr. Young to others, and I recommend him here, with no reservation whatsoever. No matter what you may be going through, he can help. He’s the real deal — a man of integrity who is skillful and who truly cares about his clients. Wishing you all the best…
