Love this store. Been going for years.
Started off as a tabletop player going in for books and dice. Later I expanded into warhammer 40k. The on hand selection sometimes leaves something to be desired but this is easily made up for by fast friendly special ordering. Whatever I’m looking for Catherine can get it in a week unless it hasn’t been released yet in which case it comes in on the release date. Pricing is retail but they have a great loyalty program that saves you a small fortune on anything in the store.
Recommended for book seekers, dice seekers and 40k players.

The people who work here are very rude and not helpful (the older gentleman with the beard and the shorter old lady) this has been my experience on MULTIPLE occasions. They also have a really bad selection. Finally, they are more expensive than other stores. I definitely would not recommend this place for magic players.

Had an awesome time gaming tonight at the warmachines tournament. Check this place out and get your nerd on. Just don’t eat at Lucky Wok across the parking lot, it’s nasty. Really bad…

GMI is the shop I go to when I need paint/​primer/​brushes for my figures because they have a great selection and their prices are fair for these items.
I’m a Warmachine player and their selection for actual models isn’t very good and their prices are retail which is expected. It’s not the place to go to if you need a new Warcaster or some Units.
Their 40k selection on the other hand is amazing. I used to play a little 40k and if I still did, GMI would probably be the reason why I’d have to change my name, get a fake passport, and move to a non extradition country to avoid my many creditors and loan sharks.
I was scared of the woman who owns the shop at first (I’m assuming she owns it.) She seemed really off putting but once I started talking to her she was really nice and knowledgeable. They were out of a certain paint color and I asked her about it and she was able to let me know that she ordered it and exactly when it would come in.
The man there was very nice too. I showed some interest in playing in their gaming area and he went back there and showed me some of the awesome terrain they have for their patrons to use.
It’s a cool place. I recommend it if you plan to play table top miniatures.

My least favorite magic TO in the LA area. Under the old system they overcharged every tournament by $ 10 and then offered the worst prize support of any PTQ in the area. Under the new system, they had absolutely no stock of standard staples the day of the tournament (what arguably should be their best method of profiting from the tournament) and gave store credit in prize… which again was absolutely worthless since their singles display case did not contain a single standard staple. When I asked for help in finding cards I could spend credit on the lady working the counter was rude and impatient with me. Even worse, the stock they did have was overpriced and did not include tax. If you can play a PPTQ somewhere else, do it.

Great customer service and decent prices. If you want the lowest price in the universe go online but if you want helpful advise from knowledgeable staff, HUGE selections of games, and a general area to hang out and throw dice or slap cards GMI Games is your last stop. This is where the gaming community goes for all their supplies.

My boyfriend, his friends and I are interested in starting up our first D&D game. We have lots of questions to say the least. When the Internet could only take us so far we stumbled into this establishment while the owner was behind the counter. After wandering around a bit we started asking questions and looking for guidance in starting up our table top game. The owner, presumably because he referred the store as ‘his’, was so condescending and lacked all customer service skills and common decency. He must have been the DM of all DMs to have ever lived to have the right to speak to his customers the way he did. We were about to purchase the started pack from $ 20 from him, support local businesses and all. But after he addressed us the way he did we went ahead and ordered it for half the price and free next day shipping from Amazon.

Went in to see all the 40k stuff as well as other tabletop games and to pick up a few things to get started on the hobby, the owner was very helpful and suggested glue, brushes and primers for my models and they turned out great. Had such a good experience I will definitely be coming back for future purchases.

I called GMI because I know they have a huge selection of games. That being said, everything else I experienced was horrible. For one, the lady I spoke with was very abrasive and unfriendly. I was looking for the game Robinson Crusoe which they had in stock. I almost fell out of my chair though when she listed me the price, a whole $ 20 more than any other place I looked up. Then when I asked if she would price match she boldly stated NO! Thanks but I’ll take my business elsewhere. Buyer beware. I would only consider them if they carried a game that was hard to find however RC is a game easily found on Amazon, and listed at a reasonable price.

The lady that works here is super sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Prices are MSRP, or just under. They do have a large table full of clearance games! What a bargain!
Do not pass this place up if you are into board games. You will most definitely not be disappointed!

This place is a definite go to for any table top player or just curious about table top games in general. They host Magic & Warhammer tournaments amongst other events with ample room for participants.
The staff here is very helpful which is an added bonus, especially when you’re a newb and looking to get your feet wet.
Even if you’re not into «serious gaming», they have board games, various types of card games, and other table top games that appeal to a broad spectrum of playing styles. Want to pretend you’re fighting zombies? They have a game for that. Want to play Yahtzee from a TARDIS? That game is here too.

You know what. The lady who is at the counter. She’s cool. She’s a sweetheart. I do thank her and the dude who looks like Matt groeing for keeping a store open in the former Albertsons shopping center open. Kudos. Kudos to all the people that make this place actually happen. Me and my brother appreciate it

Great store with a good selection of table top games and TCG, though everything seems a bit overpriced. Customer service is very hit or miss. Been left standing in front of the register for a few minutes while the owner sits at his computer playing games.
The regulars that show up for game night are awesome and the gaming area is great just wish the customer service was a bit better.

If you love anything geek this is a place to check out. Even if you just want to stop in to look. They have a great collection of board games and supplies for painting miniatures. When I asked the shop owner for advice (I just started painting miniatures) he was very helpful and nice. I have seen other reviews saying it is expensive but they sell their board games at list price which any «brick and mortar» has to if they want to make a profit. Additionally their paints (at least the Vallejo brand I use) are cheaper than online either on Amazon or the manufacturer site.

Every time I mention this place to a friend, it saddens me that they’ve never heard of it. I am so incredibly happy that they are open.
I have been in and out if GMI since they’ve opened. I have always found the staff incredibly helpful and informative.
My only complaint would be the customer service at the register. I have always felt awkward and just all around semi insulted once I get to the register. Luckily, I have a tough skin for people that lack in social skills– but for others it could be an incredible turn off. There aren’t many other places to go to, so when you get responded to as if you just asked the person to do the most troubling task, it Is super off putting.
This is definitely a spot for someone to check out if they are interested or familiar with table top gaming. Trust me, it is a definite must if you are into table top.
There are no other stores around like this. The only store I can even remember in the area was an old gaming shop in the Tyler mall, but it still didn’t compare to the way GMI runs and the welcoming staff.
I suggest checking it out, but do not expect walking into a plebeian gaming community (I’m kidding, sort of.) It really is a different type of gaming store.

I’ve been going to Gmi Games for more that 10 years. Owners are a married couple, Catherine and Rob, whom I find funny to listen to when they bicker at each other. All-​in-​all friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The gaming community is diverse, ranging from the «elitist» to the «casual» player. They have all kinds of games to participate in. A group of players play your game at least once a week, all you have to do is ask when.
Games I see on a regular basis: Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: the Gathering, Warhammer 40K, Warhammer Fantasy, Warmachine/​Hordes
Best game store around!

One of the best gaming spots in Riverside! Professional staff that treats customers, not brats, with respect. They treat you the way you treat them. Great place for newcomers to any TCG/​tabletop game. If the staff can’t help you learn a new game, one of the many players would be happy to help out. Lots of loyal players who love whatever game it is they’re playing.

They could use some serious customer service/​social skills. I’ve been there a couple times and always get attitude. Everything is so expensive. There are definitely some good things about it though.

A bastion of gaming in the Riverside area. Lots of gaming tables (geared more towards mini’s play) and a fine selection of everything you could ask for. Friendly staff, too!
They seem to be undergoing some improvements or construction, though. When they finish and everything’s clean and organized again I’d be happy to give them 5 stars.

A store for gamers, run by gamers.
Robert and Catherine (the owners) care a great deal about the community not just in Riverside, but the global hobby industry as a whole. They travel to conventions to learn how to serve local players better, or to share what they’ve learned through their years in business.
Probably the best place in Riverside for table top gaming, including Friday Night Magic.
