Comfort Inn University

I didn’t get a chance to stay here but I wanted to leave a review based on my experience over the telephone.
Today is Christmas morning, I initially called in because I seen a heartfelt story on ABC 7 news of a homeless man that help put away a cop murderer. Thanks to Riverside P. D and Comfort Inn Riverside they surprised this sweet man with a warm few nights stay here for the holidays.
I called in and spoke with Donna, requesting to pay for additional days for this man to stay here. I don’t know this man, or his full story and to be honest, it’s none of my business … but I do know, I did feel a tug on my heart to help out in a way I knew I could.
Donna was beyond sweet, chipper and professional over the phone, walking me though the whole process.
A special thank you to those over and Comfort Inn and Riverside Police Department for making this happen. Sadly enough, way too much garbage gets coverage these days and beautiful acts of kindness like this, go unnoticed.

A very nice place. Clean room and nice and helpful girls on frond desk. Definitely recommend it.

Awesome place to stay for the weekend. The rooms are fresh and clean when you show up, the hotel is also really close to a lot of restaurants.

This place has always been good. The rooms are clean (I mean clean, I check for bed bugs and hair on the sheets.) to date have NOT found any. Was a little disappointed with my stay this time as I was up on the second floor and there was a couple yelling down over the banister (this is not normal). Other than that everything was just as expected

Nice hotel. Good Ac, nice pool, nice little gym. Drama free & free wifi! Nice flat screen tv really clean cable is direct tv. I love with i will forsure come back oh and the king beds are so comfy especially if you want to bang bang on it

09-​01-​2015 i stayed here. I walked in at 12:30pm and got a real nice room. My lady Michelle and i. I’m coming back here again. Stay two nights get one free. YOU know i will be back again and again. This hotel gets all 5’s plus an added 5’s. Thanks comfort inn

It’s a comfortable bed. The room has a fridge, microwave, plenty of pillows, and cable TV. Breakfast is free in the office every morning; they have eggs, sausage, and unusually good coffee. There’s plenty of restaurants around. With that being said, this place is so sketch. I feel like it’s also probably the best you will find in riverside. The first two nights we stayed it was quiet, a little noise here and there but hey, it’s a motel. On our third night we were graced by a hooker and a John who didn’t even know her name on the side of us. We heard multiple drug deals happen, and I’m not talking about weed… Then they started to fight loudly in the room then took it right outside of our door. I didn’t know whether to call the cops or hit the floor. I’d ask for a room on the second level if you stay here.

Walked in the lobby and Matt at the front desk checked us in. very good attitude and very friendly. Made us feel right at home. Got to the room very clean very nice was not disappointed in the lest. Fridge was clean, microwave was clean as well. Bathroom was very clean as well. And just for checking in on Unilocal we got a late check out! I thought that was cool! Our room was on the 2^nd floor and the only problem was there were not another set of stairs near our room, but hey I could use the exercise!!! I would stay here again. And also there is a lot of places to eat and have a good time right up the street. So take it from me my fellow Unilocalers, if I give this place 5 stars it’s good. If I did not like it I would tell you so!!!

Well its my first time staying here but the online deal was so good I couldn’t pass it up, and I’m glad I didn’t! The staff is SUPER friendly, especially Matt at the front desk. The room was nice and clean and late check out and taxi services were both awesome! Would definitely recommend!

Staff was very friendly and professional. Rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and the gym was very convenient and nice for the price point. Not much more you could ask for as a business professional traveling in Riverside.
I’ll be staying here again.

Very Nice And Super Clean! They Have wonderful customer service and very attentive. Especially the front desk girl Breana very polite and also very helpful. Was only here for the weekend and was impressed. I defiantly recommend. And triple A discount.

room was fairly nice. bathroom was dirty. the shower has mold where the ceiling and shower meet. no wash clothes. floor was gross needed to be vacuumed between bed and night stand. we left or key in the room while loading the car and the housekeeper that knew it was our room wouldn’t let us in. we had to walk to the front of the complex. not a bad stay but things could be better.

I stayed here for a few nights last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms looked a lot better in person than the photos. They had newer blankets and a ton of pillows! The only «issue» I had was that they were a little slow with bringing me extra towels. It took them about 15 minutes, but it was most likely because it was a busy night. They brought me a bottled water as an apology. Nice touch! The staff was super nice and so was the breakfast. Definitely got my money’s worth! Will be back if I’m in the area.
Btw, there’s a ton of restaurants nearby. They all have pretty good reviews too!

Which is more offensive-​5 blaring hours of the oldest, loudest model leaf-​blower extant, or the sight of plant debris?
If random bits of palm frond upset you and a machine that mimics a relentlessly revving motorcycle sounds good, this Comfort Inn is for you.
Here are the positives:
It’s literally a one minute drive to a cute outdoor food mall called University Village, (on the corner of University Avenue & Iowa Avenue).
UV has lots of good Asian restaurants, Starbucks and Haagen-​Daz.
At the corner of Iowa and Blaine (5 min. away) there’s a Starbucks open till midnight with 24 hour drive-​thru.
Tony’s Mexican Food (a tiny place) is next door to the Comfort Inn. Not the Marriott side, the other side. It’s not visible from the street, or anywhere. It’s an invisible strip mall with Food 4 Less as the main store. Tony’s is next door to Water and Ice-​Cream (doesn’t that sound delicious?) Very good and cheap.
The Comfort Inn is a 2 minute drive to UC Riverside.
No bed bugs! (The most important feature. Unilocal reviews of bug bites in the hotel next door turned me off that one).
Clean room, comfortable bed, very polite, helpful woman at the front desk.
Pretty damn cheap.
Negatives:
Unusually limited and poorly placed electrical outlets.

When we first got in the room, my kid was lounging with his computer, ignoring all my observations regarding our quarters until I got to, «I can’t find an outlet».
He flew off the bed like it was on fire.
Two tiny waste bins with even tinier liner bags that don’t fit-​it takes 3 minutes to overflow both garbages and dislodge the liners.
There was some weird extension cord thing going on behind my bed.
The extension cord, along with everything else in the room, looked 50 years old.
I hope it’s up to code.
Whatever cleaning solution they use reeks. I smelled it in the front office and also in my room.
On my second visit there was a new stink to the room and front office-​it seems they decided to use a can of Masking Stench to obliterate the odor of their bordello-​grade cleaning solution.
I had to prop my door open to get the stank out.
Miscellaneous:
The lobby coffee is much better than you’d think and that freakin’ MATTERS when you’re stuck in Hotel Stank in freakin’ Riverfreakinside.
It is only a mildly sketchy area-there’s invariably one barefoot, scruffy guy ambling down University Avenue who could either be a rapist or Jesus. I choose to believe the latter. Just don’t close your eyes when you sleep.

Friendly front desk staff, clean non-​smelly room, and full complimentary breakfast. One of the most pleasant hotel stays for the money.

Decent & Comfortable Motel
SITREP
My second week during my work-​trip to Riverside, I opted to stay at a 2^nd
Motel. The prior week I was in the Quality Inn motel about 10 miles away further down Magnolia. This week I was in the Comfort Inn motel only a few miles away from my downtown Riverside work site.
GROUND RULES FOR DEFINITIONS
And about that — whether to use the term «Hotel» or «Motel» — I’ve heard many people use different definitions to describe a «category of overnight stay establishments» that distinguishes between «Hotel» and «Motel. However, one fellow seasoned travelor just told me simply the following which is clearly defined and makes sense to me:
1. HOTEL — If you walk through a lobby, and/​or you enter your room through an INTERIOR hallway. That’s a hotel.
2. MOTEL — If you have direct access to your room door from driving right up to the door and/​or your room is directly accessible from an EXTERIOR walkway (whether ground or multi-​level-​but-​still-​exterior. That’s a motel.
Now, granted, there are categories of overnight-​stay establishments a bit more difficult to define. Some resorts are exterior and are certainly not motels. In fact, some may have both an interior AND exterior entry on both sides of the room/​suite. But in general, I like the definition of my friend that I’ve settled upon.
THE SETUP
Now even though I give both of these motels I stayed in a 3-​Star Rating, the Quality Inn I stayed in the previous week was for me a 2.7 Star-​Rating. This one is 3.4 Star-​Rating. I was willing to round up to 3-​Stars on the Quality Inn. I’m not willing to round up to 4-​Stars for the Comfort Inn.
But the reason why I rank this Comfort Inn HIGHER than the Quality Inn is because of a few things:
* This continental breakfast actually included hot foods like eggs and sausage whereas the Quality Inn did not.
* The room configuration was set-​up a bit nicer AND there was more room-​width space, which is something you notice right away when you are bumping into the foot of the bed while trying to work at the desk at night; and,
* The neighborhood is SO MUCH NICER with a lot more of a sense of security (I wasn’t panhandled right outside the front office here like I was at the Quality Inn) and better local restaurant food selections within walking distance.
THE LOWDOWN
A better bang for your buck when it comes to moteling.

I actually won a free night’s stay at the Inn when I went to Nocturnal Wonderland this past year by entering a twitter contest. Yes! Who knew those contests were actually legit haha. Anyway, I didn’t check-​in until after the event was over, so I didn’t get to the motel til at least 2 or 2:30am, but the person at the front desk was definitely accommodating and made the check-​in as smooth as possible. Downside was that there weren’t any extra towels that night, but that’s the only thing I can complain about. I was also accommodated with a late check-​out, which was soooooooo convenient for me since I got to the hotel so late. I wanted to knock out and not have to worry about leaving just a few hours later, so I actually got to sleep a bit. As for the room, the room comes with a king size bed and a couch that folds out into a bed. The place also has complimentary breakfast, but I was too exhausted to wake up and get any. For the most part, the place was pretty legit.
In fact, I actually stayed at this motel the year before after going to Nocturnal Wonderland in 2011. I pretty much got the same room set-​up — king size bed with couch bed along with the complimentary breakfast, wi-​fi, parking and such. Overall, this place isn’t bad and it’s at least accommodating to your needs.

Definitely a mediocre stay. The best amenity was that I could stay here with my two dogs. The upstairs ice maker is out of order, seemingly indefinitely, so you must go out of your way downstairs if you want ice. There is very little vending available. The TV was up to date flat screen, but none of the stations would actually tune in. The room was sweltering when we came in to go to bed, it took about an hour and a half to cool down to comfortable so we could sleep. The continental breakfast was okay, but the lobby was so warm that the juices and milk were room temperature. I can understand trying to conserve energy, but it’s at the expense and comfort of their guests. I could have stayed a lot of other places for the $ 133 last night cost me. The good: the staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Definitely no frills at this hotel.

I’ll keep this short.
*Not too expensive or feels like the room is great for the value.
*The wifi is more decent than other places.
*Hooray fridge.
*Hooray full size closet that closes.
*Decent distance from things in Riverside and local foods.
Negative points:
* Dirty carpet. I should have worn flip flops inside.
* Wall sockets are not easily available.
I didn’t even get to try the continental breakfast. Darn. But yeah, I wouldn’t mind staying there again, but, I really wish the carpet was more clean.

It’s no 4-​seasons or Fairmont, but BOY do you get a good bang for your buck here! It’s clean, the beds are comfy and can compare to a Marriott room all for $ 79+tax if you are a AAA member, you get a discount too.
They have a mini fridge, and best part is a NICE breakfast in the morning served buffet style with scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, toast/​bages/​cereal, and WAFFLES!!! Yes, WAFFLES!
This is a really good deal, and the staff is very nice. They almost always seem to have a room even if you have to book last minute because you exhausted after a long day of work and travel (like to say Loma Linda’s Hospital or Wongee Center).
