History
Established in 2008.
The Art Works Gallery opened during the 2008 Riverside Festival of Lights. Since then, we have shown the work of over one hundred local artists and organized 18 original exhibitions. Many of our consigned artists carry a mental health diagnosis. We believe that creative arts has positive effects on wellness and recovery.
Seventy-percent of all purchase proceeds goes directly to the local artist, and thirty-percent goes to our nonprofit organization, Jefferson Transitional Programs.

Jefferson Transitional Programs (JTP) is a 501©3 nonprofit that offers vocational, supported living, and educational programs for individuals living in Riverside County, age 16 and up, who carry a mental health diagnosis. Our organization was founded in 1990 and incorporated in 1991, as the result of one mother’s efforts. Dorothy Jefferson saw the need for community-based support services, such as housing and day programs, to help individuals stay stable and out of more costly and acute interventions such as psychiatric hospitals. Since 1990, JTP has grown from having a budget of $ 70,000 with a staff of 3 to having a budget of over $ 2.5 million and a staff of 52.
