They are at the Bloomington Farmers market and this review is for that. Their display ws fabulous with all their different breads and the smells were intoxicating. The 2 fellas working were animated and friendly and suggested a bun I was eyeing. They call a pretzel bread bun. Generous size buns topped with toasted seeds that looked quite enticing. He gave us some excellent ideas to serve them and long story short… They were so awesome we ate them as a breakfast sandwich and then for dinner burgers… By far thee BEST bun I ever ate. Turned me into a gourmet cook! I had to put the rest in the freezer to keep from eating the whole bag!

I am a big fan of Grateful Bread, I use to work across the street so I had the chance to eat here a couple of times per week. My favorite thing to order is their wonderful turkey sandwich. They roast the turkey themselves and pile it on to their old fashion breads.

I hate to give GB two stars. I usually adore this place. But last Friday I bought a loaf of sourdough and two days later it had mold growing on it. Even for a place that doesn’t use preservatives, that’s pretty fast for culture growth. The chocolate mini cake I bought was just so-so; dry cake inside and okay frosting. Since it was for a birthday, I was disappointed that it wasn’t better. Oh well. I still love them and will keep shopping there.

Thank goodness for places like this. Amazing breads and desserts and the deli sandwiches are the best I’ve ever had. Always a treat to go here for lunch. They don’t accept credit cards, so bring cash or your check book!

Oh, and the desserts and pastries are to die for. The mini cannoli is almost guilt-free. All the mini pastries: chocolate cake, carrot cake, raspberry white chocolate tortes, so much more to try. Go for the sandwiches per advice of first-to-review Unilocaler, but leave with a stash of bread and pastries too. Not much seating area however, but you can get your score and cross the street to Veteran’s Park(look for the colorful abstract sculpture) or continue to cross the back alley and go over the bridge to the White Parkway by the Kinnickinnic River, which runs through the back(east side) of downtown. I think it takes cash and checks only or maybe it’s cash and credit cards. Cash for sure.
