Burkett’s Pool Plastering

I can’t say enough about how great this company has been to work with. Janaine, our account manager over there, was amazing in keeping schedules, communicating with me, and just «getting things done» in general. She made the agonizing situation of having to rebuild a crack-​filled, year-​old pool actually pleasurable! Before hiring Burkett’s we had three other pool repair companies come out to give us bids. It seemed like they all knew each other and made sure their (astronomical) bids to repair it were almost identical. In retrospect, they did all ask if any other companies were giving estimates and being the honest person that I am, I told them who else was a possible hire. Then, like a miracle, we found Burkett’s. No hard sells, no UPSELLS (other companies tried to pressure me to buy a new heater, coping, pool deck, etc.), and beyond professional. They did the job — at half the price the others were asking. And they did an AMAZING job. Beautiful. They went above and beyond. After they completed the last phase (after repairing 50 feet of cracks at the unite level, putting in new tiles, etc.), the pool was filled. But it was still losing water. Turns out, a leak-​detection company I hired (In-​Depth Leak Detection — I’m naming them to warn you) right before Burkett’s started was completely wrong in their $ 500 report to me — we had a huge crack in one of our pipes leading to the pool equipment, underground. Burkett’s came out immediately, had their guys dive the pool and THEY found the cracked pipe. They also fixed it (in the pouring rain) within days at a very reasonable price. Burkett’s saved our pool and my sanity. Don’t get ripped off by other pool companies with slick salesman. Burkett’s does a fantastic job and is 110% reliable, professional and affordable.

Our pool (built in 1969) had many leaks, and a terribly uneven pool deck. We hired a local company to trouble shoot the leaks, but it was impossible to locate and repair all the spots with issues. We decided to completely rebuild the pool — Plumbing, new pool deck, new plaster, new tile, add a cabo shelf, and new pool pump. We received a few bids, and decided to use Burkett’s, mostly because they do all of the work, start to finish, which means we wouldn’t have to rely on multiple contractors to sync their schedules. I used to work in the construction field, so I knew one contractor from start to finish would be advantageous for the construction schedule.
We also had Burkett’s handle the permitting process with Nevada County. At first, the county was not able to find the original construction permit for the pool. Bruce at Burkett’s was very professional, and persistent with the county, continually pushing them to offer advice on the next course of action. Eventually, the county «found» the original permit. Had we not had Bruce at Burkett’s, who was very motivated to complete our job, I suppose we would still be battling with the county over permits.
The delay with the permitting was no fault of Burkett’s, and we are lucky that we had a motivated contractor like Burkett’s to push the county for permit completion. The actual construction was well within the quoted time frame.
Quality of work was A+. I was impressed every step of the way.
We had zero issue with the county inspector finding flaws in the work. Everything was done to code, and inspection was a breeze.
Despite the large scale of the job, the workers were nearly invisible.
Ok, so everyone must have one issue, right? This was not an issue for me, but I can see it being an issue for some. This is more so just some feedback for Burkett’s. The workers would park in our driveway, and block our cars in the car port. However, they were always super quick to come and move. Not a big issue at all, but I want to make sure I am at least a little bit critical.
Our experience with Burkett’s was really great.

We decided to go with Burket’s for a replaster job on our pool in August 2015.
1. September we advised Burket’s of several cracks around the pool. We were advised to monitor ph and chlorine levels and brush continuously and see what happens.
2. October thru November we’ve had 3 representatives out to survey problem, more recommendations to see what developes.
4. December, and a new, 3 foot long crack has developed. Again we spoke to another representative and we’re told they will get back to us. We let representative know we are very disappointed with Burket’s lack of attention to the problem.

I would not recommend Burketts. My mother had a large leak in her pool, and at about 26 years old it was quite the eyesore, so we decided it was time to redo the entire thing. Leo promised her on many occasions that he would be able to have the pool finished by August 1 (this was a date we had set to hold my father’s memorial in our backyard). Leo gave us materials to pick out the plaster, brick, tiles, etc. for the pool and upon making our selection, we had to wait weeks to hear back from him (and left several voicemails for him during that time). Once he finally came over to finalize our selections and have us sign the contract, he was still promising that we would be able to finish the project in time for the memorial, although that did not turn out to be the case.
Due to the drought (and fines on water usage) my family was paying expensive water bills to keep the pool filled to avoid structural damages. Leo had initially offered to have the leak patched free of charge if we needed to start construction after August 1 to make up for the later start and to avoid wasting water, but never made good on that. We asked several times throughout the construction process to get a quote on solar panels, which we were never given. Every time we tried to contact Leo it took several days or weeks to get back to us. We had our pool service guys look over the contract and they pointed out that Burketts was seriously overcharging us for a few of the parts we were purchasing. We had a terribly negative experience with them, admittedly made worse by the fact that the timeline surrounded such a sensitive time for my family and the fact that despite this Burketts continually promised that our August 1 date would be met. We were very misled. Now that all is said and done, the pool does look nice, and the people Burketts contracts with did a good job, but in the future we will hope to do business with more honest people.

I needed some remodeling done on my pool and wow, all I can say is what great customer service I received. All my questions were answered promptly and communicated clearly. I couldn’t be more impressed with customer service! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone!

Burkett did a replaster on my pool this week. It was on time, on budget and easier than I thought it would be. I could not be happier. They delivered on everything they promised. The reason they were exceptional –1. Fast– They did the whole thing in 2 days, because they had a big team work on it. 2. Showed up on time. They even came a week earlier than originally promised, because I needed to get it done… This was a huge issue for me in scheduling around family etc. 3. They did not try to upsell or come up with any new issues once we were half-​way through the project. I was told by other pool companies that the often happens. It was a scare tactic from the other companies, but Burkett made it simple as can be. 4. The schedulers Tim and Chris were super patient and detailed in explaining all of the steps and how long each part would take and after-​care 5. My estimator/​salesperson, Mark T. was super helpful with what to expect. He helped me pick out tiles. And he had a great suggestion about getting a temp fence around the pool while we were doing the draining. I had originally considered a smaller company, but I liked the expertise, professionalism and manpower behind Burkett’s. I would recommend them again.

My husband and I just bought our first home and used Burketts for the remodel. They were AMAZING! Punctual, friendly and most of all trustworthy. Everyone I came encounter with including the office staff treated me like I was family. My pool looks brand new and I know my family and I will enjoy it for years to come. After posting the last review, both Rick and the service technician called that afternoon and scheduled to meet with us the following business day. The service tech discovered the installation was performed incorrectly, causing the salt system to not produce chlorine. 30 minutes later, we were good as new.
Rick tutored us on the new systems. Our pool has never looked better. We’re pleased with the outcome, and recommend Burkett’s Pools to others.

Wow, I read several other Unilocal reviews and don’t know what «Burkett’s» they’re reviewing, ’cause I had a great experience with them. There crews were there on time and ready to work. No wasted time. They cleaned up after themselves every day and except for the work done you couldn’t tell they had been there. Yes they were early, but that’s what I expect from companies involved in the construction bossiness. I sure wouldn’t want them showing up at noon!
The salesman was nothing to brag about. He failed to address a couple of small issues that cost more (such as the ladder steps, which were an additional cost).
With that said, every step was as promised. Very professional. I saw the project manager on the day of demo, plumbing and plastering. Didn’t really need to see him when they drained, refilled the pool and adding chemicals. I also called the company a couple of times and they got right back with me and answered all my questions.
I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends.

I hired Burkett’s when my mother had to sell her home in Modesto and we had to replaster the pool as advised by our realtor. My mother’s area of expertise is in making dinner and giving hugs, not remodeling pools or writing Unilocal reviews. So, I stepped in to help and didn’t have a clue where to begin.
Luckily I called Burkett’s and everyone from the receptionist to the workers were professional and courteous. The workers were punctual and the customer service was excellent! I wish I had more friends with more pools to recommend them to!
