History

Established in 2001.

Matt started building his creative foundation while following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was a talented sketch artist. Who knew that this inspiration would lead him to eventually become a Graphic Designer?

For several years, as the Graphic Design jobs kept coming in, so came the need for photography services. Matt didn’t let the opportunity of purchasing a cool gadget… a camera, pass by. In comes the name «Mattedesign».

MATTE: Referring to things without a shine OR a sheet of cardboard placed on the back of a picture, either as a mount or to form a border around the picture OR the name Matt.

Soon enough, his passion for photography far exceeded all other creative outlets. …and thanks to that passion, today, Matt has a great network of clients, friends and memories.

Born and raised in (rough) Brooklyn, Matt’s passion for life kept him moving forward… and mostly out of trouble.

In his early years, Matt picked up his first film camera. A 110 camera… and it was AWESOME! To be able to capture a single moment in an instant… and be able to physically look back at a memory at any time… no words could explain.

Later on, he discovered the Pentax K1000, after which he only wanted more.

Via hard knocks, Matt taught himself graphic design and photography and eventually attended FIT and ICP to expand his knowledge.

Today, as a Canon DSLR shooter, Matt has over 14 years of professional photography experience…
