This place is fantastic! They really took the time to make me understand the issues with my car. Their prices are competitive and they do great work fast! I’ve been taking my car here for years because they are simply the best!

I stopped in for a balance last minute while visiting the Richmond area and was pleasantly surprised by the great customer service and work. Great person at the counter that really went above and beyond to make sure everything was running smoothly and kept me posted on which step they were on. Decided to have tires rotated as well. I was in and out in no time. Tuffys also provided me with a 24 hour roadside assistance program for free just for having my BMW serviced. Wish they had a store where I live so I could use them more. I would come back again and will recommend Tuffys to the peeps I know here in Richmond. Thanks guys!

I can’t really comment on their service since it doesn’t seem like they wanted my business. Walked in on Saturday two weeks ago to check the price on a tire pressure sensor. The lady behind the counter didn’t really seem interested in helping, They were busy but that shouldn’t matter. After asking her to check and see if they had the part she reluctantly took my information, said she would call me with the price and you guessed it… I never heard back from them. Weird that I was willing to give them about 100 bucks to do a job that probably would take 10 minutes. That’s OK though I found a competitor who would.

I’ve waited a couple of days before posting a review just to make sure I can properly comment on their service. I don’t know if the place has changed management since the last reviews but I’d say my experience here was decent. I came in for a simple oil change and inspection.
They did everything I asked for within an acceptable timeframe. The only negatives I have were this: during the inspection it was noted I had a reverse light out. They wanted $ 17 to replace it. I’ve replaced these before and I actually had a bulb in my trunk. When I told them this they said it would be $ 15 instead. Only $ 2 off for having the part? It takes 2 minutes at most to replace. There is no way the labor for those two minutes is worth $ 15. The reins pectin costs only $ 1 so I told them to flunk it and I’d replace it myself.
The manager proceeded to tell me if I did that I’d have to wait behind all the other people that were there. I think it was more of a scare tactic to try and get me to give in because when I said that was fine they went ahead and replaced it for me for free. I’d just dropped over $ 75 there on the service so I think it was smart to not argue with me over a few more dollars.
Car has been running fine for a week now so I would say there were no problems with the oil change. No one tried to sabotage my car or make false claims that I needed some new part that I didn’t. The best thing anyone can do when taking their car in is come armed with some basic knowledge about their vehicle. This will help you avoid getting taken for a ride.

Went here for a simple inspection and expected something wrong, I mean who doesn’t when they’re taking the car in for a check up? I failed the inspection obviously, but what they needed to replace was going to cost me 700 $, just to pass inspection.
I needed an engine mount which they were going to charge me 328 $ for alone. I also needed a «boot» but that one wasn’t as expensive. Mind you I don’t know much about vehicles so I took them for their word.
Took it to another mechanic, gave them the slip with all the issues Tuffys said I had wrong, passed inspection. It was nothing but a scam.
Even went to Advance Auto Parts to check on the price of the mount, nothing cost more than 70 $. Do not go here, they just want your money. I now have my inspection passed and Christmas isn’t ruined.

I took my car to this place for a simple oil change. The mechanic came back showing the air filter, and suggesting to change it, so i did.
The next day, the check-​engine light turned on. I took the car back to them and they estimated the work in $ 2,000!!! Since my car had never given me any problem, I told them I’d get a 2^nd opinion.
To make the long story short, they were the ones who damaged several sensors! The air filter that they installed was installed incorrectly, several pins and screws were missing, the O2 sensor was messed around with. My car had never given me any problems until I used this service.
I called back to the place and left a voice message in their machine saying what they had done. That was 2 weeks ago, and they never had the decency to return my call.
