The Lofts at Trolley Station

I stayed at the Lofts at Trolley Station the first year they opened (2007). The layout of the lofts was nice. Most of the lofts had a skylight. The rent was reasonable. The location was solid. It’s not far from VCU or Shokoe Bottom but you’re able to avoid the congestion. Trolley Station do not many food and grocery options around. Currently there are more restaurants in the area. The internet and cable was included in the rent. The cable channels were limited. I had to pay extra for a reserved parking spot. If you didn’t want to pay for a reserved spot, street parking was available. Trolley Lofts doesn’t have many amenities. Trolley Station did have a nice deck on the roof. The view of the Richmond Skyline was cool. The management office is located across from the lofts. You could walk across the street to pay rent etc. My two years staying at Trolley Station was «A-​OK». I give the Lofts at Trolley Station a 3.5 rating. *Keep in mind this review is for 2007−2009*

I don’t understand negative reviews of apartment units. What part of «multi-​unit dwelling» do tenants not understand prior to renting. You are sharing a wall with a neighbor, just as you likely would in a condo or townhome. Sometimes you luck out and get someone who doesn’t make a sound, or, you end up next to people who actually like to live, laugh and enjoy their lives outside of work. Want absolute, 100% peace and quiet with crickets chirping? Go buy a house in the suburbs, It really is that simple. The choice is yours.
The other thing is this… old, historic renovation projects aren’t perfect. If exposed brick, pipes, and concrete bother you, go to Chesterfield or Henrico and live in your overpriced, cookie cutter box. I think these things make a place unique and give it charm and character.
Back on topic, The Lofts at Trolley Station aren’t perfect BUT, I can tell you this. Having lived in Richmond (and it’s surrounding counties) for the better part of two decades… having lived in a variety of apartments, free standing houses, complexes, communities… you name it… my experience here has been wonderful. I no longer have to deal with Shockoe Bottom violence and traffic, parking is plentiful and… best of all… FREE. There’s not one but TWO full service restaurants (Legend’s Brewery and Camden’s) within 100 feet of my door (not counting Plant Zero Café and Papas which are just a few blocks away) ridiculously easy access to the interstate and downtown expressway… and the peace of mind knowing that I can walk out my front door, cross the street and physically hand deliver my rent check to my property management company without worrying about stamps, online fees or the inept USPS losing my envelope.
Dollar for dollar, I challenge anyone to get a 900+ square foot MODERN, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment that INCLUDES DirecTV, reliable high speed internet, water, sewage, trash, AND parking included for under $ 1000 less than 5 minutes from city center. Been there, done that… not possible (income restricted properties don’t count) Trolley Lofts gives you all that while respecting your right to privacy and without being the slightest bit intrusive like other management companies tend to be.
