I usually have fairly good service with this place and have always had friendly service up until today. I took my car in for inspection and was met with the typical friendly service; however after looking at my car I was met with a unfriendly mechanic who told me my driver’s side window didn’t go down and I needed a new motor to fix the problem, would be $ 360. The window went down this morning, granted a little slow but did go down and back up. I took a few minutes to call my husband about the window and what he would like to do; and in speaking with him he was under the impression as long as the window worked it should pass. I went back inside to ask the front desk person, John, about having the mechanic check again and to ask if I would really receive a rejection sticker if the window worked but was initially slow on it’s way down.
I never got to finish my question when a woman, who apparently is the owner, completely interrupted me and shut me down. She went on a rant about how yes it does fail inspection if it doesn’t go down and I have 15 days to get it repaired. She went on further about how I will get a ticket and I can only drive it directly to get it fixed somewhere. I attempted to reply I know all of this, I was simply trying to ask a question to verify necessary repair. Again, I wasn’t allowed to finish my thought; and she went into a story about a customer failing inspection, driving off, something broke and she wrecked at the light right outside causing her child to become brain dead. The look on my face must have said a lot because she immediately replied with she knew my window didn’t compare to the other person’s broken steering column. SERIOUSLY? This was over the top and I decided to just pay for rejection sticker and leave.
As I left, I rolled my window up and down over 50 times on my way to another mechanic. Granted it was slow rolling down for the 1^st inch but once past that point it went down the rest of the way fine and back up just fine. I stopped at another mechanic, showed them what the window was doing asked if that really fails inspection and they said no. I went an extra step further and asked another mechanic at a dealership and he said no.
I’m not sure what this owner’s problem is and why she felt the need to defend her mechanic and not listen to me; but it was completely uncalled for, and extremely unprofessional. The place that completed my inspection did tell me I could take my care back over there and show them and they would have to pass my car; but my interaction with the owner was so horrible she can keep my money and I will happily pay my new mechanic for the inspection.
