Joe Schroeder is one of the good guys. He’s trustworthy and deals with people fairly.
What’s happened week is my second experience with him. Previously, a few years ago, I had a pipe leaking and he was at my house within minutes. Late Tuesday afternoon, my hot water heater stopped working. Considering that the overnight temperatures were below freezing, the water coming into the house was cold.
Unfortunately, Joe was delayed as he was working with a local Taco Bell having an emergency, and didn’t arrive as he thought he would be able to do late Wednesday afternoon. Also unfortunately, the Thanksgiving Day holiday provided some extra delay.
Friday morning, he called and said that he was on his way. Within 30 minutes, he was at my door. We went to the water heater and saw the leakage, and thankfully, he had access to the same brand, as it had served me well up until this week. The date on the water heater was October 4^th, 2002, which is a good amount of time for such a device.
He also recognized an exhaust leak from the pipes connected to the water heater, thankfully. Carbon Monoxide was trickling into the living space, apparently.
He bought a new water heater at the wholesaler, along with some pipes for the repair of the exhaust.
While you hope for the best, these things never seem to go smoothly, but he replaced everything while making adjustments to the various copper pipes and venting. It was mid-​afternoon when he was finished, and he hauled away the old water heater.
I suppose I could have paid someone else to replace the water heater immediately, paying two or three times the price, and probably getting a substandard, old model, but I’d rather do business with someone I trust.
