Quality food at affordable price! Have been visiting since a year; never been disappointed. Their deserts/bakery items are amazing as well! Good to know info — This is a restaurant and a(middle eastern) grocery store as well.

My favorite item to get here is their Mujadara, which is a dish of lentils, carmelized onions, and rice. I love the flavors of the spices used in this dish. We have had some of their food at a catered party and it was delicious as well. I do not like lamb, but there was a lamb dish served and I even liked that.

This is possibly my favorite restaurant in the Richmond area. All of their food is amazing. In particular, their beef fatayer pies and pistachio baklava are my favorite things to order. Seriously, everyone needs to try this place.

If you want Lebanese food in Richmond then this is the place to visit. Don’t even bother going any place else because this family owned bakery does everything right! From grape leaves to hot dishes everything is prepared to perfection. Their selection of pita breads and other baked goods is fantastic! We love their homemade pita chips that pair with their equally delicious hummus and baba ganoush!

Just stopped by again for the 4th or 5th time since moving to Richmond. I have been ordering the Fatayer(Spinach and Feta) everytime I’m there. Its so good. Today I finally decided to try some other things. The Kufta Kebab is soooo good. I also got a cabbage roll and more fatayer. I’m looking forward to eating the cabbage roll for dinner. I also want to add that the family and employees that run this place are some of the friendliest people I have ever encountered! If you need a quick snack or are looking to try something new you should really stop by! On another note. I also saw they have halal baby goat and veal! I’m a psuedo vegetarian that occasionally eats meat so I’m looking forward to getting some meat and cooking it up! It looks so good!

We wanted to do a vegetarian Mediterranean smörgåsbord during True Detective on Sunday night and my friend recommended this place. It’s closed Sundays, so I came on Saturday around 7:20pm and it was slim pickings except for the pastries– there were tons of those left! I still managed to put together a kickin’ dinner menu: — musakaa — spinach fatayeh — stuffed grape leaves — herbed pita chips — baba ghanouj — pistachio baklava, bird’s nests, and roses All of it was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Driving along the road beside regency mall for a bit I seen this place, since it’s been a while since I had Mediterranean foods I thought I’d give it a try along with my 2 friends. Walking in I felt like I was back over seas. They sell a little of specialized items that is not normally found in your neighborhood grocery. While here we decided to try some food on the menu that had a wide range of selections. I went for the gyro, with a side of hummus. Normally I do not enjoy them, but theirs had such flavor and melted in my mouth I think I’ll go back for more items. The humus was also good but you could take that it was fresh and had not had time to allow seasoning to marinade into it, However I did enjoy it along with my rose flavored beverage. I will be going back to see what other options I will enjoy.

I love Mediterranean Bakery from the take away food to the grocery items. I buy all my meat and dairy items from there. Additionally I almost can never resist ordering something every time I visit. Their daily specials never disappoint. I also love their meat pies, spinach pies and lamb shawarmas. In fact I love everything! Their dessert selection behind the cashier is also amazing. Their Bakalva is the best I have ever tried. I don’t know if the walnut or pistachio is my favorite. It’s really hard not to have more than one so I always have one of each.

I have to echo the other reviews — the best Middle Eastern take-out in Richmond, and possibly in the state. This is my go-to place for hummus, baba, grape leaves, mujadrah, moussaka, fatayer, and everything of that sort. In addition to all of that in-house food, they have a grocery area with imports that are hard to find elsewhere in Richmond. The falafel sandwich is not the best — on the dry side — but hey nobody is perfect.

Simply the best Mediterranean food in Va. Fresh ingredients prepared perfectly. They could easily charge twice the price for this level of quality. But honest food at a great value seems to be their model. Bravo!

Fantastic middle eastern food at a reasonable price. The stuffed cabbage rolls were especially tasty. We ate in, but the deli offerings would make great take-out.

I was searching for a place to get good falafel & decided to stop in on my way to work today. I ordered a falafel sandwich, small order of majadara, small red pepper hummus with homemade pita chips, and 2 pieces of baklava(1 pistachio and 1 walnut). My total was about $ 18. The falafel sandwich was $ 5& wrapped in something like a tortilla. The flavors were really good I just like my falafel to have a bit of a crunch when I bite into it. This was my first time trying majadara, very good. Good enough that I want to attempt to make it at home. My favorite thing that I ordered has to be the red pepper hummus(recommended by the young man who took my order) and the seasoned pita chips. although I wasn’t expecting to spend $ 18, it was well worth it. I will be back soon

Came in today with my family and ordered a lot of food the quality of the food wasn’t bad and the food tasted alright, there was a misunderstanding with the order we got and when I went up to tell him about it(the cashier) he answered me with a rude attitude and didn’t even fix the misunderstanding that happened, I wouldn’t come back here

Once upon a time, a dear colleague of mine brought me some baklava as a midday work snack. I have had many a baklava in the past but they’re usually too sweet/not enough nuts/soggy = in other words, sub-par. But THIS one… I fell in love immediately. Perfect amount sweetness and very flaky — I could taste every layer! I demanded to know where she found this extraordinary baklava and now… here I am! Mediterranean Bakery & Deli is a family-run establishment that not only sells authentic Middle Eastern food items, but it also serves as a small grocery store that sells wonderful grains, spices, nuts, dried fruits, condiments, etc. I ended up buying some Halloumi cheese which I ended up sautéing at home to top a salad. It’s a very salty and«squeaky» cheese — really yummy! You can dine-in or do take-out and there are enough options for carnivores and vegetarians. I had meat on the brain and my eyes went straight for the shawarma. Wow, that lamb shawarma = so delicious! Fabulous ratio of meat to veggies to sauces and everything is neatly wrapped in a pita. The 6-inch is perfect if you have a smaller appetite but go for the 12-inch if you’re feeling ambitious. I also tried their 2 baklavas — pistachio and walnut. They both look super similar but there’s a very distinct pistachio taste whereas the walnut one just tastes… well«nutty» if you will. I also tried a Mini Rose tasted more like sugar cookie, no floral rose flavor which was rather disappointing. But that’s okay, I’m all about their baklava! Wonderful spot in Richmond — I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

This middle eastern market /diner combo does well serving both functions. I’ve eaten here several times enjoying falafel sandwiches, spinach and feta pie, and the kabobs. The pistachio baklava is one of the best you will find in the Richmond area. The décor is pretty basic — just a few tables, and there is no table service — you have to go up to the counter to get your food. But who cares, the food is good. This would not be my choice for a dinner date, but for lunch the place is perfect. In the market section you will find fresh meats, cheeses, olives, and other prepared ME items. Canned foods and a nice assortment of spices can be found in the dry goods area.

Wow! I love this place. They have a fabulous selection of Mediterranean food, baked goods, and groceries. Everything is fresh and fairly priced. The service is excellent. It’s clean and bright. My only regret is that I didn’t discover this place sooner! I will definitely be returning. I ordered the lamb shwarma. Lamb can be bad if it is not cooked right. This was fall-apart-in-your-mouth tender. Yum! The deserts are incredible. Sweet yet not overpowering. If you are considering Mediterranean in the west end, this is your spot!

We heard about this place from our friends– heard about their great baked goodies. Funny because when we came here, we had a spontaneous dinner & totally forgot about the bakery part of the place! The place had a grocery store on one side, and a mini café on the other. I saw the menu(on chalkboards above the deli area) and got hungry because we had a light lunch! My boyfriend had the Fatayer(meat pie) meal, and I got the chicken kebab meal, which came with one kebab, rice, tzatziki, and some herb type salad(which i didn’t care for, but I don’t like salad /veggies in general.) The chicken was excellent but my favorite was the tzatziki! So tasty! The price of both our meals combined was only $ 14.00, and even included one canned soda! Good food for a good price. I definitely need to check out the baked goods next time. :)
