Starting with doodles on school notebooks I began to explore lettering arts. As self-​described «pen dork», I’ve been broadening my collection of fountain pens and any other interesting writing tool. After years of casual practice with calligraphy, I got a real boost when I decided to do all of the hand-​lettering for my own wedding. I wrote the invitations, envelopes, signs, place cards, and everything else that needed lettering. This turned out to not only be an extremely rewarding experience, it served to fine tune my calligraphy skills. Three months after my wedding I officially began Inky Quills. I serviced mainly the Boston area for 3 years before I decided to return to my home state of Vermont. I work from my studio in lovely Richmond that I share with my wife Katie, who is also an artist. When we’re not in the studio you can find us gardening, cooking, building things, sailing, and biking.
