I will never shop at GNC again. I went in there looking for a vitamin supplement that could easily be mixed into a fruit smoothie. When I asked the guy at the counter(Scott Smith, I believe was his name) he pointed one out to me and suggested the vanilla would mix best with the fruit. After commenting that I had tried this kind before with just water mixed in and didn’t like it, he assured me I could easily return it. This jug of powder was about $ 40, so I was a little apprehensive to make the purchase. Still he assured me once more than all I had to do was bring it back if I didn’t like it and he would fully refund my money. Feeling a bit more at ease I took the supplement home, tried it, and sure enough it(even when mixed with fruit) retained that awful chalky taste. I took it back the very next morning and there was Mr. Smith standing behind the counter. «I’d like to return this, or exchange it…» I tell him. In my haste I had forgotten my receipt(This shouldn’t be an issue right? I mean HE remembered selling it to me not but 24 hours ago and HE was the store manager.) However, he told me he couldn’t take it back and would be happy to refund a ridiculous $ 13 in store credit. I was pretty ticked, and walked outside on my phone and called the GNC800 number, at which point I was told it was at the discretion of the manager(AKA Scott) at that point if he wanted to accept my return. The man on the phone then suggested trying a different GNC… Frustrated I grabbed my jar of wasted cash and left. I was so irritated by the whole thing that I didn’t even want to deal with this manager again and pushed it to the back of my mind for awhile. One day, I went back to return it(with the receipt this time) and saw him at the register and made the decision I would come back tomorrow rather than deal with this guy again. The next day he was still there so I sucked it up and set the jug and receipt on the counter. He looked at both before informing me I was a ‘day’ late to make the return(Yes, I was a day late, because I was avoiding dealing with him again). He said he was sorry and there was nothing he could do, but if I still wanted the $ 13 store refund(for the $ 40 supplements) he could give it to me. I said ‘No thanks’ and left… the Jug still sitting full on my shelf to this day $ 40 wasted. I will never in my life go back to GNC, I suggest anyone out there that needs supplements try anywhere else. Ellwood Thompson has a good selection. Beyond the hassle this guy was rude, and condescending… None of my family shops GNC anymore.

It’s the year 2010. You need a receipt if you want to return something. People can’t «remember» selling you something. They need documentation for their records. Every store will ask you for a receipt, and they should. Love this place. Go here 2x a month. But I don’t flirt with the employees and try to make them bend the rules and lose their jobs.
