For the Love of Pete

What a wonderful pet supplies shop! The owner stocks the finest quality goods. We have bought collars and leads that look as new and pretty as when we bought them 2 years ago. It is difficult to find ribbon collars and leads that hold up to wear. Of course, we had to select more just for the sake of change. The merchandise is displayed in a great, playful manner. The staff could not be nicer. And their love for animals is totally apparent. We only wish that we lived a little closer to shop for our dog more often. Wish we had a shop of this quality and reasonable price point in our area.

My dog and I love this store! Such a friendly staff and wonderful products. My dog gets so excited by the cute collars she gets from here, awesome toys and delicious treats. The owner is so helpful and we love shopping here!

We are so impressed with the quality of the collars and leads that we order from afar. This is the first time we have had collars/​leads that have held up for such a long time — we order new ones just to change up the pattern. We rely on the owner’s help over the phone in selecting new products. The owner clearly loves animals and aims to please their two legged friends.

My fuzzy little one gets to be at the height of fashion due to the tastes of the employees at For the Love of Pete. I tend to pick from items on sale due to a little bit of overpricing. But every doggy mother knows its worth it for our fashionable canines. every one who has a small dog in Richmond needs to discover this place. They have many of those hard to find sweaters and in every size for even the most irregular of breeds.

after visiting a few more times i am not so enthusiastic. the dog ruby is still cool, but thats about it. now theres another dog in their who is ok, but could benefit from some training.
i suppose my first review was very good as i had recently found the place and was quite impressed the first few times we went in.
i had tried to order several items that were not stocked and was told they’d be in very soon. never happened, i stopped in several times looking for them. when i asked why i got a kind of rude response and was told to buy something else. i would preferred to be asked «may i order that for you?» and i would have gladly paid up front, but i dont like merchants telling me to buy something else just becuase tis easier for them.
the owner has scaled back their inventory of our preferred local treat brand (a fantastic product line called PURE dog treats which we now by direct from the makers) and is now stocking more «cutsie yogurt iced crap» treats and a lot of mass produced «gimmicky» treats with human oriented flavors.
all the food prices went up alot (i know all the premium food prices went up but her increases are out of line w/​everyone else’s i figure they’re probably tacking on an extra 15%)
i have also noticed a far less friendly and helpful manner from the owner. i guess she figures after she «hooks» you she can then be kind of snarky and a bit mean. lame.
now that Gingers and Fido park avenue are in short pump i dont think we’ll be returning. between the bad service, low stocking of an awesome local brand, and way too high food price i think we will be going elsewhere from now on. honestly if they kept more of those local made treats we love on hand we might be back just for them, but until that happens we wont.
