First & Main Computer Service

I went in there to get my charging port fixed, which they said would take 15 minutes or so, so I hung around. They replaced it, which did not fix my phone, and said «we’re going to try something else, so wait a little more» so I did. They had it in the back for about an hour and a half, and finally came out and explained the following to me: They could not fix the charging port and believe it to be a logic board issue, which they said would be too expensive to fix. During the repair process, they broke my screen. They replaced the screen with a new one and said «we can’t fix your phone, but we did break your screen. However we gave you a brand new one and we’re only going to charge you $ 35.» ****EDIT: The fee I was charged was strictly a service charge for time spent working on my device, and not to cover the cost of the screen itself.**** I was charged for their time working on my device, but I don’t think I should have paid it. One of the reasons they had to work on it for as long as they did was because they made a technical mistake, then had to continue working to correct that. If they hadn’t damaged the phone in the first place then their employees would not have spent as long working on it as they did. The explanation for this was «it’s Friday afternoon, it’s been a long day, mistakes happen» and I was told by the receptionist that she didn’t make up the rules, she just works there. The owner agreed on $ 20 instead of the initial $ 35 and I (still) think he agreed to it frankly because he knew what they were trying to do to me was unethical. I left with the exact problem I came in with, a non-​Apple screen (which now voids Apple’s ability to work on it) and $ 20 poorer. To make matters worse, one of the employees told me to go to the Apple store to get my broken logic board fixed for cheaper than they could. So, the following Monday I went to the Apple store only to find out that they don’t replace things like that. Another 2 hours wasted. I think they should greatly consider what could potentially happen during a repair and communicate that to the customer before committing to the repair, and should also make sure all 3^rd party information (such as Apple store policy) they give to the customer is correct.

Great computer services and computers. Excellent prices, helpful staff and good advice. I killed two laptops in a short span of time and they helped me get back up and running on a new to me laptop for the same price it would have cost to buy one online but BEFORE shipping and taxes!
They walked me through the diagnosis of my computers, gave me the options for repairs vs. buying a new course and reasonable advice when I asked what the best course of action would be for me to take. I felt in control of my decisions and they were never pushy and I never felt any pressure. I can’t recommend these guys enough if you’re looking for some great local computer repairs or even if you’re looking for a new to you computer.

They were unable to repair daughter’s phone but were honest and prompt about telling us so.

I have an apple MacBook and the screen was shot. If Apple fixed it, I would have had to wait a week for an appointment only for them to tell me I need a new screen. I walked into First and Main without an appointment and they fixed the screen in two days for a fair price. Glad they are there.

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to write my review, but the excellent experience at First & Main was around February this year.
So for my part, I had decided that a real case for my iPhone 5 wasn’t needed since I never dropped it, but then of course I did. It was bad to the point of a cracked screen that had also become disconnected from the rest of the phone (literally hanging on by a wire). When I took it into F&M, I was warmly greeted by the super-​sweet lady at the desk. She was great and with a smirk as she eyed the remains of my iPhone, she told me it could be done. The only issue might be the back button thing, since it had popped out of the phone. She asked for one of the gents in the back, he came out, checked it out and told me he had another button.
Now the whole time I’m just glad that people are telling me that they can fix this and that I don’t have to mess with insurance. But here’s the best part: Super-​sweet lady tells me to come back in an hour and then quotes me $ 30 less than the other iPhone repair people I talked to and $ 40 less than an insurance replacement. I came back in an hour to a fully repaired phone that didn’t break the bank, bought a case from them, and ⁶¹⁄₂ months later I’m writing this on the phone they fixed.

Great place! Prices are definitely reasonable. I only say 4 stars because of a recent issue with reception, but Matt is AMAZING! He always helps me with my phone and he was very helpful this last time around as I hit a few bumps in the road and he did everything he could to rectify it. Thanks a bunch Matt!
