The worst service ever. It was a rainy day and your standing outside waiting to be helped. They just had 1 person working helping u-​haul and gas customers. Never use this place. They price is not valid to your sale at the end. No star for this place!!!

Getting a U-​haul from this gas station was one of the shadier business experiences of my life. While the owner was polite and friendly enough, it was no doubt an attempt to get close to my wallet and completely rip me off. First he told me that the 10′ footer I had reserved the day before had been given away by accident and that I needed to pay $ 10 more for a 14′ footer instead. I threatened to go to the real U-​haul place and he backed down real quick, giving me the 14′ for the 10′ price. Then he tried to tell me that I had to pay $ 40 if I brought it back after I said I would — even if I didn’t take my full 24 hours. Sooo, I told him I would take it for 24 hours, knowing full well I would be back to return it the same day. I could tell he was upset that I was intelligent enough to not give him an unnecessary $ 40.
Upon returning the truck, my bill came out about $ 15 higher than it should have — and he was clearly trying to avoid showing me the breakdown in charges. Upon asking, he breezed through them, and mentioned $ 14 extra insurance he had taken the liberty of adding without consent — I told him I never asked for it, and he never told me he was adding it. Then, he tried to tell me it wasn’t optional. Only one word describes that statement: Bull$hit. I knew the insurance was optional from previous u-​haul rentals, and he backed down (shhhaaaddddyyyyyyy).
Bottom line — don’t give this douchebag the business, go to the real u-​haul, get what you pay for and none of the run around. Also, if you do go here — watch this guy LIKE A HAWK!

I needed a U-​Haul truck for moving my belongings from an apartment to a house in El Cerrito. As there weren’t any U-Haul’s in the city, I drove down Cutting to this place in Richmond. The man operating the business was locked inside a small shack which was protected by a security system and a thick door. They must be very concerned with security and maybe for good reason; a driver stopping by for gas actually threatened a gas attendant while I was there. The owner was abrasive to deal with and kept telling me that any damage sustained to the truck would be my fault. I wish I had known about the insurance scams places like these run. Check with your insurance company to verify whether you actually need to purchase additional coverage from U-​Haul. There is no parking so you cannot leave your car there while you take the truck. I eventually found street parking, though the owner was no help there. When I brought the truck back the owner was incredulous that I had not swept the truck even though the only thing I had left behind was a stray twist tie or two. If the owner had been more polite or welcoming I might have given this another star.
