Another Brazilian pizza joint in Richmond. Another mediocre pizza joint, but very friendly staff. I prefer this place over Mr. Pizzaman down the street. Also, they make some other dishes if you want something other than Pizza delivered.

This restaurant has a new owner and new name, Maria Maria. We got dinner there tonight and it was great — chicken parmiagiana, and fettucini with pesto cream sauce. The food was totally scrumptious, like you’d get in a really nice Italian restaurant. Sauces are all made in-house and the food tastes very comforting and fresh. It’s a storefront only, not big on atmosphere but the food totally rocks — perfect for take-out or delivery(your choice) — and prices are very competitive. Next time we’re going to order the pizza, and the ribs.

If you order pizza from here expect one thing. If they say it will be 45 minutes they really mean it will 90 minutes or more. 4 out of 4 times they have done this. We ordered at 5:30 and got our pizza at 7:10. The driver called three times to figure out where we live in our complex). It’s not that hard. He said he was confused because he could make a left or a right and didn’t know which was to go. Last time I checked people don’t live on a tennis court. It was an obvious right. It took him 15 minutes to find us. Then looked angry about a $ 5.50 tip. The pizza was cold and went right into the oven. I don’t know if it is the entire operation or the driver’s, but I am done giving this place chances. Last time I ever order from here. Good thing I bought Boboli crust at the grocery store last week.

De Neri ended up in our rotation by leaving a pamphlet on our porch. I generally try not to encourage this behavior with business, as that it kills trees and makes my dogs bark a lot. Unfortunately I just discovered that our go-to delivery place is closed on Mondays. I pulled De Neri’s menu out of the recycling bin purely out of convenience. The price was decent, $ 23 for two medium 1 topping pizzas including tax and a tip for the driver(with the double deal coupon). It took 1 hour 5 minutes to arrive, which is a little long for a Monday night. The guy on the phone promised 45 minutes, 1 hour tops, so they were close. The pizza itself was mediocre. The sauce was a little sour, the crust was bready, the cheese was congealed upon arrival. The olives were really salty. The pizza wasn’t bad per say. The pineapple chunks were big and juicy, maybe fresh pineapple? So yeah, not bad. It just wasn’t that great. With so many delivery choices in the Bay Area, it’ll be a while before we try De Neri again.
