If bacon is your preferred meat of choice well this is the festival for you. There was no shortage of pork embellished dishes at this event. From traditional dishes of bacon cheeseburgers and ribs to unique treats of bacon infused drinks and desserts, there was something for everyone. The set up of the event could have been better. All the popular stands and dishes were all on a narrow hill towards the back of the festival. If you wanted a funnel cake garnished in bacon or a mountain of butterfly fries drenched in cheese and bacon the wait was as long as P. Diddy’s child support payments but it was worth the wait and the calories. There was an open field which could have been utilized more. This more than likely avoided though due to the temperature being on fleek, reaching almost 100 degrees that day. Most stands were attempting to be under some sort of shade or trees, which caused the congestion of people in some areas of the event. Despite the heat and crowd the festival was filled with delightful sounds and smells. From the bands jamming and covering recent radio favorites to the decadent bacon creations, the festival was highly enjoyable. A stylish hat and cool spot in the shade is a must to attend this fatty festival. I will definitely attend this event again next year. Let’s just pray for cooler temperatures to go alongside our bacon!

Absolutely LOVE the idea that there’s a bacon festival! I’ve had — bacon and shrimp fried rice, Chinese bbq pork bun, bacon cannoli with chocolate peanut butter filling(would not get again — bacon wasn’t super crisp), bacon cinnamon Chinese fried donuts(didn’t taste the bacon and wouldn’t get again), Mexican street corn with bacon(AMAZING), pork belly empanada, smoked lemonade(WAY too sweet). Most plates were $ 4 but some were $ 3 and the lemonade was $ 2. $ 4 portions were reasonable and sharable between two people. Was WAY too hot outside so I didn’t want to try more food. They also had some other vendors(part of the farmer’s market?) selling gift items and one vendor sold I Love Bacon t-shirts and the like. They post information about parking, menu, vendor locations the week before the event. WAY awesome!!! They had event people helping at the parking pay stations and people guiding traffic where needed. Very well planned!!! We arrived a little after 11am(start time of event) and parking wasn’t as bad.

The creations I got to try were awesome and tasty which is why I gave 3 stars. My favorite was the sugar and spice bacon fries. Deep fried bacon tossed in brown sugar and cayenne pepper. Unbelievably amazing! Now here comes the big HOWEVER: the lines were abominable, the location barely held the crowd, most spots only took cash and the ATM line was ridiculous, and the worst part? Many of the places ran out of the bacon inspired food they were there to sell! I stood in line for 45 minutes to reach the front of one line to be told the bacon wrapped shrimp were gone 2 hours ago. Seriously??? Go early before the crowd booms and the food disappears. If I don’t get out there early next year I’m not going.

I went to the Bacon Fest on Sunday afternoon. The festival had more people than the Farmers Market could hold. The food and drink lines had an hour or more wait. Bacon Fest had interesting creations like bacon sundaes, bacon latte, and bacon fried oysters. I didn’t drink but different beers were on tap. I wasn’t able to go to every food station because of the long lines. I did try the bacon sundae, delicious! A lot of restaurants near the venue had bacon specials during the festival. The atmosphere was live but very crowded. Bands were playing live music for spectators. I think the 1st annual bacon festival was a huge hit. I think the organizer has to move the festival to a bigger location. I look forward to Bacon Fest next year. Keep in mind that majority of the food stations are CASHONLY. I give the 1st annual Bacon Fest a 3.5 rating.
