A young man was killed in a elevator in one of their buildings. The elevator had a violation going back to 2014. He died a horrible death being crushed by a falling elevator as it ripped his body apart. He was just going to see his Grandmother on New Years eve.

Where do I begin…
My experience with Wavecrest Management began in 2011 and since then I have been threatened with two evictions, went without adequate heat for several winters, I was denied access to common areas, and it is like pulling teeth when getting in contact with building staff and management.
First off — the evictions were a complete joke and I should have sued for the emotional distress I experienced. The first time they claimed I didn’t pay rent for several months. I sent e-​mails and letters to several management employees that went unanswered mostly. It took weeks to get the situation rectified and in the end they barely offered an apology for not applying my payments. To this day I still have the negative ‘non-​payment dispossess’ on my rent ledger. Do they care that this could influence my chances of obtaining another apartment in the future? Probably not. The second time was for non-​payment of ONE MONTHS RENT… ONE MONTH?! I spoke with billing directly after no response from my Property Manager (PM) and they manage to get it worked out within hours after proof of payment was sent over.
Secondly, I haven’t experienced many major issues in my apartment but I went a few years without adequate heat. The first year we had a pretty warm winter and I didn’t make a big deal of it. Once the brutal winter came rolling around I found myself walking around the apartment with a full on winter gear on. The Super walked in one time and compared it to a Meat Locker — I told the PM that and his response was ‘stop. please, stop the exaggeration’. It truly was no exaggeration — I resorted to boiling water to generate heat many nights. I made daily calls and complaints to 311 which did nothing! Each case was closed but no one every came to visit my apartment to investigate the conditions. I tracked the temperature in my apartment every hour on the hour and logged all the extra expenses incurred for space heaters. I taped up my window and insulated my AC sleeve with a comforter the super ruined one day when he opened up the radiator without shutting off the valve. It was a nightmare and I was preparing to contact a lawyer if the building had not made efforts to fix the problem. They took action as soon as I started posting notices around the building. Management claimed no one else was making complaints so I wanted to make sure everyone knew who to complain to.
Thirdly, within my first two years at the building I was planning my best friends surprise baby shower, and our building has the perfect small courtyard I thought to host the gathering. I inquired about renting the space for a few hours one afternoon. I was given a price and after some back and forth I was told they changed their minds and no one could use the space. More disturbing than the community room is the laundry room which fits only two small washers and two dryers. The machines were out a total of 4 weeks earlier this year because the machine company did not collect the quarters from the machine. Tenants took to the bulletin board to vent their frustrations and I notified building management about the situation. I then followed– up with the Super who told me the letter I wrote to management did not make them happy and that he was instructed to shut down the laundry room completely if he continued to receive further complaints. So I properly complain to management and they threaten to shut us down?!
Lastly, Wavecrest MAnagement sucks balls at communication! As an Administrative professional for over 10 years, it is incredibly difficult for me to tolerate such incompetence. I have records o e-​mails gone unanswered from 2011, and the countless voicemails — I can’t even begin! Worst of all is the Super they appointed to manage our building. The guy is nice, and its nothing personal, but with 69% of the community being SINGLE working professionals with NO children, it is very difficult to accommodate HIS schedule for repairs. They hire this man, who already has a full time position next door by the way, to manage the building part-​time during the DAY (Monday — Friday 9 – 5). Again, being a young professional with no one else in the apartment, it is very difficult to schedule a time for him to review simple repairs. I have the supers direct number and I usually get the voicemail. His wife, a non building employee as far as I’m concerned (because she has not been formally introduced) calls me back to confirm they received my messages, Its always a game of cat and mouse with the super and management and they never seem to be on the same page. As of recently the super has placed a sheet in the lobby where you can state your issues for a call back — then the super gets back to you by placing a post it note on your front door for a time to schedule an appointment with him… again, Monday — Friday 9−5… what kind of joke is this?

The fridge no longer works. Called in for repair on a Friday and they never responded. all meats and frozen food spoiled. They decided to come 14days later.

I have seen previous reviews for this property management company elsewhere (which were horrible) and I thought to share my experience.
I gave Wavecrest 3 stars because it is true, they do minimal amount of work but you can be sure that the rent bill will be under your door ON TIME each month.
I have been living in my building for about 17 months and must say I haven’t had any MAJOR issues. However, I do recall that prior to being in my apartment for a year, Wavecrest sent a rent renewal packet to my home. I originally signed a two-​year lease so I didn’t quite understand why I had received this packet. I called multiple times and then finally someone picked up and gave me the contact information to who I should discuss the issue with. I called that woman as well and she NEVER returned my call, but I was able to get her email. Once I emailed her she then fixed the problem within two days. I feel no connection with the management company. I do feel that they are there to collect their rent payments, but I cannot entirely say that they suck. Thankfully, my super is a live-​in super and he is AMAZING. Every problem that I have I go straight to him and he fixes it 1.2.3. with no problems. I haven’t had any issues with the building I live in itself either. Maybe I was lucky or maybe the management company isn’t the worst after all, but I do personally feel that they need to be more involved with the tenants and be more customer service oriented.

Avoid buildings they manage at all costs. You can read other reviews for more details. Ignore the warnings at your own risk — this company is terrible, run by unethical and incompetent people who simply don’t care, at all, about the people in their buildings.
They took over management of the building I was in, thought the rents were too low, and proceeded to threaten everyone with eviction for non-​payment of rent. *Everyone*. Oh, you might think, obviously people can prove if they’ve paid. Correct. But not everyone has a lawyer to go to court and advocate on their behalf. And sending Wavecrest proof of payment — no response. Nothing. I got an eviction notice on my door.
I happen to have a lawyer in the family who went to court for me. In court, the lawyer for Wavecrest was sitting on a stack of cases, running through them — she was surprised when mine came up and she was challenged (with a stack of canceled checks proving I had always paid rent).
I quickly and easily won this case, but many people simply moved out due to the harassment. Within 3 months I got a job overseas and moved out. A year later the NY Dept of Investigation contacted me to let me know they were recovering money from the management firm because they had illegally taken «broker fees» from everyone upon moving in. I was not surprised.
Anyhow…I have not written many Unilocal reviews, and I care more about food than real estate management firms — but when I saw Wavecrest on here, I couldn’t help myself.
These people are indiscriminate, incompetent crooks. Stay away.

Property Manager Roger Stuart is probably the most miserable person I have ever encountered. He is extremely rude and I have spoken to his supervisor about his conduct. He talks down to people and is an overall nasty person.

Rude, unprofessional and unorganized are some of the words that would describe management. Stand clear and far away of this management office.

This management company is the worst! We had to go to court 4 times already because they wouldn’t fix our apartment. There is a huge rat, a lot of holes, paint that needs to be re-​painted again, floors that need to be done, a lot of holes, mold, basically we’re living like bums! But be late of rent or miss one month and they’ll be on you. I honestly don’t know why they haven’t been sued yet. And they’re suppose to also have a lawyer checking on them. What is the lawyer doing?!

this is a terrible management company. Repairs take such a long time. The financial department is terrible they need an accountant that can actually do math. I send in my rent statement weeks in advance before the 1^st of the month and they always say i still have a balance or late fees or some other made up fees. i call to get the issue resolved and they fix it. The issue I see that is so wrong is that they make countless of mistakes and there might be some people who automatically think oh man what did i do wrong. Yet its the management company that is doing things wrong. It has happened to me once before i over paid them and even my bank statements prove it. yet they were giving me such a hard time and still saying i had an outstanding balance. man don’t even get me started on the way their employees speak on the phone. Ill just say one word– RUDE!
anyway if u can choose to live under another management company go for it. Dont even look at wavecrest. although they are a little better then suckie knickerbocker! but not that great!

I have made several attempts to speak to someone in your management company. I teach professionalism in a trade school, and this lack to return someone calls isn’t professional at all. I’ve left numerous voicemail, and I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve called since my court date in July.
My issue has been my incorrect rent statement. You haven’t returned my calls, but you mail me a «notice to tenant» about my rent. The one time I got someone from wavecrest on the phone was with a woman named D. She claimed I owed $ 10,000 back when I was in court. That was clearly inaccurate. After that one conversation where I was supposed to call her back with all the necessary paper, I never was able to get her back on the phone. I don’t know if you’ve read the reviews about your company online, but your negative communication skills seem to be a universal complaint.

NO ONE EVER RETURNED MY CALL. GOING TO COURT NOW DUE TO EVICTION NOTICE… 1÷31÷13

Applied for an apartment with this building back in August. Was sent to look at some places and found a beautiful apartment I loved, when I applied for it I was told «I do not qualify for this». Why not tell me this before I go look at the apartment? Anyways, the agent I worked with (Hordaliza) told me, not to fret, that I should check in with her on a weekly basis since new apartments come up every week and something should come up. The last time I spoke to her was in September, four months, 15 emails, 16 phone calls, and 10 voicemails later… nothing!!! These people have all my paystubs, taxes, bank statements etc and have yet to have the courtesy to return simple emails. Never again!

The worst company ever. They took over my apartment building a little while ago, and it has been such a horrible experience. From people not answering the phone, and when they do they are rude, to leaving voicemails and sending emails that go un-​responded. And I rarely need anything, as I pretty much fix most things myself (which I know I probably shouldn’t it just in my nature), but the few times I do call, its just indescribably. I mean, I have called like 10 times and left 6 voicemails in 2 days and still didn’t get a response. I would really like to get out of my lease, though I love my apartment soooo much, I just don’t feel the desire to pay such incompetent rude people!!! I’d never recommend this company to anyone!!! I miss my old management :-(
Oh and they get a negative five starts!

So I applied to a low-​income apartment that is being handled through wavecrest. Called over to see what’s going on with my applications the damn receptionist kept transferring me to a voicemail. Not a damn fan of this at all.

This management company is very difficult to deal with. I had applied for an apartment through HDP. Initially the agent handling my application was very helpful, but after about a week this agent stopped following up. I left ⁵⁄₆ voicemail and ⁴⁄₅ email over the course of 2 months but never got a reply.
After I filled a complaint with the BBB, she finally returned my messages with a lame excuse that my file had been given to another agent. When I asked about the agent, surprisingly this 2^nd agent was no longer with the company. Another ¾ weeks passed and after several emails, she never answered the questions I had.
This whole endeavored occurred over 5 months and the situation has still not been resolved. Because of this whole situation, I no longer want to deal with this management company, and I don’t recommend them.
If I could give negative stars, Wavecrest Management would get –5 stars.

my building management just got taken over from Knickerbocker by Wavecrest. on our building bulletin board there is a notice letting us know that Wavecrest has taken over and that we will not be getting rent envelopes. it would be NICE if i could actually READ the address but no. their ink was fading so the majority of the address is cut off. IDIOTS. how are we suppose to send the rent to an address we cannot read?
when i called to tried to confirm the request, the receptionist transfers my call before i even finish my question which of course goes to voicemail. WTF. i swear these building management teams hire monkeys and are run by monkeys.

Wavecrest does as little as they can. They don’t answer the phone and just send you rent bills.

–1 if there was a choice, There is an employee by the name of «Maria» who is so nasty. You can’t ever get someone to return a call. This has to be one of the worst companies to deal with, they will yes you to death. Stay away!
