Business Owner
Dermot F. Kennedy, Esquire — Mr. Kennedy was an attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, from 1982 to 1986. There, he litigated tax cases for the IRS; advised its agents on the administration of the tax code; and spoke to professional groups on tax matters. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Kennedy served as a member, then head of the Tax Department, at the firm of Curtin and Heefner. In 1991 Mr. Kennedy formed his own law firm. His law practice is focused on Federal and State tax matters pertaining to the financing of affordable multi-family housing developments for seniors, families, disabled and single family home ownership, rental programs. Mr. Kennedy has provided legal assistance in over seventy (70) affordable housing projects, ranging from Long Island New York to St. Thomas in the U.S.V.I. financed from a combination of public and private sector funds including Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Private Activity Tax-Exempt Bonds, Capital Funds, Federal Home Lo
