History
Established in 2007.
The Collared Scholar is a full service dog training academy that focuses on behavior modification and training for urban living. Ms. Karnes, the company’s president and training director, has developed a specialization in bully breeds with emphasis on anti-aggression training and behavior modification. She has also worked extensively with deaf dogs and dogs with other disabilities. She has also partnered with several California based dog training companies to offer service and working dog programs
The company now services all of San Diego County. They offer such services as Puppy Classes, Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Agility, and Anti-Aggression Training. The company also offers a rescue and rehabilitation program to help save dogs in need.

Business Owner
The Collared Scholar founder and head behaviorist Meagan Karnes has been involved in dog training since 2002. She is the recent winner of SDSU’s Charles Lamden Rising Star award for excellence in business. She has studied under some of the top national and international trainers and has developed an expertise in dealing with aggression and problem dogs. She has a B.S. and MBA from San Diego State University.
