History

Established in 2011.

Sweet Firefly is a locally owned gourmet ice cream and candied treats shop nestled in the heart of Richardson’s Canyon Creek neighborhood. In addition to ice cream and candy, we also offer coffee, hot cocoa, shaved ice and other seasonal goodies. Our main mission is to spread joy by offering simple goodness and a welcoming environment for our guests!

Patti and Angie, the proprietors of Sweet Firefly, look forward to meeting you soon and introducing you not only to our gourmet ice cream shop, but also to all of the other wonderful shops and restaurants in the II Creeks Shopping Center where Sweet Firefly is located.

Angie and Patti opened Sweet Firefly in October of 2001 and are enjoying spreading joy one delicious scoop at a time!

This is my favorite ice cream place hands down. Ever.
Since I can’t have dairy, I am always looking for the best sorbet I can find and I have 100% found it here. Their mango and bellini sorbets are to die for, and they have different sizes of really yummy cones or cups to hold your dessert. You can also mix and match flavors, and the staff is always willing to help you choose complementing flavors.
The décor is also incredibly adorable. They have cute art and even though it’s a small shop, it seems homey instead of cramped. They have a bit of seating inside and benches outside as well.
The manager and staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful! The first time we came in they welcomed us and let everyone in my group try as many different flavors as we wanted. I actually dropped my ice cream one time and the guy behind the counter gave me a new one, which was so sweet.

Found this place when I came looking for the coffee place. It’s a small little ice cream shop that can get crowded with little kids and college students. The workers are friendly and of course, we can sample the different types of ice cream. Though they would sometimes have a special one where you cannot sample and have to get it when you’re daring.
I mainly come here for the sorbet especially the mango. The peach and champagne was a bit weird tasting for me and raspberry is not enjoyable. The cream/​milk based are nothing too special. well the ones I picked so far, cause I’m not really adventurous.
Finally the cost of this place is a bit expensive for my taste. I don’t really like how they hand scooped the ice cream, cause it’s not like you’ll get the same amount every time you come here. So I don’t really visit here anymore. Though I’m planning to once the weather gets warmer.

Genre defining /​life changing ice cream. They use a low amount of air volume here, which results in a much more satisfying mouth feel than other places. It might increase their costs, but it guarantees that people will be happier with the product.
You can split each scoop into two flavors. So a three scoop cup can become up to six glorious flavors. Scoop master Chloe gave her expert guidance of the flavors menu. We ended up selecting chocolate, sea salt caramel and bourbon vanilla
Shout out to Patty, one the owners of this fine place. It may have been a cold winter night, but her warmth permeated her entire establishment.

I will be 100% honest. I am surprised at how clean they keep this little shop, with all the little kids running in and out all pumped up eating ice cream, and smudging their hands all over everything. This place is a wonderful little shop that sells sweets, snow cones, and ice cream.
Cute little store front, and gourmet delicious flavors. I have tried 3 flavors so far after 5 visits (sometimes you just gotta have that salted caramel).
The only complaint is with some of the chocolates that they use in the ice cream, have a normal/​high melting point. Take for instance Beltline Berry, which has chunks of chocolate in it. Since it is split into chunks in the ice cream, the chocolate becomes very hard and doesn’t really melt once you are eating the ice cream. You just kind of crunch through the chocolate. I am really not sure if it’s because the chocolate they use has high coco content or is the sugar free variety.
I know you are thinking, dude don’t be crazy all chocolate won’t melt easy if you are eating it in chunks inside a ice cream. BUT I would refer you to Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream. Packed full of chocolate chunks that melt once you get a chunk in your mouth.
Other than that this place is awesome. I just refrain from ordering the ice cream with choco-​chunks, which they have plenty of.

Hand down, the best ice cream in North Dallas/​Plano! We ordered the Beltline Berry, Strawberry, Kookie Monster, Mint Chip, Orange Chocolate, Oreo, and Bellini.
Pay close attention to the flavors up on the menu because some of them won’t be in the display and you’ll miss out on some of the best flavors.
You can sit inside or go outside and hang out on the benches amid the lit-​up trees.
No matter where you choose to sit, you’ll be enjoying the finest and freshest ice cream in Dallas!

Ice cream! Ice cream! Who doesn’t love ice cream? Well if you love ice cream, Sweet Firefly is the place to go. My husband chose the Toffee Coffee and I chose the Mint Chocolate Chip. Every spoon was literally perfection and super creamy. The single scoop (sweet mama) was more than enough unless you really have a super sweet tooth. I love how every spoon had large chocolate chips and toffee bits. So yummy!

I LOVE SWEET FIREFLY! As a nanny, I take the kiddos here all the time, and it’s just a fun little place with MAGNIFICENT ice cream! Kyle’s favorites are the raspberry sorbet and cinnamon, and Julia’s favorite is birthday cake! I get coffee toffee and I love it! The staff knows exactly how to help you make decisions and do not get impatient with you at all, even when their line goes out the doors, which it does quite often (even on a random Tuesday at 2)! Angie is amazing, and Chloe is magnificent! I’m about to go now, because just talking about it makes me want their delicious, soft ice cream!

We were visiting our cousins in Richardson when we stumbled upon this place. It is very popular and has long lines.
The flavors are overall unique and tasty. They have alcohol adult flavors as well. I got the salted caramel which was yummy and my daughter got cookies and cream. Both were satisfactory. Overall it’s a solid place for your ice cream fix!

Lovely cute place with amazing ice cream!!! I loved it!!! I loved it!!! Their ice cream is amazingly delicious!!! I don’t know how they make it but OMG they are all amazing!!! Staff are nice too, they are happy to give me a sample of any flavour.
I wish they had another branch in Shreveport-​Bossier City. I would go there everyday and maybe two times a day! Just LOVED IT LOADS!

My husband and I moved to Richardson just over a year ago. Our sweet relator told us that we must try Sweet Firefly, we are SO glad we took her advice– this is our absolute favorite spot. I am secretly ready to get pregnant just so I have an excuse to go more than once a week! I LOVE the SEA SALT & CARMEL! Before I tried that for the first time, I had a variety of other flavors, which I absolutely loved but now I am stuck & in love!
The customer service is the best. Everyone is happy and super friendly! Today I went in to get a scoop and shared that I lived next door to a couple who also loves Sweet Firefly, but the woman passed away suddenly a few weeks ago. They sent a care package for me to take to him. He appreciated it more than words can say! It’s the small things in life that mean the most!
Do yourself a favor and stop by for a sweet treat! :)

Awesome ice-​cream! Cute little place in a quiet area. It’s cozy. The guy let me try as many flavors as I wanted. Good thing I was the only one in there for a while. Then it got packed quick! There was a small gathering for a 4 year old’s birthday where the manager came out and had everyone sing happy birthday to her.
Ice cream is made locally across the street at a church. Real fresh, creamy, and high quality. Top three were the bourbon vanilla, beltline berry, and salted caramel. But I decided the first two would pair perfect. Worth the trip out!

Very high quality ice cream — well worth the wait in line
I highly recommend the slowpoke flavor (chocolate with sea salt caramel and pecans). The portions are generous, the staff is friendly/​helpful, and it’s the kind of dessert that is so good, you don’t feel guilty about it.

I am sooo glad that we decided to give this place another try. This cute store is tucked away in a shopping area in a quiet neighborhood. There are lights, trees, and benches that make the area so romantic. When we came the first time, we tried coconut shaved ice. Barely coming back from California and trying their sweet shaved cream, the shaved ice was a disappointment. However, we came back the second time to try their ice cream. The people were nice and let us try several flavours although I was pretty settled on my first try.
I ended up getting the smallest bowl (sweet mama?) with half & half of a scoop. So I ended up with half of lavender honey and coffee toffee which made up one scoop. One scoop was huge! The price was cheap compared to a lot of ice cream places so that was really nice. The lavender honey was purple, sweet, and tasted like a flower. Well, I don’t know what flowers taste like but it reminded me of flowers. The coffee flavour was pretty good too!

Really cute place to hang out for unique frozen desserts! I like the lavender & honey ice cream, the Bellini sorbet, and the bourbon vanilla for an adult treat! The owners are really nice and personable and there is a party room in the back you can rent for parties for $ 5/​hr supposedly! ;p they are pretty busy on the weekends! I want to try their ice desserts next time! I love the buckets of old school figurines and toys for kids to play with under the check out counter! Wish they had a place like this in my neighborhood! I’d go back!

Sweet Firefly makes me want to eat ice cream every single day! In fact, I plan on going back today! Just walking in the door will put you in a good mood and place a smile on your face. They offer unique and gourmet flavors that are beautifully and wonderfully made, as well as canisters of old fashioned candy sold by weight. I came here this afternoon with a friend and her daughter for some ice cream. Sweet Firefly had been on my radar for awhile and I was glad to finally be able to sample some of their offerings.
Upon entering the shop, there were a bunch of people sitting outside enjoying their ice cream on their patio. Inside, people were scattered throughout. What? Packed on a Thursday afternoon? This must be good.
I sampled the bourbon vanilla and the toffee coffee and decided on the coffee toffee in a waffle cone.
The ice cream was delicious and the little shop had so much character. Service was quick and friendly. I wish they had a few more flavors, but I will definitely come back again.

My friend introduced me to this amazing little ice cream shop. It’s located in the middle of some neighborhoods on Custer in a cute little strip that reminds of something right out of a Disney. I went on a Sunday evening and there was a line out the door. My friend assured me that it was worth the wait and she was right! They carry so many great flavors and gave me as much time as I needed enforce deciding. I finally decided on the Granddaddy (3 scoops) since I had waited to long I figured I deserved it. I got the salted caramel, coffee toffee and the coconut and I was in heaven. The cherry on top was definitely the staff, they were all so nice and seemed so happy to be working even though they were swamped with customers. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to visit local stores with delicious treats!
There’s a few restaurants in the area that are now on my list to try too. Next time I’m in the area I’m definitely stopping by after for dessert!

I have had almost all of their flavors. I love them. They are maybe 5 minutes from my house and when I want ice cream I go there. The worker’s even no my husband and eye because we go in to much ha. The best ice cream in all of dallas in my opinion.
Also remeber they do take home pints so when you are done with dinner stop in and get a pint. Plus support someone local.
I can say I don’t have a favorite flavor because they are all good even the weird blue one. It is cookie monster and I felt like a little kid for ordering it but it was good

This location is tucked into Custer, around the corner from Pearl Cup Coffee. It’s a pretty small shop, but perfectly cozy with small chairs for small groups. Very clean.
The staff is so friendly and personable! She was very helpful with the choices. Apparently you can get two flavors on a single scoop! They don’t have too many flavors, and the flavors are rotated seasonally. I got a single scoop of Coconut Almond fudge in the waffle cone. The coconut was very prominent in this flavor (which was amazing), and almond was subtle. It was a little too fudge for me, I’ll probably try something different next time!

What sets this place apart is the quality of ice cream and the incredible taste each bite.
Dairy isn’t exactly my best friend, but my Sweet Firefly two scoops of Oreo and Chocolate Peanut Butter was worth every single bite! My hubby also enjoyed every bite of his Sea Salt Caramel and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
Seriously, the quality of every bite was incredible. I’ve made my way through many an ice cream shop and the oreo, peanut butter and chocolate are top notch.
Not only will we be coming back here many times over, this is going to be our «go to» ice cream place. You know, when we feel like testing our digestive system’s love of dairy :)
