Dr. Riggs is board certified in Orofacial Pain and is a diplomat of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his DDS degree form the University of Texas Dental Branch Houston in 1977. He was on the faculty at the University of TX Dental School at San Antonio where he developed a TMJ curriculum and was director of the Orofacial Pain/​TMD clinic in the General Practice Residency Program. He also coauthored a chapter in A Textbook on Occlusion that is used by many dental schools today. In 1985 he established a private practice in Richardson TX limited to the diagnosis and management of patients with orofacial pain, head/​neck pain TM disorders and sleep disorders. Dr. Riggs manages patients utilizing a multidisciplinary protocol to provide a differential diagnosis and conservative treatment plan. He maintains active memberships with many associations to stay abreast of current research.
