The Richardson Chamber of Commerce (RCC) is North Texas’ premier chamber of commerce and serves as the voice of the local Richardson business community, focused on driving business success. In the top 1 percent of chambers in the nation with a 5-star accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the RCC focuses on professional growth, leadership, advocacy, connection-building and economic development for the Richardson community.

History

Established in 1947.

Richardson Chamber was founded by community leaders to prepare for economic growth following World War II. Richardson was not considered an ideal location for business and industry, because of its wide open landscape and its distance from accessible roads.

Later, Central Expressway reached Richardson, and Texas Instruments set up operations. As Richardson continued to grow, the Chamber formed an Economic Development Partnership with the City of Richardson to attract more businesses and jobs. The city was recognized as the «boom town» of the 1990s by the Wall Street Journal.

Today, the Chamber is credited with bringing some of the world’s largest corporations and for helping brand Richardson as the Electronics Center of the Southwest. The high-tech industry alone in Richardson boasts 6,500 firms and more than 200,000 employees. Richardson is the second largest technology business center in the United States.
