Golden Joy BBQ — We think golden Joy is great, very clean nice people good food. The dim sum is as good as we’ve had in Vancouver, New York City, or San Francisco, they’ve got a nice selection and the prices are very inexpensive. Most of the staff can speak fairly good English and understand what you are asking for, mostly I just point at the pictures. I think it is fairly authentic, but what do I know I’ve never been to China. I do know that the food is good and I always enjoy myself when I go. I’ve been 10 or 12 times and never disappointed.

There is so much to try. We ordered the BBQ Pork with roasted duck, BBQ pork dim sum, eggs rolls, and shrimp dumpling noodle soup. All of the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was excellent and courteous as well. I will definitely be going back to try some more of their delicious food!

I had Dim Sum yesterday, and it was actually pretty good. The food was hot and fresh and the service was pretty good too. They came and took empty dishes when we were finished and always refill our water.

The service was horrendous. They were forcing us to get all this food yet not wanting to give us what we were asking for. We literally asked for the same thing 5 times but they kept trying to give us something else. The root beer and soy bean milk tasted weird. I had a metal piece in my chicken feet. We will not be going here again.

Dim sum was legit. We had the fried shrimp balls,(excuse my awful spelling) shiu mai, ha cao, Chinese broccoli, water chestnut cake, chicken feet, shrimp with rice paper, and chrysanthemum tea. The service was good, they kept asking us to check out more things LOL. Some of the dim sum kept sticking to the paper on the bottom, thus ripping it, but it’s alright. Everything was pretty tasty. The interior of the restaurant was the cleanest I’ve seen for dim sum, although the chairs and plates could be better. The space is nice for parties. Solid 4⁄5 Btw: I put rock sugar in my tea and it was so good. Thought it sounded super weird at first LOL

This place is freaking delicious. Came here with the kids months ago. They are fast and have everything you would find at the bigger dim sum joints in town. If you want to dine in peace without the big crowds. This is the place. I love it. Ahh dishes are so flavorful. The service could be nicer lol and a bit more attentive but this is a tiny family joint. You’d be asking for too much haha. Will def be back sometime. Kids loved it.

This is the best authentic Chinese restaurants to go to for dim sum, or Chinese food. My family and I go here a lot and they have a variety of dishes to eat. The top dishes(in my opinion) is the duck and pork. If you don’t understand Chinese, just look at the pictures on the menu and the servers will do their best to help you out. Dim sum is also pretty popular during lunch times on Saturday and Sunday. Shrimp dumplings(ha gow) and pork rolls?(Sew Mai) are my personal favorite.

The dim sum here was A-OK. I’ve had great dim sum and I’ve had terrible dim sum. Golden Joy is in the middle because it has a variety of dishes that you can typically expect at a dim sum restaurant, however, some of the a la carte items lacked my preference in flavor. Overall this is a good place to try if anything

Their dim sum was bland as fuck. Especially their pineapple buns which are usually my favorite thing. Ordered a chicken hot pot hoping for veggies too. Just big mushrooms and the chicken was all boney and also very bland. So disappointed. Waitress was also not very nice to me either. She appeared to be friendly to everyone else but me. Very quick, snappy and rude. Oh well, she just lost a good tip from me that’s all.

Was in desperate need of Chinese food for lunch one day and I tried Golden Joy. Ordered sesame chicken, steamed rice and hot and sour soup from the lunch menu. Based on the reviews, I expected better food. Maybe the dim sum is good but the entrée was pretty«blech». The chicken was rubbery and impossible to eat. I was afraid it was undercooked so stuck to plain white rice. The waiter brought egg drop soup instead of hot and sour. Not so good. Returned to work sad and still hungry.

This place doesn’t get as much hype as Kirin Court(competitor) but I’m not sure why. The food is better! Theirs never a wait! And it’s more affordable! Plus they offer items that I love. Like the shark fin dim sum or the bean curd roll. I’ve been here on weekends and weekdays and they serve dim sum daily. Weekends will be pushed in carts. Weekdays are fresh to order. I’ve been coming here for over two years and will continue!

I came for dim sum with some friends. We came around 3 on a Saturday. The food tasted decent but it was cold(probably because we came so late). I liked everything except the soup dumplings. I think the soup soaked into the dumpling skin. We ordered chicken feet, pineapple bun, pork and shrimp dumpling, turnip cake, and cheng fun x 3. Id try it again buy i would come earlier.

Food was great and for the price isn’t bad either. Only bad thing is they have a lot of dim sum option and that makes it harder to order lol. Atmosphere is causal and not to noisy. Everything seems fresh. Had the egg custard dessert and it’s pretty good not overpowering sweet and had that pudding like texture.

This place offers one of the best dimsum in town — in my opinion. It is not as salty as Kirin Court, yet the taste is great. It is also not as crowded as in Kirin Court. The parking is ample. Let me remind that having dimsum here is not about the service, it is about the good food. The waitress may not be that courteous, but they get the job done. If you are expecting high level of service, you will be disappointed.

We came here for dim sum but they didn’t have dim sum cart going around. I think you have to order what you want to eat. We got sweet and sour chicken which wasn’t as great. Everything else was delicious. My favorite one was the seafood fish belly soup. I haven’t seen any restaurants serving it so I had to try it out. The soup dumpling had no soup inside but the filler was good. The price are very decent and their food are good. They can use an improvement on their customer service.

Had a great first experience with Golden Joy #Chinese restaurant. We had family set meal. I couldn’t get a picture of all the good food because we dug in! 好吃!

Though there aren’t too many dim sum locations in the Dallas Fort Worth area, the majority that do exist seem to be located primarily in the more Northeastern part of the city. Golden Joy is a slightly more recent entrant to the game than the other locations and is open later than you’d expect from a typical dim sum restaurant. We had 2 orders of the pork shumai, pretty standard dim sum cuisine. It wasn’t as hot and fresh as it could be(we did arrive a bit after peak hours), but was pretty fair in terms of flavor. That seemed to be the general trend for most of the dishes. The ones we had to order separately(rather than pick from the cart) were guaranteed to be fresh. Our hypothesis was that because Golden Joy wasn’t as popular yet as other locations(such as Kirin Court), there was no wait time to sit down, but that is offset by slightly less fresh food since there aren’t as many people cycling through. I didn’t expect too much out of the dim sum scene in DFW, so Golden Joy provided a pretty fair experience that was more or less what I’d expected. Total price came out to under $ 15 a person, and it was enough to satisfy my dim sum craving.

Preface: This review is for the dimsum and NOT the entrée menu. Food(3⁄5): The Dallas dimsum scene is pretty dismal so I didn’t expect much. With a party of 5, we were immediately seated at 1pm on a Sunday, a feat that is nearly unheard of at Kirin Court. For what it’s worth, the place was pretty empty when our party arrived. The food was just okay. Standard fare for a dimsum place but nothing that stood out to me. Almost everything we ordered was room temperature. I’m not sure if it was our timing(late lunch?) or they didn’t have any fresh batches of food, but the temperature made for a very average meal. On the plus side, the dimsum here is at a lower price point than Kirin or Maxim, so it might be better for the more budget conscious. Service(2⁄5): All I can say is that the waiters may be way too diligent for my taste. I understand that dimsum waiters should push their carts and ask if you’re interested in any of their dishes, but these employees seemed nearly desperate to get rid of any food they had left over. Ladies would bring by random, unsolicited trays to our table, which completely detracted from our lunch. Otherwise, service is pretty average since they weren’t super busy. Atmosphere(4⁄5): Very spacious dining area with nice tables and clean flooring. The place is well-lit and it looked like they are capable of accommodating groups of all sizes based upon the tables they have available. If you’re looking for a place to grab dimsum without a long wait, this is your best bet. Don’t expect super fresh food though since the food tends to sit longer, waiting for customers to show up and finally order it.

This place is right next to my house, and I’m so glad my parents discovered it. It’s kind of a hybrid between First Chinese BBQ and Kirin Court(the dim sum aspect). It’s very authentic Chinese food, and they have the best roast pig(燒豬) that I’ve had in the states. They are definitely understaffed, and you have to be assertive to get service, but nothing too different from most Chinese restaurants. When I come with my family for dinner, we usually order one of the preset meals for 4 people. It comes with 5 courses: a soup, a BBQ meat plate, beef and chinese broccoli, salt and pepper pork chops, and a tofu hot pot. All are delicious. The dim sum is not nearly as busy/crowded as Kirin Court, but I think the quality of the food is comparable. Because it’s not as busy, carts don’t come by as often so you have to chase them down or specially order some dim sum items. Regardless, I’d much rather come here if I’m not in the mood to wait!

We decided to give this place a try after reading some of the reviews on here saying it was just as good or even better than Kirin Court. I’ve been going to Kirin Court since I discovered dim sum 7 years ago and never really strayed anywhere else. But Golden Joy may become our new spot. We came on Saturday afternoon and was seated immediately, after which we were approached by 3 carts. We got most of our dim sum favorites(6 items) within 5 minutes of entering the restaurant. They all tasted pretty good. The only disappointing one was the soup dumplings(xiao long bao). I’m no expert but I think they are suppose to have soup in them. These were bone dry. They also don’t offer the vinegar+ginger dipping sauce. There’s just a bottle of vinegar on the table. I also like the picture menu on the table, makes communicating with them and asking for certain items easier. The service is what you would expect from an asian restaurant. Also, the aunties pushing the carts are very aggressive. Many times they were placing random items on our table saying«oh you like this» or «very tasty, you try». Quite amusing. So just be very adamant when telling them no. And yes like others have said, slightly less expensive than Kirin Court, and no long lines!
