Description

Specialties

The Alderwood Cabin is a unique 1030 square foot vacation rental cabin in the foothills cascade mountain range at the base of Mt Hood. It was originally built in 1945 but has been extensively remodeled and updated. Solid Pine paneling on the walls and ceiling surround the living space in warmth and comfort. The two bedrooms both contain queen beds and closets. The second bedroom also has a writing desk. Windows in every direction give relaxing views of the surrounding forest. There is a high efficiency, easy-to-use cast-iron wood stove imported from Denmark. Firewood is provided. Electric heat is also available in every room. The full kitchen is ready to use and has an oven, dishwasher, coffeemaker, microwave, toaster, and blender. We have a small TV and DVD player, a game room, and an eclectic selection of books. A huge deck in the back is surrounded by forest and is a great place for a picnic. A 5 minute hike from the house leads to the Zig Zag river.

History

Established in 2012.

I bought this cabin in 2012 and fixed it up so I could rent it out. I began renting my other cabin (the Bön Fir Cabin) in 2008 and have hosted many hundreds of guests. I’ve learned a lot from feedback and I try to constantly improve the experience of both cabins.

Business Owner

I was born in Oregon and I like all kinds of outdoor activities. I hike, bike, surf, run, rock climb, ski, fish, raft, and camp. I write and play music. Nothing is better than great friends, great beer, and great food. I live in Portland, Oregon. Other than managing cabins, I work full time as an electrical engineer at Intel designing the worlds most advanced computer chips. I’m involved in several community gardens in NE Portland.
