I’ve been doing business with Universal Radio for the past thirty nine years!
They have a nice showroom, and pitch in for the cause by having a room for classes and meetings. They do on-​site repairs when that is appropriate, and they carry used gear as well as new.
They also carry every book that you would ever want, and the owner is actually the author of some of them.
Finally, they support Cat Welfare… they even have some cats right at the store… One of them will become your favourite!

The people are so nice! I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I knew what I was looking for. They recommended a good handheld radio, and promised to put one aside for me when they came in. (followup: they called yesterday, they have it in stock and did save me one!) Bonus — they have «office cats», one of which is super friendly and welcoming like a little door greeter. 10⁄10 would shop again.

Absolutely love the store. Went to get some new accessories for a very old radio, and they had everything I needed at a fair price.
The staff are very knowledgeable and can help in selecting books, radios and other accessories.
The in-​store experience is much better than the online catalog because the staff can demonstrate features for you, and make sure you are purchasing the proper accessory.

Been going here for almost 25 years now and Columbus is lucky to have this «candy store» in town. Most ham gear is sold via mail order, but this place has a show room with display models of all the current gear, so walk ins are welcome. It is clean, reasonably priced, and has a large selection of used gear too.

Large shop for Amateur Radio and associated items. Being the oldest radio shop gives them some what of an advantaged. Pretty limited hours, the show room is located off the beaten path in an industrial complex in Columbus, Ohio. Expect a some what social atmosphere in the store over customer service.

okay, i went back to them. Ugh. They appeared to have everything i needed for my latest projects, and less expensive than HRO. Two of the 4 items are still on back order, but they do not charge until the product is shipped and they do not charge for the extra shipped needed to send everything as the back ordered items arrive.
