D’s Nails & Spa

I think the poor reviews for D’s are exaggerated. I recently went there and had a great experience. I just moved to the area and was hesitant to get my nails done here because of the bad reviews, but I’m very happy I did. I previously had gotten my nails done at a salon in the mall (got a full set of acrylics) and after only two weeks all of my nails started separating. At D’s, Theresa was my technician and was very warm and welcoming. She showed genuine concern for the poor job another salon did and promised to correct it. She did a fantastic job! I will certainly be returning to D’s for the great service and wonder technicians.

New to Unilocal and figured I’d write a review about this nail salon since I had a bad experience and someone could find it useful.
I went here for a couple months not bc I loved it bc it is in a good location w tons of parking and stores so you can run other errands. Also bc they have opi gel colors which not every place carries. Flaws this place has no customer service! You think your going in to be greeted by a friendly tech and get pampered but they look at you as just a money service. Get you in and get you out. No structure to their workers and environment. They all talk to each other in a language they kno u don’t understand. The owner is always put together in a style you would expect in the beauty business the rest of her workers look like they rolled out of bed. Not sure why she doesn’t enforce a classier dress code. Mayb it’s me but if someone is in the industry where they are trained on nail care then everyone who works there should have their nails and image on point. They will switch techs mid service and not say why just leaving you at the station sitting there not knowing what’s going on. I got a pedicure and had someone doing my toes and someone doing my fingers. I ended up sitting there with my feet in water and the nail dryer on my lap plugged in drying my gel manicure. Way to try and electrocute me. Last straw was when I walked in and some of the techs where sitting on the pedicure chairs w the massage on with no shoes headphone on and eating lunch. Gross! If your looking to get a quick manicure with low expectations then go here but if your like me and want a nail salon to go to every two weeks for a gel manicure this is not the place! Save your money.

this place used to be great and would travel to come here, lately they seem to rush everything gel manicure and pedicure at the same time while holding the drying thing on your lap for your nails. then you end up having 3 people work on you and personally I hate that because you feel like you need to tip all of them which is nuts! And on top of what you already pay its just so outrageous. You should feel relaxed getting pampered not rushed.

I don’t even know where to start from. I wish I had read all these reviews before I go there!
The day of my baby shower and my engagement, on August 30^th I called D’s nails & spa if they had time to do a full set with french manicure and a toe nail color change. I booked the appointment and I went there around 10.30 am.
The lady sat me on the massage chair for the toe nail color change and after she did the full set.
First of all, when she filed my nails to put the acrylic nail on, she did not file them all around the cuticles, so when she put the thick gel coat, she put it on top of the cuticles.
Secondly, she put the acrylic nails totally cricked from my fingers. I know I don’t have the straightest fingers, but how blind can u be to put the nails looking in totally different direction from the finger? When I told her that the nails looked cricked she shut me up by saying she knows what she is doing and she would make them beautiful at the end. OK!
Every time I was telling her how I want my nails to look like at the end she would shut me up. She was rude and I was irritated.
At that point I knew I would be disappointed at the end. My boyfriend was going to put a ring on my finger and I wanted my nails to look perfect. It was not going to happen!
She asked me if I wanted the gel on top of the full set and I first said no. They are so pushy that she asked me again. She said it’s only $ 5 extra and my nails would last 3 weeks. HA! They did not last 3 days!!!
At the end my nails did not look like professionally done. I had gel and white nail polish all around my fingers.
Not to mention she charged me $ 2 more than what the catalog prices were. The manager claimed that $ 2 was for cutting my toe nails when she already had charged me $ 10 for changing the color. She did not let me know there was extra charge for cutting the toe nails and never asked me if that would be ok with me! this is what the manager said :” what? you want that for free?”. No «lady», I pay for whatever I ask but u charge extra without letting the client know about it!
Two days later, since she hadn’t had cut my cuticles before she puts the thick gel coat on and she did not file it right after she put the gel on, the thick gel was coming off around my cuticles. It looked absolutely horrible. One of my nails totally broke. Within 2 days! I wish I had taken pictures before I go and get them re-​done by Lee.
I went to meet the manager, who claims she is the owner, yesterday, September 3^rd. She is the rudest person I have ever met in any business! She said the nails were coming off because I picked them and she knows that because she has 25 years of experience. Well she should also know that there is no way in hell for that glue and gel to come off three days after the nails are done, if they would have done their job right (cut the cuticles and file the nail good at the end).
She re-​did my nails. A cockroach was walking on the table and when i mentioned it she pretended she did not see it and she told me with a rude attitude and being ironic that I must be the cleanest person in the world not to have cockroaches in my house. Ummm, just wondering how come these people are still open! Somebody has to call the health inspection to them, and I will be the one!
When I told her the nail was cricked, she was speaking her own language with another girl there and mentioning things such as nail, finger and straight in English so I understood she was talking about me. I told her I was offended and what she was doing was rude and she asked me if I was speaking Spanish in front of others?! «Lady» I do not speak Spanish! Yeah, she is that smart! She also said that people have freedom of speech. I don’t disagree with that, but if you also have manners, you do not speak any other language in front of your client beside what’s spoken in this country, English! I don’t even think she knows what manners means.
If she had 25 years of experience, my french manicure line wouldn’t look as horrible, there wouldn’t be «wrinkles» on the white french coat, she wouldn’t have made my finger bleed, she would have been more respectful towards her clients, and she wouldn’t be lying.
She lied about putting the gel at the end. When u put gel at the end it dries instantly. My nails were not dry when I left the salon.
So much to read, but trust me, If I had read Dennise’s A. review I wouldn’t have lost my time, money and I would have been much happier now!
Horrible people, especially the manager, and ugly experience! But mostly rude people with a very irritating attitude!
I posted some pictures of my nails today, a day after Lee re-​did them. I wish you could see my nails from the picture the same way as I see the from close!

Never in my life will come here again. Such rude, ridiculous and disrespect.
I called to find out how much was the gel pedicure before I go there and they told me that it was for $ 25.00. I was like wow, such cheap. So I went there. I was little confused because the lady sat me down and said its for manicure. I said «no». It’s for gel pedicure. So all the employees from the store was talking back and forth use their own language that I don’t even understand what they were talking about. So afterward they say me down and start preparing for my service. And employees were changing one after another figuring out who’s should be assisting me. I was like wtf. It took them about 20 mins before they find the right person to help me. The whole process took about more than an hour. Whatever. As she was done, I got up and pay, the lady said «$ 40.00 dollars!!“what… The lady on the phone told me that is only $ 25.00. And then they start yelling to one another in their language again and finally the manager came out. She started to yell at me saying that I asked for manicure price! I was like NO. I had my nail polish on. Why would I ask for that service price! She also said u need to pay. I mean like I’m happy to pay. But you’re giving me the wrong information with such a poor customer service and disrespect. She said she understand English. Oh, okay… They understand English but they do not speak English!!! I’m sorry… I would recommend people go to Aria nail salon in Wakefield MA. They only charged $ 35.00 for gel pedicure with an exceptional service and employees will not be shouting backing forth in their own language! Trust me. This place will never get 5 stars! This place is such rude and awful!!! Manager… I think you need to upgrade your customer service like others. And if you continue to do business like that. I advice you to go home!

I will not be giving them a star. Day before my baby shower a couple of months back. I went there to get my nails done and gel of course. I usually went to the nail salon in somerville (their other location) and I love them there but out of my way now since I don’t work in somerville anymore. But anyway let me get to the chase.
I have tried two women there and they both were awful. Tried to rush my mani and pedi at the same time. (I personally dislike this option) and my gel manicure sucked. I was furious where I had my baby shower the next day couldn’t go back to get them fixed
The gel manicure should not have streaks bubbles and or lines where the white manicure is supposed to be also!!! They should last about 1 – 2 weeks mine didn’t last 4 days.
When I complained the day of the women told me they didn’t see lines I honestly wanted to get a magnifying glass for them ! Was I seeing stuff? So I asked a friend and she saw the same thing. Arg ! The manager (owner) came and looked at them and said they are supposed too look like that! Great now I know that if I want to pay 60 $ for my nails to look like that I’ll just tell my little cousin who probably draws a line better!
Don’t go here worst experience!

Reliable nail salon, I have never had any problems and the salon is always clean. If you are looking to get in and out D’s is a great option!

Been here twice. First time I was not impressed since the lady doing my nails was also stopping my manicure several times to do clients wanting to get waxed. Second time I visited, I asked for a new set and the lady was trying to remove my existing set with the uses of a fake plastic nail to help lift my existing set off. She hurt me as she removed the first nail and on the second nail, she cut me real deep with the fake plastic nail she was using as a lifting tool. My finger bleed a lot and took a week to heal. I left after that. They still charged me.

This was my first American nail-​salon experience. It was very busy since I went there on a Sat. I was able to make an appointment on the same day which was very convenient. I didn’t need to wait when I arrived. I really liked the massage chair, although I needed to figure out how it works. I expected more and better feet massage and much better scabbing. I asked for a French pedicure with a clear pearl finish, but the white part was too wide for me and she didn’t understand my «pearl» color request (she made me try a white nail polish). The price was 45 $, I guess reasonable for a French manicure and pedicure. I would try another place next time.

I’ve been to D’s nail salon a couple of times and I will say that I love it there. I’m not one to pamper myself often, but it’s great as a mother/​daughter spa day. They have very comfortable massage chairs for when you are soaking your feet for a pedicure. I’ve also gone for an underarm wax a few times last summer (I know, TMI), but they have a few privacy rooms in the back for waxing. It’s a really beautiful salon; the service is good, the pricing seems good (like I said, I don’t get pampered too often), and it’s really my go-​to nail salon.
