City Cab

I normally don’t like to write bad reviews, but this one gets it. As many have said, a very unreliable company. I called yesterday evening to have a pick up and the dispatcher said 5 – 10 minutes. Perfect! 15 minutes later there wasn’t a cab in site, so I decided to call for an update. The guy said he was a couple minutes away, which is 2 minutes, no? 10 minutes later, I called to get ANOTHER update. This is my 3^rd phone call to the company… this time she said he was 6 minutes away. Finally, 40 minutes after my initial call, a cab driver shows up. I’m already annoyed, but I will survive. Except not. This cabbie is eating a ridiculously stinky burrito the entire drive. I would like a comfortable drive, not a stinky one. So now I’m annoyed.
Thankfully, he asked me which way I wanted to go and due to my handy phone GPS, I let him know which way was fastest. He did ask if I wanted to use the interstate, which I’m sure if I didn’t know how to get to my destination, would have been taken had I protested.
If you have to use this company, call WAY ahead, expect a false ETA, bring nose plugs, and have directions in mind. However, I would avoid. I will certainly try another company next time and hopefully update this with an alternative recommendation.

I called this cab company for a pickup because I was taken in by the web site, where they claimed to have an advanced computerized dispatch system. Great! After getting a busy signal the first five times I called, I finally got through to someone. I scheduled a pickup in JP. 20 minutes the dispatcher announced. 45 minutes later, I called again. Where’s my cab? They didn’t know, but no problem, they’ll have one in 5 minutes. Twenty minutes later, and no cab, I called back. Where’s my cab, this is my third call. You called three times? Okay, I’ll work it out. WHEN will the cab arrive? We don’t know.
End result, no cab ever appeared. So much for the computerized dispatching system. This company deserves to be out of business.

This morning as I was straightening my hair, running late (as always), and contemplating calling a cab (as almost always), it dawned on me that I should write a review on City Cab, my loyal cab buddy. I’m pretty surprised that this company has such low ratings, as they are generally reliable for me. They’re always super friendly and I never get any bitching and moaning about using a card like I get with other companies (*cough* Boston Cab *cough*).
Now, to give other Unilocalers the benefit of the doubt, this could be because I use them pretty often, but even so, before City Cab became my go-​to, I always had good service — even if I just hailed one on the street.
So, I give City Cab four stars. I’d give them an extra half if half stars existed. …But mostly they get a non-​existant half star downgrade because my driver this morning told me I should «go to school» because I’m currently working a temp job. «Yeah, thanks, I have a master’s degree and I’m working on another, sir.»

I love how your card machines are always out of order. I love how your drivers pretend to know where they’re going and try to take me the long way. I love the way one of your drivers fell asleep at the wheel when he dropped me off once. Oh this is sarcasm.
This cab company sucks. The only reason I would ever use it again is because they seem to have some sort of monopoly on cabs in Boston and the public transit stops running so early. I would avoid this company if possible.

For some reason, I started using top cab/​city cab when I moved to Boston, despite being unhappy with their service. Since then, I have used them multiple times, until today. Never have I been treated as rudely as I was by two operators, even after I spoke to the «manager» of this «service.» Worst cab company in the city, I’d rather walk in a blizzard than use them again.

I called them to request pickup in Medford for sertain time (in 3 hours). They were so rude with me. They didn’t want send me a cab in 3 hours and told me that I have to call them back in 3 hours. They were so, so, so rude like they don’t want my business. Never call them again.

You are the worst relationship I’ve ever had: You stand me up, are late when you do show up, smell funny, ignore me to yammer endlessly into your bluetooth headset, and treat me like an inconvenience when I try and get a word in edgewise. But you’ll still take my money!
You are cruel City Cab, at times even abusive, but the honeymoon is over. But I have to admit I do enjoy flagging down taxis and having you roll by so I can shoo you away.
Because I’d rather WAIT or WALK then suffer you anymore.

I called them to request pickup in Brighton. I gave the dispatch woman my name, cell phone number, and address at her request. She told me someone would be on their way shortly.
After waiting outside for half an hour (with my cell phone on) and having seen at least three of their cabs pass the intersection where I was waiting, I called back to follow up. The dispatch woman replied,
«there are no cars in your area.»
When I asked (in a more respectful manner than was deserved) what was up with telling me otherwise half an hour earlier, and she asked if they had my phone number. After I replied that they did, she hung up on me!
This was my first and last experience with them.
