Had a reall bad experience searching for insulation and installation products for in the Reston Home Depot. it took forever to find stuff in here, they didn’t have a good selection, the store is disorganized and it took about 30 minutes until a buildings product person could be found. I will never go to this store again. My Alexandria Home Depot is much better.

I had a very poor customer service experience.
I asked a male employee in the «Tools» section if there were any screws left in stock that were not on display, and showed him that the Home Depot App indicated there were 2 packs left in stock.
He replied «Oh, if it’s not over 2, it’s not worth checking». The employee did not check if the product was in the back and literally just walked away.
The employee was very unprofessional and acted like the whole interaction was an inconvenience for him. Why work there then?
I left and went out of my way to go to a different Home Depot where they helped me no problem.

I don’t normally go to this Home Depot but if I’m out and about in this area I will stop in if I need some home improvement stuff which seems to be a regular thing for me lately. Overall I’d give this location 3.5 stars. I know ½ star off because I swear the parking spaces in this lot are quite narrow, and I do pride myself of staying well within the lines of parking.
Because of this location it does get pretty busy in here and the set up is quite different to the one in Sterling so just be prepared to do a bit more looking for stuff. We came fairly early on a Sunday morning which actually made it the perfect time since it was really not too busy at all, getting in/​out is was fairly painless. We were able to find staff to that were ready and willing to help us too.
Also depending on what direction you’re coming from getting in/​out can be a bit tricky. If you’re coming down Reston Parkway (where you pass Reston Town Center), you have to go up past the Home Depot and loop around the back of the store to get into the lot. The shopping center where the HD is also has a few other places close by so if you’re running errands that does make it particularly convenient if you need to do other things.

I’m not sure if this counts as store feedback or not, but I just had a great customer service experience and thought I would share! I placed the call to your 800# with a sense of dread, anticipating an eventual connection with someone in a far away land who would likely have little ability to help me. I was thrilled to speak with a very polite, friendly, and helpfull American who was able to figure out why I hadn’t received my online order and offer ship a replacement for me! She even placed the order for me to make sure nothing went wrong! Thank you to everyone involved, from the Corporate Director who decided to keep your customer service in America, to the representative who took the call and was trained and empowered to make great decisions for great outcomes. You’ve just made a customer for life!

Good location, no problems. Some locations have the old-​fashioned key cutting machines but this one has a laser-​guided system which works much better. Friendly staff and never gets too busy.

This post is for the Key making service at this Home Depot. Don’t go there to get your keys made. They make the worst keys. I’ve had 2 or 3 keys made at a time and maybe 1 of those keys may work.
Then you have to deal with waiting in line to return the keys to get your money back.
I do go to this Home Depot for my other home service needs. To get around the store easier, get the Home Depot app! It will tell you the exact location of where the product you’re trying to find is.
Also, there is a locksmith store in that shopping center. It’s going to much better for you to go there to make keys. They do have unusual hours, so I would suggest calling them before going.

Update: They responded and ordered more shovels when we got a very late snow storm. While I was without one for several snows, it’s always great when a business listens to their customers and responds!

Waited 45 minutes for someone to get a forklift to get a product off of the high shelving, then left, as I might as well order it on Amazon instead of waiting forwever. Did not find helpful staff with my experience.

Absolutely insane in here on weekends and usually have to ask a few people to get an answer. Well, the right answer or product you are looking for but what I like is if they aren’t sure they ask another to get the answer for you.
P. S. Will you please order enough snow shovels and scrapers? I hate to break this news to you but unfortunately we live in a state where winter comes annually. Although we don’t get snow storms like Boston, New York or other states, but we do get some snow and I just don’t understand why you never have enough of snow shovel or scrapers every year and selling me the dreams as if you are re-​stocking them! I should just make my own snow shovel.

We ordered and paid for a carpet three weeks ago. They repeatedly promised to install it, but then every time we’d get a call from the installer saying «the carpet did not arrive». (This is a Home Depot problem, not an installer problem.)
We still don’t have our carpet. I cannot recommend buying carpet from them.

Really large selection. They seem to carry a better variety than other Home Depots.

What makes this Home Depot substandard to other stores are two factors: location and customer service; obviously two extremely important factors in the retail business.
The parking lot here is horrible. A Home Depot really needs its own parking lot, not a shared lot with a whole bunch of retail stores. Lots of people zipping around and others trying to load boards, sheet rock, and other large/​heavy items is a recipe for disaster. A word of advice — there are a dozen or so parking spots on the side of the store (closest to the garden area). No one hardly parks here.
The customer service also leaves A LOT to be desired. I can never find an associate available, even though there are plenty of them. When I finally get an associate it’s hit and miss as to whether they can answer the question correctly (and these are questions like «do you sell plexiglass, you know… real brain teasers) They have self-​check out here, so that’s good.
Overall, it’s near my house and this store meets my needs, but I’ve experienced waaaaaay better Home Depots in life.

Love it one day (great people) — then I flip to hating it (low inventory)! The great side of this store is that the people the hire are great with customer service! So just as you get used to the people — then for some reason, the change all the staff and it’s a bunch of newbies again. I wonder if this a a trainee store?
I hate this store because is so small that they often run out of basic stuff. I have to often go to Sterling to get things…
But managment, customer service, pro-​desk, each department is really great.
Note — if you ever feel this place is bad, try going the Lowes. Then you’ll see, you’ll be back with a smile.

This Home Depot Store is a super wonderful
And friendly shop to get whatever you need for your home and yard. It currently occupies the same site once occupied by Memco, Bradlees and Hechingers. The large sales staff go out of their way to help you out in your quest.

Great store, although not the largest they do the most business of area stores. Managers and regular employees know the store. Many familiar faces are helpful like Hassan in plumbing he knows his stuff. The return staff, cashiers & pros desk staff are alert and jump to help people. Lots of familiar faces tells me there isn’t much turn over because the employees are likely well treated & enjoy their management & work.
I’ve been doing work in Maryland and feel that I’m cheating on my store in Reston where the service is awesome. The MD stores employees are ½ asleep. And there are constant alarms /​beeping when an employee is looking at something worth more than $ 20. The Fairfax store is beside the dump and has a potential to get more of my business but those cashiers are asleep on the job too.
Back to Reston — with the Home Depot card the system is set up to email a receipt copy. All stores don’t have that set up.
Additionally when I’m home only mobile Home Depot application, I can find the item I need, see the location within the store, see how many are left, then create a cart to save for my next visit.
For some reason there is no candy crap and food in the store. I’m fine with that. Years ago there was some candy in the front. I don’t miss it.

There are several things wrong with this specific store.
Here are a few to name:
— It’s poorly stocked (when things sell out they won’t be there even several days later)
— Price tags missing everywhere (It drove me crazy the few times I’ve been there. I didn’t buy a few things on my list because there were no price tags and no employee in sight).
— Staff lacks in knowledge and information (nobody ever knows what is where and they will send you back and forth without helping you out. If they can’t figure it out, they will just look at you and shrug their shoulders).
I’ve had several situations there — I can’t believe I kept going back to this place (that probably was because it’s down the street from my house).
One time, I came to find a certain bathroom cabinet (which was sold out at that time, but I didn’t know).
I asked two ladies (staff) where I could find that item — both looked at the picture I had on my phone, including the item number (!!!), then shrugged their shoulders and said exactly this: «I don’t know, I have never seen this one», and then walked off. Both ladies said that — unbelieveable, right?
I felt as I was bothering everyone in there and since nobody cared to help me, I just left.
I also used to buy my wall paint at Home Depot. Both times they guy mixed too much of the color (for the sqft. I had to paint), and I ended up with half full buckets from each color.
This is so so frustrating!
I’m big into DIY projects — but I won’t be going there anymore.
I’ll be going to Lowes from now on even that it means I have to drive 10 minutes longer.

Like every Home Depot, this one is hit or miss. If you know what you’re looking for, it’s a hit because they always have great stock. If you want to ask a question to a salesperson it can go either way, especially on a weekend. Some associates are a wealth of information while others just need a job. Particularly the guy in the lighting dept and staff in the lumber dept are great.
The reason I give 4 stars is because the store lives up to my realistic expectations; in other words I know Bob Vila isn’t going to magically appear and finish my project. The store is organized and clean.

Finally, I had an experience that made it worthwhile to update my old review. Today a Home Depot employee knew his products so well he was able to guide me so I could go home and complete a home project interrupted by my own inexperience.
I had begun an upholstery project that seemed simple. Cut new fabric, wrap it around my existing seat cushions and power staple! When I tried to execute, my power stapler (which I rarely use) was so stiff it took exceptional strength to operate. On top of that, I suspected I’d purchased the wrong staples because I was having trouble refilling the supply cartridge.
Off I drove to Home Depot not sure anyone but an upholsterer would be able to help me. Raqueed explained how to oil the stapler to reduce the strength needed to release the spring action and he showed me why I was having a tough time adding new staples. What a patient, knowledgeable employee! I was genuinely impressed.
Picked up a couple humidifier pads for next winter and was on my way in a few minutes. That’s the kind of service I expect from any hardware store. I was really happy to experience it today while noticing the first hints of retail spring: Insect control products, seed packets and fresh houseplants.

I wasn’t looking for any specific kind of help, I just needed some paint and light bulbs. I did have one small question about getting a key copied and was faced with grumpiness. I got an answer, but it was given with a good amount of vinegar.
