Our specially trained opticians use your face shape, skin tone, and individual style to help you choose your most flattering eyewear look. We realize that good vision comes first, so we offer the latest in lens material and design technology to accurately fill your prescription for the sharpest vision possible. Our optometrists are ready to evaluate your ocular health and determine the best prescription for your eyes. We also offer contact lenses fittings and LASIK evaluations.

Established in 2008.

The Eyewear Gallery at Reston Town Center, is owned and operated by Optometrist, Dr. Dawn Devaney Gammon or, «Dr. Dawn,» as she is affectionately known to her staff and patients. Dr. Dawn quickly adopted the philosophy, «Like a fine work of art, every face deserves a fabulous frame.» This is why The Eyewear Gallery offers the most unique selections of frames, from around the world, right in Northern Virginia. Dr. Dawn Devaney Gammon graduated with high honors from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in North Miami Beach, Florida. She completed her residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center/Southwestern Blind Rehabilitation Center in Tucson, Arizona. She is licensed to treat and manage ocular conditions using therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and is also experienced with all types of contact lenses and refractive surgery co-management. She has been a successful LASIK patient herself for over ten years.

Dr. Dawn was recognized as a Top Optometrist in Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Optometrists in the 2014, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2006 – 2007, 2004 – 2005 and 2002 – 2003 editions. She loves working with people and is fully dedicated to taking the time and energy to meet the needs of each patient.

In her spare time, Dr. Dawn enjoys west coast swing and country-western dancing, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

I work in Reston and eyewear gallery was recommended by my coworker. Since my prescription expired, it is time to get my eyes checked. I made an appointment on the phone and the entire process went smoothly.
I came on Saturday to have eye exam, mainly for contact lens.
It is not a big place but very comfortable. They have a lot of frames catering different tastes. If you are looking for nice and trendy frames, this is the place you should come albeit a little pricier.
Dr. Stumer did my exam. He is very patient, friendly, informative and thorough. He took his time to go through the check and made sure my vision was clear after the adjustment. I also had a few questions regarding lasik surgery and he explained it to me in details and offered his own personal experience and recommendation.
I ordered one year supply of contact lens here and they will ship it to you. I also scheduled a follow up for eye dilation.
My friends come here to see Dr. Dawn. According to them, she is also great. Eyewear gallery will become my go to place in the future.

I recently purchased my first pair of glasses from the Eyewear Gallery. I didn’t get my exam there, so couldn’t give 5 stars since I didn’t experience that portion. My experience was very pleasant; although, they were unbelievably busy on a Saturday. I waited patiently and they were more than helpful when it was my turn. I have to agree with some other reviewers that the cost of a pair of glasses is much higher that at other «everyday» places. I had a small heart attack when I heard the price but so glad I got them. They are definitely the best glasses I’ve every purchased. I love having glasses that no one else has and these are so much clearer than any other pair I’ve owned. Also, the UV coating is applied differently than at other places. I always hate getting that because glasses are so difficult to clean and always streak so bad. These are no problem at all. Very pleased with them and plan to go back for a second pair.

Made an appointment for an eye exam because increasingly I could tell that all my computer usage was reducing the effectiveness of my old prescription. Dr. Gammon has new equipment so exams are more accurate than ever.
She determined that the vision in one eye had actually improved, while the other needed a stronger Rx. In their optical selections studio it’s easy to pick out new frames, but this time I just ordered replacement lenses for my favorites which they gladly adjust when needed. No problem, the replacement lenses arrived in a week’s time. I could tell the prescription was accurate within an hour of wearing them.
This is not an inexpensive place to buy glasses, but precision prescription fulfillment and ongoing service is what I value most. For me, the visual improvement was obvious, my eyes were no longer tired after a few hours’ work. It only took one day before they felt completely natural.

I’ve been to Eyewear Gallery twice several years apart for prescription glasses. Dr Dawn is very nice and friendly. My most recent visit this year was very satisfying and I was glad to see the Eyewear Gallery had not had any decline in the many years since my last visit. I came in for an eye exam with my husband. The doctor and eye exam was pleasant, but the guy in the front handling frames and insurance/payment was the opposite. He made us wait 30 min after the exam to «check out» so he can take care of people who wanted their frames fixed. All we had to do is pay and leave, but he ignored us as we patiently waited for him to acknowledge us. I was growing impatient and nearly walked out without paying. I decided not to give them any more of my money and cancelled by contacts order with them and I will never go back. Don’t waste your time of money at this place. If you’re not white they won’t treat you with any dignity or respect.

I didn’t even come here based on my experience calling to ask for information. I wanted to know pricing for exams and the woman I spoke to was very condescending and rude. I should have told her at the time that I wouldn’t be coming there based on her attitude towards me. I definitely don’t frequent places that treat customers poorly.

The sales person had too much coffee and her hands were shaking when taking my measurements for lens on the new glasses, it is off when I got them. Went back to complain about the lens and they just said it the frames … NOT! For paying $ 1300 for prescription glasses, they should have better service!

I got a preliminary exam for contacts here and everything went fine. I didn’t look closely at my bill when I paid though.
I later noticed there was no explanation of how much was billed to my insurance on the recept and called to verify it had been billed correctly.
The guy I talked to on the phone was extremely condescending and told me my insurance had been billed the «appropriate amount». When I asked if I could get a printout that listed the total charges and how much had been billed to insurance he responded with with «we don’t really have that information.» I wonder how they keep their books without knowing how much they bill to whom.
There’s a reason that information is the default on every other medical and optometrists bill I’ve ever received — if I can see the numbers I can verify I wasn’t over charged and that they didn’t bill my insurance for services they didn’t perform. I can’t think of any non sleazy reasons to hide that information when a customer asks for it.
The billing sleaziness is irritation enough for me never to do business with them again. It was the bonus condescending attitude and rudeness that motivated me to leave this review.

I had been meaning to get my crooked glasses fixed for months. It was a vintage pair made in Germany and I was a little worried about handling. I went to TEG on a whim without an appointment and Cameron Harlow immediately assisted me and fixed my glasses within minutes. He was so pleasant and helpful! And when I asked what the cost was, he said it was absolutely free. This may be standard at other places too but I was very happy with the friendliness and customer service. I made an appointment for The Eyewear Gallery based on the reviews here. I had filled out my info on their web-site and indicated that I was military and using Tri-Care. I arrived at the appointment, was greeted and told them I had an appointment, the guy (he didn’t introduce himself) asked if I’d filled out their history and insurance forms, I told him I had on-line and that I was military and had Tri-Care. He came across as confused by that and stated they didn’t take Tri-Care. He asked if I had some other insurance companies they regularly take, and I re-stated that I was in the Military and that Tri-Care is our insurance, he re-stated they don’t take Tri-Care and I got up and walked out. I walked out, and they get one star because there was no sense of customer service… NONE, ZERO… it was like I pulled up to a Taco Bell and ordered a Big Mac… I mean c’mon, at least talk to me and ask me what I’m looking for, and make an offer on what your services are… something besides the zero service I got here.

My husband recommended this optometrist to me. I had an appointment in February 2013 with a goal of getting a pair of glasses I liked and was comfortable wearing for long periods of time. Historically, I would only wear my glasses after getting home from work to let my eyes rest from my contacts. Eyewear Gallery’s staff helped me pick a great pair of glasses! They directed me to a different style, one that I never would have considered on my own, and the choice was the right one. After 6 months with them, I like wearing my new glasses more and more, and even choose to wear them to work, which never happened before. I also have gotten numerous compliments on them. Dr. Gammon was also excellent.

My wife has been a customer of Dr. Gammon for a few years and was always telling me to go in for myself and my son. I finally listened and she was 100% correct. Dr. Gammon examined myself and my son which I was hesitant because my son is painfully shy. She made him feel comfortable and gave him a complete exam with no problems. Amazingly thorough! Dr. Gammon is amazing at what she does and really takes her time with you. She answers all your questions, and if she doesn’t know, she’ll be honest and look into it.
The staff at Eyewear Gallery are equally amazing! They all are experienced which really makes it well worth it and unlike those run of the mill eye doc places, these cats actually care. I had a pair of glasses made which weren’t what I thought, and they promptly made everything right, no questions aside from ‘what’s bothering you about them most.‘

I spoke with Dr. Gammon a few weeks ago on the telephone and I want to clarify a few comments and facts:
Regarding Dr. Gammon’s statement, «On your original purchase from our practice, you were given a 20% military discount ($ 180 in your case), which is our customary policy for all military members and veterans.»
This is not true — I was actually given an Out of Network Ins. Discount of $ 156, not a military discount, since The Eyewear Gallery was unaware of my military status at the time I made my inquiry.
Dr. Gammon’s statement, «There are numerous internet sites to buy glasses. Unlike buying clothes online, where the worst that can happen is a poor fit, glasses made incorrectly may cause permanent consequences (i.e. car accident or injury from a fall) and providing a measurement to an unknown outside source puts us in the chain of liability.»
Though I agree there could be issues of liability, should an internet provider make an error, my experience buying glasses online has been favorable. Dr. Gammon provided me with my RX after I provided her with a signed liability release form.
Regarding Dr. Gammon’s statement, «As far as Wiley X is concerned, our dealer agreement with them prohibits us from discounting their product to anyone. Doing so is considered a breach of contract and we can lose our dealership status if we offer and advertise any discounts.»
Yes, this probably true, and is why I asked for my RX so I could order directly from the Military Exchange retailer after The Eyewear Gallery said they could not match the Military Exchange price.
In closing, I recently received my pair of prescription Wiley X XL-1’s from the Exchange for less than half the price it would have cost me at The Eyewear Gallery. The fit is great, the prescription spot on! :-)
The Eyewear Gallery is a boutique shop, delivering first class service and products. However, the service and quality products come with a high price. The saying «you get what you pay for» has merit here, however I question the over-all «value» since a pair of prescription glasses at The Eyewear Gallery will probably cost you double if not triple the price of pair of similar eye glasses at Costco that will do the job satisfactorily. If you have deep pockets and want absolutely the best glasses that technology can buy, then by all means consider The Eyewear Gallery, you won’t be disappointed.
Three Stars. Dr. Gammon reached out to me and I got what I wanted in the end… however the overall experience could have been handled a little better by asking a few questions about the customer and presenting options versus the «it is what it is mindset», at least for this particular transaction. Hopefully my next experience with The Eyewear Gallery will be much improved.

This place is as good as it gets.
I’m not easily impressed, and have only passed out one 5 star review before now. But that’s how great I think this place is. Dr. Gammon is phenomenal, I’ve never been so impressed with an eye doctor before in my life. She uses cutting edge equipment, and will genuinely look out for you.
I feel kind of bad, I told her last time I came in that I was so impressed I would write a Unilocal review (unprompted), I thought I did… but I just looked to write an update and I guess I never actually got around to typing one up.
I won’t bore you with a long review, but as long as Dr Gammon is there, this place will be my Optometrist/Eye wear go-to spot for life.

OK, I’ll say it… I can be a difficult patient. Eye doctors ask me to read the letters, they all look blurry, and what do you do? Guess? Not if the practice measures throughput by number of patients seen and not by patient satisfaction.
Then about 18 months ago I discovered The Eyewear Gallery and Dr. Gammon. Let me tell you, I’m glad I did. Mega-outfits like Hour Eyes may be convenient, but they really lack the personal touch. You feel more like an item on an assembly line than a human being.
In fact, just two weeks ago I went in for a regular exam, new glasses, and new contacts. Dr. Gammon was beyond patient with me and, I think, really went the extra mile. She picked up the beginnings of an eye infection that she confirmed today in a follow up. I really doubt a high-volume practice would have bothered. She is a good doctor and I have no problem bringing my family to see her.
The expertise doesn’t end with Dr. Gammon. The staff is also incredible. I know nothing about frames, what to look for, what looks good… NOTHING. Both Cameron (last year) and Rachel (this year) were incredibly helpful and patient with me. Two weeks ago Rachel patiently helped me look through frames that would be flattering and stylish. I couldn’t be happier with what she helped me pick out.
Lastly, contacts are easy here. I had my contacts order two days after I walked out of the door.
If you are looking for great care with a very personalized touch, definitely give Dr. Gammon and The Eyewear Gallery a call. You won’t be sorry.

Needed to see an eye Dr, for a new pair of glasses. then found a killer dealfind deal in my in box. Called a few times to ask questions as Reston is not that close to DC. Cameron could not have been more polite or helpful. Answered my questions and addressed my concerns. Once I set the appointment and made my way out to the appt. Both Cameron and Charlie were friendly and helpful, After a few minutes Dr. Gammon walked in to get me for the appointment. She was very friendly and put me at ease right away, She not only checked my eyes for the new glasses prescription but gave me a contact eye check up to and gave me a pair of newer lenses to try out. I had been using 1800contacts and they never even asked how long it had been since I had actually gone for an appointment. less than a week later the office called and my glasses were ready for pick up,
They really could not have been nicer or more professional. Well worth the drive and time to get there. THANK YOU,
