Rave Movie Theater Reston 13

This movie theater has change ownership 2 times since National Amusements backed out of the Virginia market and sold it off due to financial troubles. It started out as the Reston Multiplex 13, then in 2009 was sold to Rave Motion Pictures, who obviously realized they bought a dated theater and then sold shortly thereafter to its present owner — Bow Tie Cinemas. Now Bow Tie’s website CLAIMS that this theater is to be renovated soon, well lets hope for their sake this happens sooner rather than later as this theater is no where near competitive with ANY of the other theaters in the entire metro area.
The ticket prices are astronomical as well as the concession prices, thats saying a lot considering movie/​concession prices at other more elegant theaters are just as high or maybe a tad less.
I’m guessing the prices are way up there because lets face it, Reston Town Center is an in demand commercial property, with business fighting for a spot and the lease rate has to be through the roof with companies like Accenture and Google having offices less than a block from the shops/​restaurants.
Most of the theater has a musty smell to it, the floors in all the theaters are sticky with soda and God knows what residue, the seating is what you’d expect on a school buss, no stadium seating or signs any of the theater rooms are undergoing a remodeling.
The bathrooms are probably worse off than you’d expect, runny and wet facilities to say the least with various stains from yester year evident.
Serious, go there if your drunk and can’t drive or walk to a bus stop because then you might not notice the horrid conditions.
Otherwise flee to Worldgate in Herndon, or further to Regal Fox Cinemas Brambleton or Rave Cinema Delux in Fairfax Corner.
To the management of Bow Tie, renovate now, or just close up shop and concede defeat.

great place to see a movie. My friends and I have been to see movies at the location since it First opened 21 years ago.

Echoing other Unilocalers reviews on this place. One perk: no waiting or ticket lines– the theater seemed empty even on a Friday night. Seats were short though and not too comfortable. During The Black Swan, I heard way too many loud explosions and sound effects coming from Tron playing next door.

Updated review Dec. 28: If I could give this place no stars I would. There is no longer any redeeming qualities to this theater. They got rid of Cheap Tuesday.
The line to get tickets tonight was incredibly slow, when I got popcorn the kid couldn’t seem to get it right (popcorn, no butter please), the theater next door had tons of loud booming when my movie was fairly quiet. At the beginning of the movie the sound went out, then it was way too loud and when a woman asked about it at the upstairs concession stand she was told to go complain to someone downstairs. Great customer service. We’re going to make you miss your movie because we don’t feel like telling the manager ourselves, you go do it.
I’ve finally had it with this theater. Hopefully they clean up their act soon because there are so many better theaters nearby that charge similar prices. I won’t be back until they do. Till then you’ll find me at the Regal in Countryside.

Original review Dec. 16: We only come here on Cheap Tuesdays when movie tickets are $ 6. The theaters are small, really old, not in good shape and it’s quite costly compared to the decent seats and theater experience you can get at other theaters nearby for the same price. Also, yeah, there can sometimes be a huge number of teens there. If it weren’t for Cheap Tuesdays I’d give this place one star and never go back.

This theater is horribly small, overpriced and riddled with noisy preteens on a Saturday night. Also there is no cup holders!
