Pitango Gelato

The affogato is the most delicious dessert I have ever had! I had the vanilla with the hot chocolate and the hot chocolate is just melted chocolate and it’s incredibly rich. It’s a great date spot, super cozy and they have free wifi. I would totally recommend it to a friend!

They serve the best frozen treat (to include other gelato brands, frozen yogurt and ice cream) that I’ve ever had; better than Ben and Jerry’s, and far better than anything store bought. The pistachio and cardamom flavors are particularly delicious.

Can’t comment about the gelato because I have not tried it. I come here for the hot chocolate. It is the best I have tried. Ever. Fair warning — this hot chocolate is thick and very strong. Also, absolutely delicious.

This place is very cute and located in the Reston Town Center. But the gelato was very disappointing. I tasted several flavors but none were good enough to buy a cup
. Store bought is better.
My friend got three flavors: banana, espresso and crema. He didn’t like it.
My other friend ordered an Affogato, hot chocolate over gelato. She said it was «okay, nothing to write home about». How can you mess that up so its only ok? There were also several gnats flying around…

I want to begin by saying that I am a self proclaimed gelato snob. I recently spent over a month in Italy and had gelato every day, and I am not going to settle for meh gelato anymore! Before I went to Italy, Pitango was my favorite gelato place to go to, and after going to Italy, Pitango is still my favorite.
So the trick to telling if a place’s gelato is good is to taste their pistachio and their crema (which isn’t that commonplace to find in the US). First of all, Pitango actually has the crema flavor, so that is a signal alone. Aside from just what they have, their crema is GOOD. But what is even better? THE PISTACHIO. I am obsessed with their pistachio. The consistency is perfect and the flavor is just right. Since I love their pistachio so much, I find it difficult to try other flavors, but alas I often force myself to do so. I have tasted their coconut, almond, and black tea (their flavors get changed every day or week, I’m not sure, but they’re always changing every time I go). They are all good. :’)
Their gelato is not the cheapest, but it is on par with prices you’d find at other places (and in Italy), so I’m okay with paying the steep price for such quality gelato. Seriously everyone, please do yourself a favor and don’t settle for bad gelato anymore! Pitango only!
My only wish for this place is for them to open up a location in Northern California. Please. :P

This place is the best gelato I’ve ever had! Tabitha was amazing, she was super knowledgeable and let us try as many flavors as we wanted. Highly recommend stopping in here. I got the affogato and it was incredible

I’ve been here twice. The first time I got a hazelnut affagato, and the second time I just got a latte. The affagato was outstanding! The latte was good as well. My husband got the mango gelato and said it was delicious. We enjoyed sitting at the bar stools by the window and seeing the view outside.

You gotta try the cardamom vanilla! I usually come here for coffee. Nice cosy place to read my book and people watch.

what keeps me coming back? One word: Afagato.
I get either the gianduja espresso afagato or the chocolate hazelnut espresso afagato. To.die.for.
The flourless chocolate cookies they have at the front are also very good.
But seriously,…try the afagato. the coffee here makes starbucks taste like mcdonalds coffee.

Yum! Chocolate hazel nut aka nutella flavor gelato! This is a cute little spot in the Reston Town Center. Very classy, they have espresso too and you can get the espresso on gelato wooowww. Great job.

Gelatoooo! A special treat to my taste buds. Unlike most parlor, this place really isn’t so bad. They offered a variety of flavors and sorbet flavors. I ordered the cardamom– taste like spiced chai and crema– sweet cream lemon zest… unusual pair but then again I never mix my frozen dessert. My roommate wanted to have a sorbet– mojito and gelato-​chocolate hazelnut. They were both common and popular. Highly recommend their sorbet versus the gelato.
The prices are fair for the amount given. Overall, nice staff and clean parlor.

I really enjoy the flavors as well as the consistency and texture of the gelato. I also love that they have a variety of flavors that can satisfy whatever your sweet tooth might be craving. From pistachio to hazelnut to raspberry, there are both delicious (and interesting) decadent and fruity flavors to choose from!
With the regular size, you can order up to two flavors. However, you can sample more! I ordered the mango sorbet and the café espresso. The mango was tart and refreshing, but I especially liked the espresso. Be careful though, the taste is pretty strong! My boyfriend is usually not a fan of strong coffee flavors, but he still enjoyed it a lot.
Some people might think it’s pricey, but I’m okay with it.
Next time (and there will definitely be a next time), I’ll have to try the affogato!

Dessert? Don’t even need to ask me twice. Came here after dinner and ordered a regular cup of Pistachio and Chocolate Hazelnut. The gelato itself is very rich and creamy, you can really taste the two different kinds of nuts. They also let you sample the flavors (THEY HAVE A MOJITO FLAVORED GELATO!!). Calling all dessert lovers, recommend checking this place out!

Amaaaazing gelato! While ice cream reigns supreme in my book, I must say that their gelato is one of the best in the area. With an assortment of flavors ranging from decadent to fruity, it could satisfy even the pickiest of taste buds.
I sampled the black tea, crema, cardamom, and chocolate hazelnut. The flavors are very bold and prominent, you can tell that they really take their time on their mixing process. I ended up going with the chocolate hazelnut+black tea. It was an excellent combination and the texture was super smooth/​creamy. Also, they are very generous with the scoops! Some gelato places are a bit stingy, but not here. There is plenty of seating at this location, it was nice to sit out on a Saturday night and unwind while enjoying dessert. They also serve coffee and other drinks.
Definitely worth a visit if you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Came during a weekday lunch hour, so the place was not busy. I tried the pomegranate, coconut, café espresso, and hazelnut. The pomegranate was refreshing, and the café espresso had that kick of coffee that was nice. My favorite was Coconut. Reminded me of the coconut ice cream that I so enjoyed in Thailand. Creamy and delicious!
The atmosphere was laid back. We got to sit outside under the umbrella stand while people watching.
The reason why it is 4 stars because of the price. Over $ 5 is a bit overpriced.

I looooove love love Pitango, but it’s just so MIND-​BOGGLINGLY EXPENSIVE (hence 4 stars). And yet, I find myself coming back for more again and again. And again. I always use a credit card so I don’t feel how light my wallet becomes after eating here!!! Just kidding. Sort of.
My recent favorite flavor is cardamom; not sure if I never noticed it before or if I wasn’t adventurous enough to try it, but now I have and it is deeeeelicious! SO aromatic. I get it by itself or in an affogato (which I drink in two seconds and then look down and wonder how I drank $ 5 in two seconds).
I also noticed that they changed the orange dark chocolate flavor (which was my go-​to) to a sorbet? I haven’t tried it yet but I’m pretty sure it should’ve stayed as a gelato. I’ve also had the rhubarb sorbet which is good for the first two bites and then afterward, you find something is… lacking. It’s not really full-​bodied and it just gets more thin and tart as you eat it, if that makes sense. It’s pretty cool that they change their menu up every so often, though – rhubarb was definitely not here a year ago.
Honestly, they could definitely reduce everything on the menu by $ 2 and they’d be fine. But I will continue to weep into my $ 5 affogato…

I enjoy Pitango.
It may not be my ultimate fave gelato spot but I’m glad it’s conveniently located in Reston Town Center. It’s great to drop by for some dessert after watching movies or grabbing dinner around the area. Employees are always very sweet and helpful here. They have a variety of flavors, which is nice. The consistency of their gelato could be smoother and lighter. As well as, the flavors could be a bit stronger. It’s not bad at all though. My favorite flavors are Cardamom and Black Tea, very well done!
If you find yourself in the area, Pitango is a nice place to visit.

I have a huge sweet tooth and have been to many gelato places in our area as well as while traveling and this is by far the best one I have been to. They have a wide assortment of unique and basic flavors and they are so friendly about letting you sample a ton of the before making your choice (s). The texture of their gelato is on point — not too creamy like ice cream and not too thick like custard — it is just perfect.
My favorites are: Hazelnut, Pistachio & Coconut Chocolate Chip
Though this place is a bit pricier than other gelato establishments, I do think it is worth it for the quality that you get. The interior is a bit small so I suggest trying to snag one of their few tables or bar stools during off peak times. Otherwise come in on a nice day and sit at one of the outdoor benches around RTC

Came to check out this place on a very cold winters day. We ordered two sipping chocolates with steamed milk. It was pretty tasty, but honestly not the best hot chocolate I have ever had and I probably wouldn’t order it again. The price for the hot chocolate was pretty standard in my opinion, about what I would pay anywhere else. The place was cute clean and cozy. I can’t wait to come back and try gelato once it warms up.
