Northgate Condominium Management Office

Due to a job change my husband and I will be moving to LA soon. We will be sorry to leave Northgate behind. The rent is reasonable, the rooms are spacious, the neighbors are nice, the landscaping is nature and the location is very convenient.
We will be happy to find a condo as nice in LA.

I have been a landlord here since 2009 and own 4 condo’s. I own over 20 rentals in various developments. This is by far the best run community. Sandy is always responsive and friendly. Maintenance issues are timely resolved; often the same day. My niece also owns in Northgate. I find it hard to take at face value the complaints registered here on Unilocal.I imagine that there must be a «back story». My tenants (some of 5 yrs) are very happy here — obviously as they keep renewing their leases. I have heard not one complaint from any of them.

Rude, ineffective, inpatient, DIRTY management office. Never leaves a requested guest pass. «Sandy» needs to be retired because she lacks any knowledge of how to run a professional office. Lacking in compassion or any ability to meet resident’s needs. Refuses to establish internet presence to allow residents to get information about the «laws.» I don’t think she understands the difference between a law and a covenant. This complex was built in the ‘70s and the management shows it. Did I mention the two BIG dogs with very little training in the office?. She may need them because of all of the residents she has PISSED OFF.

I would give negative reviews to the management office but Unilocal doesn’t give me that option. The management office is rude and unprofessional. Sandra Warren from the management office wrote a letter to my landlord telling her to cancel my lease because one grumpy old neighbor who lives two floor above mine (john-​unit 22b 1412) suspected I smoke in the house. When i confronted Sandra and asked to check the apartment herself before defaming me to my landlord she said «she believed John and her job does not require her to do an inspection herself. They should really hire an active person in the management office rather than a lady who sits in her office all day with big dogs, doesn’t do any work and and doesn’t know how to do her job properly. Maybe because I am Asian and they are both American, she prefers to believe him rather than find out the truth herself. Northgate Sq is a very nice place to live in Reston but they definitely need new staff in management office and probably the only bad thing about living in Northgate condominium

I live in the Northgate Condo complex. Don’t move here! We just got plowed in to our parking spots and Christie, operator #15 actually hung up after not helping us because its after hours. Apparently the contractor who plowed the entire complex left all of the snow piled behind our cars… which also happened after hours. Just the latest bs to happen in a history of bs here in the Northgate Condominiums!

This is not a review. Can anyone tell me if residents can still park in the lot with out of state plates? Or will they require you to change your registration, etc. to VA once you move here? Thanks!

Parking lot adjacent to their ground entrance, and when I’ve been in there were two fairly large (but friendly) dogs present. The only knock I have with the management is their hours, since they’re only open during business hours on weekdays. I had to run home during my lunch break the week before I was moving in to hand in paperwork and get the real parking sticker. They guard those permanent stickers fiercely, but everything else they’re willing to post on the door for afterhours pickup. They open the office for a full weekend when parking sticker renewal comes around too. Overall, excellent customer service counter experience.
No problems with my actual condo, though from what I’ve seen the quality depends on the property owner. All the windows got replaced at the end of last year though, so that’s nice. I toured a condo where the condo owner replaced all the carpeting with wood-​themed tile. Balcony doors have a new seal as well. AC/​heat seems finicky about detecting ambient temperature, but hot water isn’t a problem. Residents tend to be quiet, though lots of small pets around. They obey leash/​poopscoop rules pretty well though. Parking gets crowded in evenings. Noise really only can be heard from stairwell and pipes, and light water damage here and there. Don’t even think about having non-​beige/​offwhite curtains! Verizon FIOS and Comcast are the options here. Recyling put-​out and pick-​up around 8 am Mondays. No issues with mail so far, and the post office is just 2 minutes away. Overall I’m pretty happy for what I’m paying for rent.
Four months after I moved in, the light in the stairwell by my door started flickering and went out over the course of a weekend. Monday morning I called and left a message at 8 before they opened, and by the time I was home at 5:30 the bulb had been replaced. I’m happy to see a day-​of maintenance response turnaround.
